  • Patent number: 10319272
Abstract: A sensor of a brightness limiting system of a vehicle may sense light from light sources around the vehicle and provide a light measurement signal. The light measurement signal may include information about brightness levels and positions of light sources relative to a window of the vehicle. A brightness controller may monitor the light source measurement signal and perform comparisons of brightness levels from the light measurement signal with brightness thresholds. The brightness controller may determine that a brightness level of a light source exceeds a brightness threshold and may provide a brightness control signal to a brightness control layer positioned adjacent to the window of the vehicle. The brightness control layer may receive the brightness control signal and limit the brightness level of light based on the brightness threshold at a brightness control area of the brightness control layer.

Abstract: An organic electroluminescent display panel and a display apparatus are disclosed. At a first detection phase, aging of the light-emitting device in each sub-pixel is detected one by one. At a display phase, an initial grayscale value for a corresponding sub-pixel is compensated in accordance with the aging of the light-emitting device in each sub-pixel. Moreover, in the display panel the plurality of sub-pixels that belong to the same pixel group share a sense line, such that the number of the wirings in the display panel can be reduced and the number of the signal channels of the driving chip can thus be reduced, leading to a reduced area of the driving chip and a reduced manufacture cost.

Abstract: Based on a histogram of saturation of an input video, a saturation conversion function is determined, and, referring to the determined saturation conversion function, the saturation of each pixel of the input video is converted. Alternatively, a saturation conversion coefficient determination function is generated from the histogram, a saturation conversion coefficient is determined from the saturation conversion coefficient determination function and the saturation, and color differences are multiplied by the determined saturation conversion coefficient. Regardless of what saturation distribution the input video has, the saturation can be properly enhanced, and at the same time a high gradation expression can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 9952642
Abstract: Systems and methods for operating a display by dynamically determining a refresh rate for the display. In certain implementations, a processor determines a number of pixels having medium grayscale levels from a histogram for the image. If the number does not exceed a threshold, the processor sets a refresh rate for the display to a first refresh rate. In certain implementations, if the number exceeds a threshold, the processor may set the refresh rate for the display to a second refresh rate. Moreover, the first refresh rate may be lower than the second threshold. In some implementations, the image may be analyzed by subdividing the image into blocks and determining a refresh rate based on grayscale levels or distributions in the blocks. Based on the analysis of the blocks, a corresponding refresh rate may be selected.

  • Patent number: 9947275
Abstract: A method and apparatus are explained for performing white point color adjustment for a display device. This can be done by obtaining a value of an ambient light sensor, determining whether to make a white point adjustment, and, for a dynamic white point adjustment, using the value from the ambient light sensor in performing white point adjustment toward target color coordinates. A white point might be set equal to the target color coordinates, but might also remain unchanged for small ambient light changes or ambient light outside a region of interest. The white point might be changed to the target color coordinates in multiple steps. Various parameters might be used that can be varied to vary behavior of the white point adjustment.
