Patent number: 4443805Abstract: The plate-type antenna is constituted by two tangent circular rings lying in a common plane and interconnected by a slit which is narrow and oriented in the direction of an axis which joins the centers of the rings. The slit extends from the internal edge or circumference of one ring to the internal edge or circumference of the other ring. The tangency zone has a given width which is small as possible in the direction which is perpendicular to the axis of the two rings. One edge of the slit is excited or energized in the immediate neighborhood of the center of symmetry of the antenna. Ground is connected to the middle point of at least one ring located on the axis on the other side of the center. The antennas may be assembled into networks. They may be constructed as double-faced printed circuits.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1981Date of Patent: April 17, 1984Inventor: Henri A. P. Havot

Patent number: 4223317Abstract: A dual polarized antenna couplet, comprised of a vertical quarter-wavelength radiator driven at its lower end and centered on a half-wavelength horizontal dipole radiator drooping its ends about 45.degree. from the center where it is driven in phase with the vertical radiator, produces a polarized wavefront at an angle between the vertical and the horizontal, such as 45.degree. when both are driven equally, with 1.5 db bi-directional gain in the horizontal pattern and in the vertical pattern as well. A similar parasitic couplet is used as a reflector behind the driven couplet, and two or more parasitic couplets are used as directors in front of the driven couplet. The elements of the antenna are coated with dielectric material to achieve a shortening effect of about 11% over the normal lengths of the antenna elements otherwise required.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1977Date of Patent: September 16, 1980Assignee: Monogram Industries, IncInventor: Robert L. Patent number: 4121219Abstract: A dipole resonent loop antenna having a pair of semicircular, quarter-wave antenna elements curving away from each other in a generally circular configuration. The ends of the antenna elements are connected to each other through a pair of generally T-shaped insulative couplers having their center legs extending toward each other. A hollow boom positioned diametrically in the circular configuration has its ends secured to the center legs of the couplers. The center of the boom is then mounted on a vertical mast so that the mast extends generally along the axis of the circular configuration. A co-axial cable having a pair of conductors runs along the outside of the mast and passes into the interior of the boom through a center aperture. The conductors extend along the interior of the boom toward one of the couplers where they exit through an aperture in the outer wall of the coupler and are secured to respective antenna elements by screws passing through the coupler and the antenna elements.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1977Date of Patent: October 17, 1978Inventor: Gerald O'Connor

Patent number: 4115778Abstract: A miniature antenna which is rugged, extremely light-weight and which is especially adapted for reception across the entire FM band comprising an omnidirectional half-wave dipole having feed structure comprised of curved overlapping dipole element points connected to a solid state amplifier having staggered tuned input and output circuits. The input to the amplifier is maintained essentially balanced to preserve the omnidirectional pattern of the dipole. The physical location of the solid state amplifier is such that it is directly connected to the feed point of the dipole eliminating transmission line losses. The coaxial cable is employed in a diplexed manner for connecting the DC power supply to the solid state amplifier and for connecting the amplified output signal to an impedance converter which is to provide proper impedance match for the antenna input signals of an FM tuner/receiver.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1976Date of Patent: September 19, 1978Assignee: JFD Electronics CorporationInventor: Robert Eric Snow

Patent number: 3958248Abstract: A dipole antenna adjustable in span and distance to the reflector provides higher gain reception for a television receiver. By maintaining the ratio of span to distance constant optimum tuning is possible over a given band of frequencies. Tuning adjustment control is obtained from behind the reflector to eliminate interference with the radiation pattern of the antenna. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to tunable communication antennas and more specifically to a directional antenna tunable over the UHF band of television frequencies.More and more in recent times VHF channels for television broadcasting in many areas of the country has become limited and the need has greatly increased for UHF channel utilization. Broadcasting in the UHF band, however, presents the problem of greater transmission path loss and higher gain antenna systems are required.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1975Date of Patent: May 18, 1976Inventors: Howard E.
