Abstract: A flashing light assembly for use on a portable, traffic-control, safety sign includes a bracket which allows the light assembly to be fastened to the safety sign without the need for special hardware or tools. The light assembly includes a lamp, an electrical circuit including a DC voltage source coupled to the lamp for controllably energizing the lamp so that the lamp flashes, and a housing for housing the electrical circuit. The bracket includes an upper wall portion connected to the housing and a pair of resilient side wall portions which receive and grip a retaining member of the safety sign. The lamp attracts attention to the sign by flashing when the sign is held in an upright position. The lamp may be a strobe or an incandescent lamp.
Abstract: An encapsulated installation, in particular a switching installation for high or medium voltage, includes a plurality of sensors located in an interior of an encapsulation. A central monitoring device is provided for information interchange with the surface acoustic wave sensors. An antenna element of the monitoring device is disposed at the encapsulation and is directed towards the interior. The sensors can be interrogated selectively.

Abstract: Apparatus for monitoring interruptions in utility power that includes a utility power plug for connection to a utility wall socket to provide a signal indicative of loss of utility power. A counter is responsive to such signal for counting and displaying the number of power interruptions, and a timer is responsive to such signal for measuring and displaying time duration of power interruptions. An operator switch is coupled to the timer for selectively measuring and displaying either duration of the latest power interruption or total duration of all power interruptions. The counter and timer may be reset at the option of an operator.
Abstract: A double-layer container equipped with temperature warning device comprises a double-layer container and a temperature sensor device, wherein the temperature sensor device is disposed in a segregated store space formed at the bottom end of the double-layer container for detecting temperature of food or soup loaded in the container. A detected signal is transmitted from a temperature sensor to a microprocessor for judging to lighten a specified LED and meanwhile drive a speaker to play a corresponding song or rhythm for easy discrimination of the temperature range of the food or the soup and thereby to protect a user against being scalded.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a security structure intended particularly for the construction of security containers and security rooms. The security structure has an alarm mat integral therewith. The alarm mat is constructed from one or more insulated, electrically conductive threads, wires, or the like, or from one or more light conducting, optical fibres. The thread or threads is/are disposed to form continuous meshes, loops, or eyes of the kind obtained when knitting or crocheting.
Abstract: A floor sensor assembly includes a receptacle having at least one first electrical contact and a first substantially flat surface partially defining a floor surface. A sensor device is detachably secured to the receptacle and includes at least one second electrical contact electrically connected to the at least one first electrical contact of the receptacle. At least one of a temperature sensor and a moisture sensor is electrically connected to the at least one second electrical contact. The sensor device also includes a second substantially flat surface partially defining the floor surface. At least one electrical conductor is electrically connected to the at least one first electrical contact of the receptacle.
Abstract: A public building alarm system for displaying information relating to potential alarm conditions within or about a public building area, employs an alarm condition display screen for informing a fireman, for example, of the nature and location of a possible fire. For the vast majority of the time, in the absence of an alarm condition, display control circuitry causes the alarm display screen to display information of general interest to the public, in high traffic areas of the building frequented by persons visiting the building. This is in contrast with alarm conditions of no interest to the general public. Such information can include advertising, enabling the building owner to collect advertising revenues to help offset the cost of the alarm system. Upon the occurrence of an alarm condition, the alarm condition display is immediately substituted for the information of general interest display.
Abstract: A moisture monitoring device, for use in monitoring the soil moisture level of a potted plant, comprising a tubular housing having a proximal end and a distal end. A moisture sensor is located at the distal end, which is ordinarily submerged within the soil of the potted plant. An indicating LED is located at the proximal end, which is normally visible above the soil of the potted plant. A blinker circuit is located within the housing and is capable of controlling illumination of the indicating LED. The moisture sensor modulates the blinker circuit such that as the soil moisture level decreases, the blinker circuit causes the indicating LED to flash more rapidly.
Abstract: Alarms for testing sensors, particularly those used in fire-suppression systems, are described. In one aspect of the invention, the alarm includes an audio and/or a visual indicator operably coupled to the housing of a sensor. The audio indicator may be a speaker that beeps when the sensor is activated. The visual indicator may be one or more LEDs that are illuminated when the sensor is activated. The alarm also can be used to determine whether power and ground conductors extending to the sensor are properly connected. Additionally the alarm can be used to determine whether one or more conductors extending from the sensor to the control panel are properly connected. Certain applications of the invention are intended primarily for use with existing fire-suppression-systems. The invention also can be employed in new fire-suppression system installations using a dry-contact circuit embodiment of the invention (FIG. 5).

Abstract: A portable monitoring system for use at sites, such as construction sites, is provided. The portable monitoring system can provide enhanced security at such sites and may be quickly set up and taken down. A portable monitoring system, in accordance with one embodiment of the invention, includes a housing and a plurality of portable sensing devices and a plurality of mounting platforms both capable of being removably stored in the housing. The mounting platforms may be easily retrieved from the housing and disposed about the site and are each capable of detachably mounting one or more of the portable sensing devices. The portable sensing devices each include a sensor for sensing a stimulus and a transmitter, coupled to the sensor, for transmitting a signal associated with the stimulus. The housing further includes a communication system for receiving the transmitted signals from each of the portable sensing devices and communicating signals associated with the sensed stimuli to an external system.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a motion sensor for use with a light. The device includes a housing having an outer edge and an interior space in which a plurality of sensors are located. The sensors convert infrared into an electronic signal that is processed to detect motion. A lens located is also used which is located on an outer edge of the housing for directing infrared to the sensors which may be generally arranged in a U-shaped pattern to promote a 270 degree motion detection zone. The ends of the lens are recessed into and held in the interior of the housing a spaced distance from the outer edge of said housing so as to detect motion occurring rearward of the sensors.
