A capacitor may be coupled between the conductive path and an antenna ground. The capacitor may short non-near-field communications signals to the antenna ground and block near-field communications signals from passing from the conductive path to the antenna ground.

The walls are in one implementation oriented orthogonally with respect to one another, and are placed adjacent to respective antenna feeds. The walls are then at least partly metallized using, for example, a laser direct structuring (LDS) process, and are further connected to a ground plane of an external substrate. By incorporating the metallized wall structures on the existing plastic structure of the bottom cover, isolation between the antenna ports is improved without requiring installation of additional components, use of slots in the ground plane, or increased physical separation (i.e., distance). Manufacturing cost and consistency are also advantageously improved.

The antenna assembly may include a carrier having at least one region that is dimensioned to be farther away from the body than other portions thereof, and a radiator provided on the at least one dimensioned region of the carrier and configured to receive or radiate electromagnetic waves corresponding to the wireless signals. The radiator may be positioned on the dimensioned region of the carrier such that a specific absorption rate (SAR) due to the antenna assembly is reduced.
