  • Patent number: 11636639
Abstract: Trained segmentation, classification, and style transformation models are used to apply style effects to image segments corresponding to objects (e.g., a portrait of a person) present in an image. When depth information is included with a source image it may be used to segment, classify, and/or apply style transformation to an image or image segments (as the case may be). One or more of the segmentation, classification, and style transformations may be performed at a computing apparatus or as a service for example, in the cloud. A model management tool implemented at a server(s) may continuously train models using supervised or unsupervised training techniques to improve the quality of segmentation, classification and style transformation as well as add new capabilities. Updated models may be pushed to services offering image processing.

  • Patent number: 11082738
Abstract: A simplified and accelerated determination of how much of a display element, generated by instructions executing on a computing device, is displayed is achieved through approximations based on a two-dimensional array whose dimensions are commensurate with a size of the display element. Each entry in the array is initialized to one binary value. If the display element is cut off by either physical display boundaries or by boundaries of a host display element, or if it is overlapped by another element, then the entries in the array corresponding to those portions of the display element that are not visible are changed to another binary value. Subsequently, the quantity of entries in the array having the original, initialized binary value, as compared with the total quantity of entries in the array, can provide an accurate approximation for how much of the display element was displayed.

  • Patent number: 8754908
Abstract: A method for displaying continuous video content on a mobile phone LCD renders plural source video textures as consecutive surfaces on the display. A hardware scaler, rather than a general purpose graphical processing unit (GPU), is used to render a particular surface whenever possible, because it uses less battery power than the GPU. The method determines if the hardware scaler is capable of rendering a particular surface and if the particular surface is to be rendered with one or more additional images derived from a source other than a source video texture. The hardware scaler renders surfaces, including any additional images, if it is capable of doing so; otherwise the GPU renders the surface. The method is applied dynamically to each video texture in a video session, so that the manner of rendering each surface, whether by using the hardware scaler or the GPU, can change from surface to surface.

Abstract: A contents playback apparatus and the like are provided which allow a user to promptly designate a desired portion when displaying a part of a content in an expanded manner, and are thus excellent in operability. A contents playback apparatus includes an associating unit and a playback unit. The associating unit generates association information for a plurality of characteristic portions contained in a content by referring to priority orders of the respective characteristic portions relative to each other, the association information associating each of the characteristic portions individually with a predetermined operation key of an input device included in the apparatus in accordance with the priority orders. The playback unit plays back, in response to detecting an operation of an operation key during display of the content, the characteristic portion corresponding to the operation key in an expanded display mode, in accordance with the association information.

Abstract: Embodiments that provide multi-video synthesis are disclosed. In accordance with one embodiment, multi-video synthesis includes breaking a main video into a plurality of main frames and break a supplementary video into a plurality of supplementary frames. The multi-video synthesis also includes assigning one or more supplementary frames into each of a plurality of states of a Hidden Markov Model (HMM), where each of the plurality of states corresponding to one or more main frames. The multi-video synthesis further includes determining optimal frames in the plurality of main frames for insertion of the plurality of supplementary frames based on the plurality of states and visual properties. The optimal frames include optimal insertion positions. The multi-video synthesis additionally includes inserting the plurality of supplementary frames into the optimal insertion positions to form a synthesized video.

Abstract: Motion picture scenes to be colorized/depth enhanced (2D?3D) are broken into separate elements, backgrounds/sets or motion/onscreen-action. Background and motion elements are combined into composite frame which becomes a visual reference database that includes data for all frame offsets used later for the computer controlled application of masks within a sequence of frames. Masks are applied to subsequent frames of motion objects based on various differentiating image processing methods, including automated mask fitting/reshaping. Colors and/or depths are automatically applied to masks throughout a scene from the composite background and to motion objects.

Abstract: An apparatus for displaying at least one image with respect to a line-of-sight (LOS), with an image source, a display processor and a displaying unit. The display processor is coupled with the image source and the displaying unit. The image source provides at least one spatially unregistered image, and the display processor spatially registers the spatially unregistered image with the LOS, thereby generating a respective at least one spatially registered image. The displaying unit displays at least one spatially registered pixel on a displaying surface. The display processor includes a storage unit, an image processor and a pixel locator, the pixel locator being coupled with the image processor, wherein the storage unit stores the spatially unregistered image. The image processor selects at least one projection pixel to be displayed and the pixel locator determines, in each spatially unregistered image, the location of the spatially registered pixel corresponding to the selected projection pixel.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a request is received that includes a specification of a static location and a dynamic location. A static image is created that includes a map that represents an area centered around the static location. A dynamic image is created asynchronously from the creation of the static image. An amalgamated image is generated that includes the static image and the dynamic image, which is over a portion of the static image. In this way, spatial data may be drawn in a manner that increases performance.

  • Patent number: 8086662
Abstract: A system allowing a user of a browser program on a computer connected to an open distributed hypermedia system to access and execute an embedded program object. The program object is embedded into a hypermedia document much like data objects. The user may select the program object from the screen. Once selected the program object executes on the user's (client) computer or may execute on a remote server or additional remote computers in a distributed processing arrangement. After launching the program object, the user is able to interact with the object as the invention provides for ongoing interprocess communication between the application object (program) and the browser program. One application of the embedded program object allows a user to view large and complex multi-dimensional objects from within the browser's window. The user can manipulate a control panel to change the viewpoint used to view the image.

  • Patent number: 8085990
Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to a computer-implemented architecture that can generate a map. The map can be a hybrid between an orthographic projection map and street-side images, thus including useful aspects from both types of representations. For example, an orthographic projection map is very effective at presenting global relationships among the features of the map but not effective at presenting local detail. In contrast, street -side images show excellent detail but do not convey the global information of an orthographic projection map. The hybrid map can thus provide a richer set of information than conventional maps and can also display objects/features of the hybrid map in multiple perspectives simultaneously on a single representation that is printable.

  • Patent number: 8018472
Abstract: Image processing techniques are described that reduce the amount of bandwidth required to read an image from memory for display. According to the techniques, a processor stores low change rate display layers in a memory such that a processor can read the display layers from the memory using a reduced amount of processing resources. An overlay module blends low change rate display layers into a combined overlay layer. A processor reads the overlay layer from the memory and selectively processes the overlay layer based on processing information for the overlay layer recorded in memory. The processor then blends the overlay layer and a high change rate video display layer to update a single image for display according to a high change rate. In addition, the overlay module updates the overlay layer based on the low change rate display layers according to a low change rate.

Abstract: To provide an image processing technique for easy initial settings when a video image feature is used as an input interface. This is an image processor having an image combining section 106 for combining a mirrored video image feature that includes an image of an operator as a portion thereof and an object image of an object that is associated with a predetermined event, to generate a combined image, and being adapted to provide production of the combined image on a display device. This image processor has a detection section 109 for detecting the position of an image of an operator included in the mirrored video image feature. The image combining section 106 is adapted to combine the object image and the mirrored video image feature in such a manner that the object image is displayed in a range that an image of a hand of the operator can reach, depending on the position of the image of the operator detected by the detection section 109.
