Abstract: When an area in a first image is specified, an amounts of characteristics of image data included in the area and a neighboring area are detected and it is determined based on the amount of the characteristics whether or not a notification display indicating that the area is likely not to be a target area needs to be presented. If it is determined that the notification display needs to be displayed, a notification image that enables the area to be identified is generated for the first image and is combined with a second image to generate a composite image and the composite image is displayed on a display unit. On the other hand, if it is determined that the specified area is likely to be a target area, the second image based on the image data included in the area is displayed over the full screen of the display unit.

Abstract: A computer of an information processing apparatus sets an ? value of each pixel in accordance with a depth value (Z value) of the pixel of a reference image. The ? value is set such that a synthesizing ratio of the reference image is higher for a pixel having a depth value closer to a predetermined reference value. Next, the computer increases the ? value which is set for a pixel having a smaller ? value among two adjacent pixels which have an ? value difference of a predetermined value or greater. Abstract: Systems and methods for selecting an area from the virtual display of a hand held device with a touch screen display and a tilt and movement sensor are provided. View navigation during regular operation is performed by touch screen commands and tilt and movement gestures. During area selection operation, all touch screen commands that perform view navigation or links activation are suspended, limiting touch commands to perform only boundary corner selections. The virtual display may be navigated using the tilt and movement sensor during area selection operation. This eliminates unintended touch commands that may inadvertently change the display during the area selection. The user may perform accurate repositioning of corners or markers placed on the touch screen display by using touch control or tilt and movement gestures. The boundary of the selected area can be automatically adjusted to reduce the affect of unwanted truncation of contents.

  • Patent number: 7990397
Abstract: A laser scanner scans a scene to form a point cloud representing points on a surface within the scene. The point cloud is used to create a corresponding visual representation of the point cloud from a single eye point that is displayed as an image array, such as a cube map, on a computer screen. Each point of the point cloud is represented on the computer screen as a pixel having a value other than a background value. An offset is determined between a reference position of the pixel and an intersection point, which is the point at which a ray from the point to the scanning position intersects a plane coincident with plane of the computer screen including the pixel. The offset is stored in an offset grid, whereby each pixel of the image array has a corresponding offset value in the offset grid. That is, the invention provides for encoding actual point coordinates with respect to the pixels of the image array by storing depth and angular offsets at each pixel in the image array that has an associated point.

The method applies the transformations to images taken by the camera lens to remove distortions. In some embodiments the identified geometries are curvilinear lines that correspond to straight lines in the scene being captured by the lens. Some embodiments provide a method of matching distortion for adding graphical objects to images. The method first removes the distortion on the images as described above. The method then adds the graphical objects to these images. Finally, the method applies inverse transformations on the images to restore them to their original form.

Abstract: Techniques for assigning a subpath attribute to a subpath in a drawing are disclosed. One technique includes editing the drawing to define a current path having a current subpath, matching a previous vertex in a previous path with a current vertex in the current path, and assigning a current subpath attribute to the current subpath based on the vertex match. Another technique includes editing the drawing to define a current path having a current subpath, comparing the current subpath with a previous subpath having a previous subpath attribute, and assigning a previous subpath attribute to the current subpath based on the comparison.

Abstract: A method and a system are disclosed for enabling an automatic creation of a parts list and 3-dimensional illustrations of a product based on 3-dimensional CAD or XVL data of an industrial product consisting of a plurality of parts. A method for generating a parts catalog consisting of a parts list and corresponding disassembly illustrations is provided. This method comprises the steps of (a) assigning reference numerals/symbols based on the parts list; (b) building a disassembly algorithm based on the parts list; and (c) generating disassembly illustrations based on the disassembly algorithm, wherein minimum disassembly units of the disassembly illustrations are parts and parts groups assigned with the reference numerals/symbols, and displaying the reference numeral/symbol for each of the parts and parts groups in the disassembly illustrations.

  • Patent number: 7551173
Abstract: A method (2500) of converting a monotonic curve into edge information is disclosed. A method (2800A) of determining an integer edge crossing value, Xi, for a new edge crossed by a scanline (i.e., an inactive edge being crossed by the scanline for the first time) is also disclosed. Further, a method (2800B) of determining an integer edge crossing value, Xi, for an active edge crossed by a scanline, is also disclosed. The disclosed methods have general application in the representation of monotonic curves. The described methods allow monotonic curves to be accurately represented in terms of edges where the original curve can be reconstructed from the edges. Furthermore, the methods allow edge tracking to be performed such that any resulting error is restricted to a fixed-point division error. At transition points between adjoining segments, an original edge crossing point may be determined to avoid accumulated error.

  • Patent number: 7439990
Abstract: A surface selecting method in an information processing apparatus for selecting a prescribed surface of a 3D model displayed on a display unit of the information processing apparatus includes a display control step of controlling the display unit so as to display the 3D model, and a detection step of detecting an indication to an edge line formed by two adjoining surfaces of the 3D model displayed on the display unit. In addition, a determination step determines whether the indication is an indication to an edge line formed between a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface is not being displayed and the second surface is being displayed on the display unit, and a selection step selects the first surface, which is not being displayed on the display unit, if the indication is an indication to the edge line formed between the first and second surfaces.

Abstract: A method of automatically grouping channels for display uses a pair of multipurpose knobs, one assigned for selection and the other assigned for movement. A channel or a grouping of channels that forms a “virtual group” may be selected from a menu or from a display by the selection knob. The selected channel or virtual group may then be moved to another position on the display by the movement knob. If the movement of the selected channel or virtual group is stopped in proximity to another channel or virtual group, a new virtual group automatically is formed. If movement of the selected channel or virtual group is stopped between proximate channels or within another virtual group, the selected channel or virtual group is inserted automatically between the proximate channels or within the other virtual group to form a new virtual group.

Abstract: An image display system includes an image display device; an image creating device which creates display image data of a display image displayed in the image display device; a face image pickup device which picks up a face image of a person to look at the display image; and a face front point detecting device which creates face image data from the face image, and detects a face front point as a point positioned in front of a face of the person on the display image on the basis of the face image data. Here, the display image data are data such that the display image has a plurality of regions. The image creating device specifies a specific region corresponding to the face front point from the plurality of the regions, and creates the display image data by increasing an amount of information provided from an image corresponding to the specific region.
