Patent number: 8884990Abstract: Scaling arbitrarily complex graphical objects is described by superimposing a grid of four guide lines on a graphical object defined by one or more vectors. The guide lines define nine grid sections. The graphical application development environment (GADE) divides any vectors crossing multiple grid sections into separate section vectors, such that each section contains whole vectors. The application and resulting vector information in each grid section is compiled into an executable file. When executed in a compatible run-time container, the container virtually renders a transformed representation of the graphical object in memory. Using information gathered from analyzing the outline of the transformed representation, the run-time container generates code blocks for transforming each of the vectors within the grid sections an appropriate amount that conforms to the outline information. The resulting transformed vectors are displayed in the running application.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2006Date of Patent: November 11, 2014Assignee: Adobe Systems IncorporatedInventors: Jethro Villegas, Lee Thomason, Michael Richards

Publication number: 20140300646Abstract: According to various embodiments, a dolly zoom effect is generated using light field image data. The dolly zoom effect simulates an in-camera technique wherein a camera moves toward or away from the subject in such a way that the subject is kept at the same size throughout the effect. The effect causes the relative size of foreground background elements to change while foreground elements such as the subject remain the same size. The display device displays a virtual keyboard, and the virtual keyboard is arranged with a plurality of virtual keys that can be chosen remotely by a plurality of direction keys of a remote controller. The method includes following: receiving cursor movement information and confirmation information transmitted by the remote controller; converting the cursor movement information and confirmation information into characters of virtual keys of a first key size configuration model of the virtual keyboard, and converting the characters into words; performing an operation on the words respectively by using a preset algorithm to generate a second key size configuration model of the virtual keyboard; and adjusting horizontal sizes of at least a part of the virtual keys of the virtual keyboard according to the second key size configuration model.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2012Date of Patent: September 23, 2014Assignee: AmTRAN TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd.Inventors: Chih-Jen Kuo, Kuang-Cheng Chao

Publication number: 20140267436Abstract: Techniques are described for displaying projects of images as “collages”. Collages differ from conventional thumbnail displays of projects in that collages display an entire project as if the project were a single image. Consequently, collages better convey the characteristics of projects as a whole, while de-emphasizing the distinctiveness of individual images within the projects. When displayed as collages, side-by-side comparisons may be readily performed between projects as a whole. For example, a single display may include collages for multiple projects, thereby allowing viewers to quickly tell how the projects differ in a variety of ways, including but not limited to size of shoot or density of shoot, dominant color, mood, time of day, bracketed shots or bursts, location and subject matter. The content of the collage for a project is based on the individual images that belong to the project.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 28, 2014Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventor: Egan Schulz

Publication number: 20140267432Abstract: A method to select an appropriate window size for local image processing uses two window sizes: a very large but impractical size and a small and practical size. Two images are generated for the desired image processing under both window sizes. The difference of these two images eliminates common non-linear nature of the local image processing and only contains low-frequency artifacts generated under a smaller window size. By taking the Fourier transform of the difference image, an approximated noise spectrum of low-frequency artifacts introduced by the small and practical window size is able to be observed. Alternatively, a frequency analysis of the smaller window size is able to be conducted by calculating the difference of cross-correlation functions and noise spectra under the same two window sizes. An appropriate window size is able to be selected based on such frequency analysis.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: SONY CORPORATIONInventors: Xiaogang Dong, Farhan A. Patent number: 8836726Abstract: Exemplary embodiments can include methods, devices, and executable instructions for autoscaling displays containing moving data (e.g., data that changes with respect to time). Embodiments make use of counters and an algorithm to autoscale a display in a manner that can approximate the behavior of a user. For example, embodiments may autoscale a display under conditions that would cause a typical user to manually autoscale the display.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2010Date of Patent: September 16, 2014Assignee: The MathWorks, Inc.Inventor: Jason Jeffrey Schickler
