    Abstract: A mounting kit and smoke detecting apparatus releasably mountable to a distant support surface, including a smoke detector weighing W, a support plate securable to the support surface and releasably securable to the smoke detector by a separating force of Y, and a longitudinal member having a proximate end graspable by a user and a distal end releasably securable to the smoke detector. A selectable first connector on the distal end is releasably securable to the smoke detector for mounting the smoke detector to the support plate and a selectable second connector is securable to the smoke detector for detaching the smoke detector from the support plate. The first connector is secured to the smoke detector by a separating force no greater than X and the second connector is secured to the smoke detector by a separating force no less than Z. At least one of X<(Y?W) and X<Y is true, and at least one of Y<Z and (Y?W)<Z is true.

The present invention comprises an environmental condition detector using both tonal pattern alarms and pre-recorded voice messages to indicate information about the environmental condition being sensed. Single-station battery-powered and 120VAC detectors are described as are multiple-station interconnected 120VAC powered detectors. The pre-recorded voice messages describe the type of environmental condition detected or the location of the environmental condition detector sensing the condition, or both, in addition to the tonal pattern alarm. Provisions are made for multi-lingual pre-recorded voice messages.

    Abstract: A ceiling tile transmitter and receiver system having at least one transmitter/receiver device located in a ceiling panel either during or after the ceiling panel fabrication process. In one embodiment one or more pockets of variable size and shape are created on a surface of the ceiling panel during or after the ceiling panel manufacturing process and then a transmitter/receiver device, such as an RF antenna, is inserted in the pocket. In another embodiment, the transmitter/receiver device is embedded in the front side (lower surface) of the ceiling tile and a “scrim” covering is placed over it to secure it in place. The transmitter/receiver device can also be embedded inside the ceiling tile or on an upper, lower or side surface of the ceiling tile. Various combinations of these embodiments can be used with a single ceiling tile.

    Abstract: A security alarm sensor for mounting between two corner walls is described comprising a housing unit having a housing base for attachment to the corner walls and a selectively detachable housing cover; a circuit board sized for engagement within the housing unit; first and second openings on opposite sides of the housing base; first and second mounting pins selectively movable within the first and second openings wherein said mounting pins have a length and a range of movement so as to have a first position wherein the mounting pins are totally retracted within the housing unit and a second position wherein said mounting pins extend outwardly from the housing unit sufficiently to pierce the corner walls and securely hold the security alarm sensor in place. The installation of the alarm sensor is usually accomplished by first removing the housing cover from the housing base and detaching the printed circuit board prior to mounting the housing base to the corner of the wall.

    Abstract: A housing for an alarm includes a base adapted for mounting on a wall, a cover detachably connectable to the base and a sabotage detector for triggering an alarm signal in the event of unauthorized removal of the cover or forcible removal of the alarm from the wall. The base includes a breakaway portion which can be formed as strip-shaped region bordered by weak points. A number of screw insertion points extend through the breakaway portion for fastening the breakaway portion to a wall with one or more screws. A web projects from the breakaway portion and towards the cover such that when the housing is closed, the web engages a contact switch mounted in the cover. In the event of the housing being ripped off the wall, the strip-shaped region is broken off the base and remains on the wall, thereby opening the contact switch. The web is also disengaged from the contact switch in the event of unauthorized removal of the cover from the base.

The device includes a housing having an outer edge and an interior space in which a plurality of sensors are located. The sensors convert infrared into an electronic signal that is processed to detect motion. A lens located is also used which is located on an outer edge of the housing for directing infrared to the sensors which may be generally arranged in a U-shaped pattern to promote a 270 degree motion detection zone. The ends of the lens are recessed into and held in the interior of the housing a spaced distance from the outer edge of said housing so as to detect motion occurring rearward of the sensors.
