  • Patent number: 9287813
Abstract: Frequency-divided clock generating section generates a frequency-divided clock having a predetermined driving frequency by dividing a base clock having a base frequency based on a set frequency-division ratio. Division-ratio calculating section calculates a real number ratio of the driving frequency relative to the base frequency and sets a rounded frequency-division ratio by rounding the real number ratio as the frequency-division ratio while calculating a rounding error. Accumulated error calculating section adds the rounding error to an accumulated error when frequency-divided clock generating section generates a frequency-divided pulse which is a one cycle of frequency-divided clock.

  • Patent number: 8988318
Abstract: A communication system and method are described for transmitting data from a display in a bit transmission data format to a machine vision system. The described system and method allows for the process and further application of a larger amount of data faster and more reliably than by use of the human readable data from the display. A standard LCD screen displays bit transmission data corresponding to human readable data, and transmits the bit transmission data to a machine vision system, such as by use of the camera on a smart phone. The captured bit transmission data is converted into a bit data stream for further processing, such as by use of an application in the smart phone, and can be stored in memory and/or transmitted to another system to provide useful human readable information. Faster transmission of a greater amount of data is realized including, in one aspect of the bit generation, data error and correction codes.

  • Patent number: 8581804
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a display driver having an internal non-volatile memory in order to save memory storage and computation effort of a host processor. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the display driver is applied for an electronic paper display. Contained within the display driver are user-definable display graphics bitmaps, multiple stored bitmaps used to assemble complex display images, and multiple phase tables, each table of arbitrary length. The invention removes the requirement for a host processor to store display images and/or display image decodes of numerical data and simplifies the process required to construct a display image from stored bitmaps. Furthermore the invention provides pre-programmed multiple phase tables (phase/delay waveform definitions), allowing a simple mechanism to alter the waveform generation, required for example to accommodate temperature variations, blanking the display before updating an image, etc.

A processor is connected to the LCD driver. The processor may be selectively configured into any of at least two multiplexing modes, where the at least two multiplexing modes produce at least three voltage levels for driving the at least one segment of the LCD. Another embodiment includes a system and method for driving an LCD having a segment including a first and second electrode. An LCD driver is coupled to the first and second electrode. A processor is coupled the LCD driver. The processor initiates a substantially periodic signal on the first electrode and a delay signal having a time delay relative to the substantially periodic signal. The signals on the first and second electrodes form an RMS voltage to drive the segment of the LCD to any of at least three display voltage levels.

Abstract: Liquid crystal display with conductive segments for representing symbols which also has at least one inverse segment that fills at least in part the display area that is not covered by the remaining segments. This liquid crystal display allows a simple, visual detection of faulty segments. For this purpose a check is carried out in which all segments and all existing inverse segments are activated which results in a homogenous image when the display is completely functional or the faulty segments are inversely displayed in relation to the remaining display surfaces.

Abstract: An external display device of a refrigerator which includes a microprocessor enabling a serial data transmission/reception between the external display device and a control unit included in the refrigerator. The microprocessor is coupled with a second microprocessor included in the control unit by two voltage supply lines and a minimum number of data transmission lines. Data transmission/reception between the two microprocessor is carried out in an asynchronous serial manner while using an appropriate data format so that each microprocessor recognizes the operation condition of the counter microprocessor. Accordingly, it is possible to simplify the configuration of signal lines required between the external display device and control unit, irrespective of the complexity of functions required.

Abstract: Chip card processor P and display controller C of chip card 1 with a display are realized in single chip 5 and the chip 5 is disposed on same substrate 4 on which display 2 is built up. This eliminates the need for connecting leads and contactings between the display controller and the processor chip. Display 2 and chip 5 form one mechanical unit and it is unnecessary to install processor chip P. Preferably, display substrate 4 extends with processor chip P, or at least with conductive paths leading to processor chip P, under contact pad 3 of chip card 1.

Abstract: An improved multi-segment, electronically-actuated display array that displays (a) a multiplication symbol configured approximately like “×”, and, centered in the same location, (b) one or more of an addition symbol, a subtraction symbol, and a division symbol configured approximately like “+”, “−”, and “÷”, respectively. A novel central segment or central segment group of the array displays a central portion of the multiplication symbol and of the other displayable arithmetic operation symbols—essentially the entire intersection of (a) the multiplication symbol and (b) a horizontal bar constituting the entire subtraction symbol, the horizontal portion of the addition symbol, and/or the vertically-centered portion of the division symbol.

Abstract: A digital circuit having a plurality of digital outputs coupled to backplane(s) and segments of a LCD glass in combination with a software program functions as a “switched mode” LCD driver. Alternating in polarity but equal in magnitude RMS voltage pulses are applied between segments and backplane(s) of the LCD glass. The voltage amplitude and time duration of these pulses determine whether a LCD segment is opaque or clear and the overall contrast of the LCD.

Abstract: A display interface device and method for determining a currently tuned-to channel of a set-top converter box having an electronic display that indicates the currently tuned-to channel via seven-segment display elements in response to drive signals provided thereto by the set-top converter device. The display interface device includes an electrical connection to the electronic display and a controller. The controller receives the drive signals over the electrical connection and generates information representative of the currently tuned-to tuned channel for use by downstream components. The information representative of the tuned channel may be output as an ASCII value representative of the currently tuned-to channel. The display interface may be part of a viewership metering system when used in conjunction with a viewership collection meter to determine viewer habits.

  • Patent number: 6388642
Abstract: A bidirectional multispeed indexing control system for a display unit which has an increment input and a decrement input so as to be controllable to sequentially index through an ordered list of discrete elements. The control system has a two-button user interface. The user presses one button to increment once, and holds that button to continuously index at a slow fixed speed. To increase the indexing speed, the user presses the second button while continuing to hold the first button. Indexing speed will continue to increase until either a maximum speed is reached or the user releases the second button, at which point the indexing speed decreases from the value reached while holding the second button. To stop indexing, both buttons are released. To increment in the opposite direction (i.e., decrement), the order in which the buttons are pressed is reversed.
