  • Patent number: 10121229
Abstract: Systems and approaches are provided for optimizing self-portraiture. The background of the self-portrait can be enhanced by image registration or stitching techniques of images captured using one or more conventional cameras. Multiple standard resolution images can be stitched together to generate a panoramic or a composite image of a higher resolution. Foreground elements, such as one or more representations of users, can also be enhanced in various ways. The representations of the users can be composited to exclude undesirable elements, such as image data of one of the users extending her arm to capture the self-portrait. An ideal pose of the users can automatically be selected and other image enhancements, such as histogram optimization, brightness and contrast optimization, color-cast correction, or reduction or removal of noise, can automatically be performed to minimize user effort in capturing self-portraits.

  • Patent number: 9142185
Abstract: A machine-implemented method includes obtaining input data and generating output data. The status of at least one contextual factor is determined and compared with a standard. If the status meets the standard, a transformation is applied to the output data. The output data is then outputted to the viewer. Through design and/or selection of contextual factors, standards, and transformations, output data may be selectively outputted to viewers in a context-suitable fashion, e.g. on a head mounted display the viewer's central vision may be left unobstructed while the viewer walks, drives, etc. An apparatus includes at least one sensor that senses a contextual factor. A processor determines the status of the contextual factor, determines if the status meets a standard, generates output data, and applies a transformation to the output data if the status meets the standard. A display outputs the output data to the viewer.

The map can be a hybrid between an orthographic projection map and street-side images, thus including useful aspects from both types of representations. For example, an orthographic projection map is very effective at presenting global relationships among the features of the map but not effective at presenting local detail. In contrast, street -side images show excellent detail but do not convey the global information of an orthographic projection map. The hybrid map can thus provide a richer set of information than conventional maps and can also display objects/features of the hybrid map in multiple perspectives simultaneously on a single representation that is printable.

A document object in the set of document objects is passed to a pre-rendering region comprising a stack of one or more panes, wherein the document object is added in z-order. The document object is checked against each pane in the stack for document object overlap, beginning with a topmost pane, until a pane selected from one of a bottommost pane and an overlap pane is reached. The document object is associated with a pane selected from one of the bottommost pane and a pane above the overlap pane. The pane above the overlap pane is selected from one of a pane in the stack and a new pane added to the top of the stack.

Abstract: A DPF controller (21) generates, as image information, a layout identifier (MEN) that specifies the layout of an image to be displayed on a liquid crystal display device (11), and an element image identifier (SEN) that specifies the display mode of element images that are being subjected to layout. When an SEN is newly determined and the newly determined SEN is equal to a previously determined SEN, the newly determined SEN is not output to a drawing controller (22).

Abstract: An image-data loading unit loads image data of an image requested to be displayed based on an input signal in an image memory. A display-image determining unit determines an image to be displayed on the display device based on a priority of the image after the image data is loaded in the image memory. An image-data output unit reads out the image data of the image determined to be displayed by the display-image determining unit from the image memory, and outputs read image data to a display device.

Abstract: An image analysis unit analyses information appended to an image and calculates the image capture time for each of the images. A time difference calculating unit calculates the image capture time difference between images arranged by an image managing unit by referring to the image capture time for each of the images calculated by the image analysis unit. A user instruction information managing unit sets a threshold that is used in the selection of images to be displayed in one screen and that serves as a determination reference for time differences based on input information of the user. The display determination unit compares an image capture time difference calculated by the time difference calculating unit and a threshold set by the user instruction information managing unit, and selects the images that satisfy this threshold as images to be display in the screen.

  • Patent number: 7840032
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to a computer-implemented architecture that can generate a map. The map can be a hybrid between an orthographic projection map and street-side images, thus including useful aspects from both types of representations. For example, an orthographic projection map is very effective at presenting global relationships among the features of the map, but not effective at presenting local detail. In contrast, street-side images show excellent detail, but do not convey the global information of an orthographic projection map. The hybrid map can thus provide a richer set of information than conventional maps, and can also display objects/features of the hybrid map in multiple perspectives simultaneously on a single representation that is printable.

Abstract: In bitmapping an input rendering command to a bitmap, a logic operation designated by the rendering command is analyzed in accordance with the source and pattern as the logic operation target and a logic operation code. On the basis of the analysis result, an additional information operation corresponding to each pixel of the bitmap is created. On the basis of the additional information operation, additional information of each pixel is created. When image processing based on the additional information is executed for the bitmap, high-quality output image data can be created.

Abstract: A method of displaying data or images on a multi-level screen display, assigns screen designation codes to respective software components, to determine the physical screen on which the corresponding images or software components are displayed. The screens may include layered liquid crystal displays. The method allows a user to see overlaying objects at the same time, e.g., toolbars or menus can be displayed on a front screen, and a drawing image can be displayed on a background screen.

Abstract: Methods and systems for determining an occlusion cost for concurrently presenting multiple images within a shared viewing region are described. Image saliency data is received for a first image to be displayed concurrently with a second image in the shared viewing region. Image saliency data is received for the second image. A layout orientation is received for concurrently presenting the first image and the second image within the shared viewing region. The image saliency data for the first image and the image saliency data for the second image are utilized to determine the occlusion cost of the layout orientation for concurrently presenting the first image and the second image within the shared viewing region.

Certain embodiments provide automatically determining a reading time for an image based on at least one of image viewing time and tool usage with respect to the image, and generating a viewing order for the image based on the reading time. Reading times may be determined for a plurality of images. In certain embodiments, a priority may be assigned to the image based on the reading time. Images may be arranged on a display based on the priority, for example. A series of images may be ordered according to reading time for each of a plurality of images, for example.

  • Patent number: 7512581
Abstract: An electronic circuit for use in providing computational decision-making capabilities. The circuit implements a hierarchy of decision-making cells, with outputs derived from input signals supplying argument values, configuration signals for controlling the decision making model and wires between cells defining relationships between cells that modify the decision-making model of dependent cells. The cells are primarily characterized by modified values that may represent outputs although they may have a variety of other function features such as importance values and threshold values. The arguments are characterized by argument values that may represent inputs. The arguments are associated with particular cells and the values of the arguments associated with a given cell are combined to determine the value of that cell. The wires between different cells define different types of functional relationships between them.

Abstract: The object of the invention is to easily and simply output a document including an image in a desired layout. A script generation device 10 generates a script used to control a layout of a printer 20, and transfers the generated script to the printer 20. The script includes multiple drawing control commands that individually adjust output positions with regard to a plurality of images to be output in a preset output range. The sequence of arrangement of the multiple drawing control commands specifies the overlapping state of the plurality of images. The script of this construction enables the user to readily define and change the overlapping state and thereby attain a desired layout.

  • Patent number: 7502022
Abstract: An image synthesis output apparatus is capable of saving power in the stage of obtaining a synthetic image of a plurality of images. In the apparatus, during a period when either of first and second input images is updated within a first predetermined period, a multi-layer image synthesis section synthesizes these input images and outputs a synthetic image to an LCD display panel. If neither of the first and second input images are updated within the first predetermined period, the multi-layer image synthesis section also writes the synthetic image in a synthetic- image storage section. If the first and second input images are not updated and a second predetermined period elapses after the first predetermined period, then without synthesizing the first and second input images, the multi-layer image synthesis section reads the synthetic image and outputs it to the LCD display panel.
