  • Patent number: 12142233
Abstract: A display device that includes a display panel, a backlight device, and a display driver. The backlight device includes light sources configured such that color of light emitted from the light sources varies with luminance levels. The display driver is configured to: process a first input grey level of a first color for a target pixel based on a specified luminance level of a corresponding light source to determine a first output grey level of the first color for the target pixel; and configured to process a second input grey level of a second color for the target pixel based on the specified luminance level to determine a second output grey level of the second color for the target pixel. The first output grey level and the second output grey level are determined to compensate for a change in color of light emitted from the corresponding light source.

Abstract: Certain IHSs (Information Handling Systems) may utilize displays that are foldable. Foldable displays may utilize OLED (organic light-emitting diode) display technology, which is particularly susceptible to screen burn-in. Embodiments implement procedures for mitigation of screen burn-in of a foldable display. When folded, a foldable display is logically divided into screen portions based on the locations of the folds. Embodiments mitigate screen burn-in separately in each these screen portions that are created by folding the display. A gap may be displayed along the length of the folds of a folded display, thus separating the different screen portions. Embodiments may implement procedures for mitigating screen burn-in from displaying such a gap. Embodiments may also determine screen portions of a folded display that are actively in use and may implement procedures for mitigating screen burn-in in inactive portions of the folded display.

Whereas, under conventional PWM schemes, each light pulse would be emitted by the same pixel of a display device, in the present invention rate data from an associated tracker system and data defining predetermined characteristics of the display and operation thereof are used to calculate a pixel displacement in respect of each defined pulse of the PWM scheme. The pixel displacement is used to modify control data defining those pixels to be activated to emit the defined pulse such that a different pixel to that intended emits the pulse during relative movement of the direction of gaze of a user's eye and the display apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9653043
Abstract: A method for magnifying a screen content executed by an input device is disclosed. The method is suitable for magnifying a display content of a computer device and includes that the input device receives an informed command from the computer device. The informed command indicates whether the operation system of the computer device supports a system magnifier. If the operation system supports the system magnifier, the input device outputs a first magnification command to the computer device according to pressing of a function key. The computer device initializes the system magnifier of the operation system and magnifies the screen content according to the first magnification command. If the operation system doesn't support the system magnifier, the input device outputs a second magnification command provided by the input device to the computer device, so that the second magnification command magnifies the screen content according to the second magnification command.

  • Patent number: 9564104
Abstract: Techniques are presented for adjusting a brightness of a front light that illuminates a display of an electronic device. Typically, page updates on certain types of displays, such as electronic paper displays, result in a relatively large but rapid change in brightness. Therefore, by adjusting the brightness of the front light during the update (e.g., when some, a majority, or all of the pixels are in the white state) and then adjusting the brightness back to another state upon or near completion of the update, the overall brightness perceived by the user remains more uniform. Increasing the uniformity of this perceived brightness in turn decreases the jarring effect of an update and increases the experience of the user.

  • Patent number: 9407823
Abstract: Example embodiments concern reducing the negative impacts of camera motion during video capture. Processing, transmitting, or displaying motion compromised video data yields inefficient use of bandwidth, battery power, memory, and other resources. Watching video acquired from a moving video camera may induce motion sickness. Unlike conventional systems that attempt to address motion by increasing frame capture rates to produce better individual frames, example embodiments identify frames that are compromised by motion data and do not provide or present them for viewing. Compromised frames may be logically or physically deleted from a video stream or memory. Motion may be detected by physical apparatus (e.g., accelerometer) or through image processing (e.g., motion artifacts, low correlation between frames, low signal-to-noise ratio). A display device may be controlled to operate in a video display mode or a still frame mode depending on motion detected in captured video frames.
