  • Patent number: 8907970
Abstract: A method of generating an e-book document comprises representing some or all of a page of an electronic document as a graphic textures sequence derived from the document page. The sequence comprises successively smaller graphic textures, arranging them to form a first mip-map suitable for use by 3D graphics hardware, and outputting an e-book document comprising the first mip-map representing some or all of the document page. A method of reading an e-book document includes accessing at least a portion of the mip-map comprising the sequence of graphic textures, constructing a surface in a 3D virtual space comprising one or more polygons, applying to the polygon surface a graphic texture derived from the accessed part of the mip-map responsive to scaling of the polygon surface with respect to an e-book reader display, and displaying the textured polygon surface on the display, thereby displaying some or all of the page.

Abstract: An image reducing unit performs a reduction process for each reduction target area in one of a primary scanning direction and a secondary scanning direction, and subsequently performs a reduction process for each reduction target area in the other of the primary scanning direction and the secondary scanning direction. A binarizing unit binarizes pixel values of pixels in the reduction target area. A characteristic value identifying unit identifies a characteristic value on the basis of a pattern of the binarized pixel values and integrates the characteristic value. When the integrated value of the characteristic value exceeds a threshold value before the image reduction unit finishes the reduction processes, a control unit terminates the reduction process, changes the reduction ratio so as to increase a size of a reduced image, and causes the image reducing unit to perform the reduction process with the changed reduction ratio again.

  • Patent number: 8884990
Abstract: Scaling arbitrarily complex graphical objects is described by superimposing a grid of four guide lines on a graphical object defined by one or more vectors. The guide lines define nine grid sections. The graphical application development environment (GADE) divides any vectors crossing multiple grid sections into separate section vectors, such that each section contains whole vectors. The application and resulting vector information in each grid section is compiled into an executable file. When executed in a compatible run-time container, the container virtually renders a transformed representation of the graphical object in memory. Using information gathered from analyzing the outline of the transformed representation, the run-time container generates code blocks for transforming each of the vectors within the grid sections an appropriate amount that conforms to the outline information. The resulting transformed vectors are displayed in the running application.

  • Patent number: 8847993
Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for a Resolution Parameter Modifier. The Resolution Parameter Modifier detects a modification of a document resolution setting from a first resolution to a second resolution. The Resolution Parameter Modifier identifies a resolution dependent parameter(s) associated with a graphical effect(s) applied upon a graphical object(s) in a document, where the graphical object was previously converted from a vector-based object to a raster-based object. The resolution dependent parameter is defined to scale a visual result of the graphical effect with respect to a given document resolution. The Resolution Parameter Modifier updates the resolution dependent parameter in accordance with the second resolution. As the document is rendered at the second resolution, the Resolution Parameter Modifier re-executes the graphical effect on the graphical object in accordance with an updated resolution dependent parameter(s).

Abstract: A mobile phone includes a first display 11, a second display 21 arranged juxtaposed with the first display 11, and touch panels 12, 22 disposed on the displays 11, 21 for detecting that an icon has been dragged. In response to user's dragging an icon, a CPU 100 executes a reduced screen display processing of reducing in size a display screen of each of the displays 11, 21 to display the reduced display screens on the display on which the dragging operation is being performed. When the dragging operation has finished, the reduced display screens are returned to the display screens having the original size. Then, the CPU 100 displays the icon at a position, on the display screen having the original size, corresponding to the position of the icon on the reduced display screen at a time when the dragging operation has finished.

Abstract: A method for adaptively adjusting sizes of virtual keys and a display device using the same are provided. The display device displays a virtual keyboard, and the virtual keyboard is arranged with a plurality of virtual keys that can be chosen remotely by a plurality of direction keys of a remote controller. The method includes following: receiving cursor movement information and confirmation information transmitted by the remote controller; converting the cursor movement information and confirmation information into characters of virtual keys of a first key size configuration model of the virtual keyboard, and converting the characters into words; performing an operation on the words respectively by using a preset algorithm to generate a second key size configuration model of the virtual keyboard; and adjusting horizontal sizes of at least a part of the virtual keys of the virtual keyboard according to the second key size configuration model.

Abstract: Techniques are described for displaying projects of images as “collages”. Collages differ from conventional thumbnail displays of projects in that collages display an entire project as if the project were a single image. Consequently, collages better convey the characteristics of projects as a whole, while de-emphasizing the distinctiveness of individual images within the projects. When displayed as collages, side-by-side comparisons may be readily performed between projects as a whole. For example, a single display may include collages for multiple projects, thereby allowing viewers to quickly tell how the projects differ in a variety of ways, including but not limited to size of shoot or density of shoot, dominant color, mood, time of day, bracketed shots or bursts, location and subject matter. The content of the collage for a project is based on the individual images that belong to the project.

  • Publication number: 20140267432
Abstract: A method to select an appropriate window size for local image processing uses two window sizes: a very large but impractical size and a small and practical size. Two images are generated for the desired image processing under both window sizes. The difference of these two images eliminates common non-linear nature of the local image processing and only contains low-frequency artifacts generated under a smaller window size. By taking the Fourier transform of the difference image, an approximated noise spectrum of low-frequency artifacts introduced by the small and practical window size is able to be observed. Alternatively, a frequency analysis of the smaller window size is able to be conducted by calculating the difference of cross-correlation functions and noise spectra under the same two window sizes. An appropriate window size is able to be selected based on such frequency analysis.
