  • Patent number: 10692370
Abstract: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for training and/or utilizing a traffic obstruction identification model for identifying traffic obstructions based upon vehicle location point data. For example, a training dataset, comprising sample vehicle location points (e.g., global positioning system location points of vehicles) and traffic obstruction identification labels (e.g., locations of known traffic obstructions such as stop signs, crosswalks, stop lights, etc.), may be evaluated to extract a set of training features indicative of traffic flow patterns. The set of training features and the traffic obstruction identification labels may be used to train a traffic obstruction identification model to create a trained traffic obstruction identification model. The trained traffic obstruction identification model may be used to determine whether a road segment has a traffic obstruction or not.

  • Patent number: 10452932
Abstract: In an information processing device mounted on a vehicle, a sign recognition section detects a traffic sign from image data captured by and transmitted from an in-vehicle camera. A judgment section detects a direction to a prohibited roadway/lane based on the detected traffic sign. To the prohibited roadway/lane the vehicle is prohibited from approaching and entering. An operation detection section predicts, as a predicted driver's operation, whether or not the driver intends to move the vehicle in the detected direction to the prohibited roadway/lane. A warning control section instructs a display and an audio speaker to provide warning information to the driver when the predicted driver's operation indicates that the driver intends to move the own vehicle toward the detected direction to the prohibited roadway/lane.

  • Patent number: 10311651
Abstract: A method and system for providing a feedback based dynamic pricing algorithm with an embedded controller for a HOT (High Occupancy Toll) lane. An input-output transfer function of a vehicle flow with respect to a HOT lane can be obtained utilizing a simulation module. A feedback controller combined with, for example, a Smith predictor can be designed to avoid an unstable behavior due to a time delay in the HOT lane, a price regulation, and a large transient caused by an integral part of the controller due to traffic jams. A driver behavior preference model can be derived based on a relationship between a toll rate and several characteristics of the HOT lane and a general purpose lane. The feedback controller and the behavior preference model can then be implemented to set the toll rate in real-time in order to satisfy a desired performance metric.

The vehicle comprises an onboard unit that stores information that indicates the vehicle length at least indirectly. The information is read from the onboard unit by a radio communication and the speed of the vehicle is measured. The duration of the passage of the vehicle passing a detector unit is computed based on this information and the speed. A time window in the received signal is determined that shows an approximately constant change of the received signal over the aforementioned duration. A spurious signal component is determined in a segment of the received signal that immediately precedes the time window. The received signal in the time window is compensated by the spurious signal component.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a wireless traffic sensor system. The system includes a plurality of wireless traffic sensors collecting traffic information from one or more vehicles that pass by; and at least one wireless communication device that receives the traffic information from at least one of the wireless traffic sensors and relays the traffic information to a wireless communication tower in vicinity. At least one of the wireless traffic sensors is placed inside a container and has a mounting flange that lays over edge of the container and is affixed to the container by one or more spring clips. The spring clips are not physically accessible once the wireless traffic sensor is affixed to the container, and are released only upon receiving a coded wireless electromagnetic signal or by a special tool that matches to a key inside the wireless traffic sensor.

Abstract: System and method for identifying speeding violations, comprising determining a current speed and a current location of a vehicle, determining a posted speed limit for the current location from a speed-by-street database, comparing the current speed of the vehicle to the posted speed limit, and evaluating whether the current speed exceeds the posted speed limit. Errors are identified in the speed-by-street database by storing a plurality of speeding violation records, wherein the speeding violation records each include a speeding event location; analyzing the speeding violation records to identify one or more speeding event locations having multiple speeding violations; comparing a posted speed limit at the one or more speeding event locations having multiple speeding violations to corresponding speed limit data in the speed-by-street database; and identifying one or more speed limit entries in the speed-by-street database that do not match the posted speed limit.

  • Patent number: 8878694
Abstract: A vehicle speed advisor system that provides an indication of the local speed limit to the driver in order to warn the driver when the local speed limit has been exceeded. The system detects the actual GPS position and obtains the allowed local speed limit of that position in a USB or flash memory, which is then displayed using a speed limit indicator in the scale of the speedometer of the instrument cluster in one mode of operation when the speed limit has not been reached, or in a second mode of operation when the speed limit has been reached or surpassed. The driver does not have to look at the street to see the allowed driving speed because the instrument cluster always provides an indication of the local speed limit.

Abstract: Techniques and systems are disclosed that provide for creating an accurate representation of a roadway network, such as for planning vehicle travel routes. Positioning data is obtained, such as GPS data points from a plurality of vehicles, which mark traces of vehicular travel. A location of a trace is clarified using adjustment forces that are related to the traces, for example, to form coherent groups of traces. From these groups of clarified traces, a graph line is created by merging the traces.
