Patent number: 7969372Abstract: The small loop antenna element of the antenna apparatus includes loop antenna portions that have a predetermined loop plane and radiate a first polarized wave component parallel to the loop plane, and at least one connecting conductor that is provided in a direction orthogonal to the loop plane and connects the plurality of loop plane portions to radiate a second polarized wave component orthogonal to the first polarized wave component. In the case of the antenna apparatus located adjacent to a conductor plate, by making the maximum value of the antenna gain of the first polarized wave component and the maximum value of the antenna gain of the second polarized wave component substantially identical when the distance between the antenna apparatus and the conductor plate is changed, a composite component of the first and second polarized wave components are made substantially constant regardless of the distance.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2007Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: Panasonic CorporationInventors: Norihiro Miyashita, Yoshishige Yoshikawa

Publication number: 20110136447Abstract: Electronic devices are provided that contain wireless communications circuitry. The wireless communications circuitry may include radio-frequency transceiver circuitry and antenna structures. A parallel-fed loop antenna may be formed from portions of an electronic device bezel and a ground plane. The antenna may operate in multiple communications bands. An impedance matching circuit for the antenna may be formed from a parallel-connected inductive element and a series-connected capacitive element. The bezel may surround a peripheral portion of a display that is mounted to the front of an electronic device. The bezel may contain a gap. Antenna feed terminals for the antenna may be located on opposing sides of the gap. The inductive element may bridge the gap and the antenna feed terminals. The capacitive element may be connected in series between one of the antenna feed terminals and a conductor in a transmission line located between the transceiver circuitry and the antenna.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 3, 2009Publication date: June 9, 2011Inventors: Mattia Pascolini, Robert J. Patent number: 7956750Abstract: To provide a wireless IC tag which is readable even in a plurality of countries (destination countries) using different radio frequency bands for reading. The wireless IC tag of the present invention is characterized by comprising: a case (20); an antenna (60), which is provided in the case (20); a metal plate (901), which is disposed in the case opposite to the antenna (60); and a mechanism for altering the resonance characteristics of the wireless IC tag (10) by moving at least one of the antenna (60) and the metal plate (901) in the case (20), thereby altering the distance (D) between the metal plate (901) and the antenna (60). With such wireless IC tag (10), the capacitance of an equivalent tuning capacitor consisting of the antenna (60) and the metal plate (901) can be arbitrarily altered by a distance alteration unit, and thereby, the resonance characteristics of the wireless IC tag (10) can be altered in accordance with the frequency band of reading radio wave used by a reader/writer.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2007Date of Patent: June 7, 2011Assignees: Universal Entertainment Corporation, Seta Corp.Inventor: Nobuyuki Nonaka

Publication number: 20110084146Abstract: A contactless IC card which ensures the reliability of an IC chip mounted therein. Even if the distance between the contactless IC card and a reader/writer is too short, the card prevents an excessive voltage from being applied to the IC chip so that breakdown or reliability deterioration of the circuitry of the IC chip does not occur. The body of the contactless IC card has two interconnection substrates stacked between two external sheets. A first antenna coil formed on one interconnection substrate and a second antenna coil formed on the other interconnection substrate are opposite in winding direction. The number of turns of the second antenna coil is larger than that of the first antenna coil. Therefore, when the IC card comes close to the reader/writer, the voltage between two terminals of the IC chip is always smaller than the voltage induced in the second antenna coil.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2010Publication date: April 14, 2011Applicant: RENESAS ELECTRONICS CORPORATIONInventor: Fukuo OWADA
