The relationships of control points of the vector-based graphic design, with respect to each other and with respect to the coordinate system of the workspace, are determined prior to rescaling the vector-based graphic design. Subsequent a multiplication of the coordinate values of the control points by the non-integer scaling factor to scale the original vector-based graphic design, the relationships of the control points, in the scaled vector-based graphic design, are determined and compared to the relationships of the control points in the original vector-based graphic design. Abstract: This invention provides systems and methods that allow a user to change the size of a background used with a graphics-based user interface. This enables tailored background sizes based on user preference and allowable conditions, which are particularly useful with display devices having a large display area. By custom sizing a background to current conditions, a user may navigate an image among obstacles at a receiving surface and obstacles along a projection path between a projection lens and receiving surface. In addition, a user may customize the background size on a large LCD screen according to more suitable dimensions for an image used in the background or to a personal preference, thereby creating a personalized look and feel for the graphics-based user interface. Abstract: A computing system that supports the use of multiple displays in display mirroring mode and extended display mode may automatically determine a display mode in which to configure the system (with little or no user input) based on various characteristics of the displays in the system. For example, the system may determine that a television, projector, or other presentation type display is connected in the system, and in response, may determine that the system should be configured in a display mirroring mode, rather than in an extended display mode. The system may also determine that the presentation type display is the preferred display, and may render image content in a best (or preferred) mode for that display using its native resolution, aspect ratio or color profile. The system may then scale the rendered image content for display on other (non-preferred) displays, such as an internal display, without re-rendering it.

Abstract: Road information is compressed for map tiles of a map containing a network of roads. The map can have different sets of tiles for each zoom level. For a given zoom level, road segments can be grouped based on the class of the roads (e.g., interstate highway, state highway, divided highway, side street, etc.). The road segments of a particular class can be combined into paths, and a representative segment can be chosen for each path. The features of the representative segment can be used in displaying the corresponding path, thereby reducing the size used to store the path in a map tile. This reduce-size map tile can be transmitted more efficiently due to the smaller size.

Abstract: A display controller executes a comparison mode if a display state is switched to a second display state after one of multiple files is selected from a list of thumbnail images in a first display state. In the comparison mode, the display controller displays a magnified image of the selected file on a first display area at a size suitable for the number of magnified images displayed on the first display area at that time. Accordingly, a desired image can easily be selected from stored images in a terminal device with a display function such as a cell phone.

  • Patent number: 8581936
Abstract: An apparatus generates display data on a display unit. An image constructing unit constructs an image of an image list including a plurality of images each corresponding to an image data file. A data output unit outputs first display data of the image list, and then, when a switching command is received from a user, outputs second display data of the image list in response to the switching command. A confirmation calculating unit calculates a degree of confirmation indicating whether a user confirmation is performed for each of the images in the image list. An image modifying unit modifies the images in the image list based on the degree of confirmation.

  • Patent number: 8581937
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable storage media for resizing images using seam carving techniques may include generation of a partial solution matrix by at least partially isolating dependencies between sub-problems of a dynamic programming problem corresponding to its solution within different regions of an input image. The number and/or shape of the isolated (or partially isolated) sub-problems may be dependent on the access pattern used by a dynamic programming operation to identify seams in the input image. Multiple sub-problems may be processed independently and in parallel on respective processor core(s) or threads thereof to generate the partial solution matrix. The partial solution matrix may then be processed to identify one or more low-cost seams of the input image. The methods may be implemented as stand-alone applications or as program instructions implementing components of a graphics application, executable by a CPU and/or GPU configured for parallel processing.

Abstract: There is disclosed a method and apparatus for a user interface for page view zooming. The method comprises generating a default user interface including an electronic document. The method further includes receiving touchdown and hold data indicating that a user has interacted with a portion of the electronic document and beginning a continuous zoom process for that portion of the electronic document. The method further includes halting the zoom process once a user has released the touch over the portion of the electronic document and displaying the magnified document on the user interface. The method employs a similar operation to enable a de-zooming operation.

Abstract: A comment data acquisition unit acquires comment data for display over a display image, and a superimposition processing unit 162 generates a superimposition image from the comment data. The comment data includes a scaling factor or information related to the scaling factor, and a display requirement determination unit determines whether the scaling factor of the display image and either a scaling factor or information related to the scaling factor included in comment data are in a predetermined relationship. When the scaling factor of the display image and either the scaling factor or the information related to the scaling factor included in the comment data are in the predetermined relationship, a superimposition image generation unit generates a comment image using display information included in the comment data.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus is for rendering a three-dimensional (3D) effect by transforming a first quadrilateral image to a second quadrilateral image. The apparatus includes a target image determining unit, a block determining unit and a graphic unit. The target image determining unit generates an outline associated with the second quadrilateral image according to the first quadrilateral image and the 3D effect. The block determining unit divides an area within the outline into a plurality of second blocks and correspondingly determines a plurality of first blocks from the first quadrilateral image. The graphic unit scales image data of the first blocks to respectively generate image data of the second blocks to obtain the second quadrilateral image.

Abstract: A scaling-up control method and a scaling-up control apparatus are used in a display device. The display device includes a scaler for converting an original image signal into an output image signal by performing a linear interpolation. Moreover, by utilizing a global locking mechanism and a local locking mechanism to perform the linear interpolation to determine the actual position of the interpolated pixel, the position error of the pixel position is largely reduced. Since the difference between the calculated pixel value and the ideal pixel value is reduced, the imaging quality of the output image signal is enhanced.
