Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for magnifying a display of video data. In an exemplary embodiment, a system for magnifying a display of data includes a receiver for receiving a first set of video data including video data formatted for display in a first resolution. A translator is also included for translating the first set of video data formatted for display in the first resolution to a second set of video data formatted for display in a second resolution, the second resolution being a lower resolution than the first resolution. A magnifier is also included for magnifying a display of video data by formatting the first set of video into a third set of video data. The third set of video data is capable of display on a display device capable of displaying video data in the second resolution and incapable of displaying video data in the first resolution. The third set of video data is in an enlarged format with respect to the second set of video data.

Abstract: A system for controlling presentation of information to a user based on the user's current condition. In particular, the system monitors the user and the user's environment, and creates and maintains an updated model of the current condition of the user. The user condition can include a variety of condition variables, including abstract concepts such as the user's current cognitive load, desired level of privacy for output information, and desired scope of audience for output information. Upon receiving output information to be presented to the user (e.g., from an application program), the system determines an appropriate output device and an appropriate format with which to present the information to the user, and then presents the output information. The system can also receive description information about the output information that describes relevant factors for determining when and how to present the output information (e.g.

Abstract: A dual mode digital video interface for a computer system is disclosed. A video controller generates a video signal to be displayed on the flat panel display. A first interface couples the video controller to the flat panel display in a first display mode when the flat panel display is a first type of display, and a second interface couples the video controller to the flat panel display in a second display mode when the flat panel display is a second type of display. The first interface is enabled when the first type of display is coupled to the computer system, and the second interface is enabled when the second type of display is coupled to the computer system. Abstract: A second display panel having a lower luminance is combined with a first display panel having a higher luminance, forming a combined display panel. The entire surface of the combined display panel is covered with a dimming filter for ornamental purpose. Transparency of the dimming filter is enhanced in a wave-length region of the light emitted from the second panel to alleviate a brightness imbalance between the first and second panels. The transparency is enhanced also in another wave-length region corresponding to light complementary to the light emitted from the second panel, so that a color shift of the display of the first panel is avoided. Preferably, an electroluminescent display panel which emits light having a sharp peak in a specific wave-length region is used as the second panel.

  • Patent number: 6333750
Abstract: A video graphics system wherein a large quantity of video data is independently and selectively made available to plural video display devices. The large quantity of video data can be contributed to by plural sources of video data of differing formats. Further, the display devices can also be of varying types, each requiring a different input data format. A multi-sourced video distribution element, also referred to as a hub, serves as an interface between one or more sources of video display data and one or more video display devices. One source of data can be identified as a base image, and other sources of data can be utilized for overlay images integrated into the base image. The base image and any integrated overlay images are provided on a pixel bus internal to the hub. The hub can then be configured as an interface to one or more types of video display devices and/or to another hub.
