  • Patent number: 8542254
Abstract: A graph arbitrarily input by the user is displayed on a dot-matrix display screen. When an instruction to determine any one of the characteristic points, such as intersections, local maxima, or local minima, is given, an characteristic point to be determined is calculated and the result is pointed by pointer P and, at the same time, the coordinates (X, Y) of the characteristic point are displayed. Depending on whether there is one other graph which overlaps or makes contact with the characteristic point of the graph and displayed dots of the graph near the characteristic point, it is determined whether a locus of the graph near the characteristic point is displayed unclearly. If the condition for unclear display has been satisfied, the graph including the characteristic point is enlarged repeatedly at the enlargement factor set by the user until the condition for unclear display is not fulfilled.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for manipulating digital images. A warping module is described that enables the manipulation of a surface by selectively deforming portions of the surface while maintaining local rigidity. The user may position multiple control points on a surface to constrain deformation. The user may specify multiple properties (e.g., translation, rotation, depth, and scale) at each control point. A mesh may be overlaid on the surface. The warping module may perform an initialization in which the properties are propagated other vertices in the mesh to generate an initial deformed mesh. The warping module may then perform an iterative optimization operation on the deformed mesh to improve the deformation while retaining local rigidity. Thus, instead of moving every pixel in the surface, the warping module moves or adjusts coordinates of the vertices of the mesh. The surface is then deformed according to the deformed mesh.

  • Patent number: 8411115
Abstract: Scaling of raster or bitmapped objects is described by converting such raster or bitmapped objects into symbol objects in a graphics development environment (GDE). A grid of lines is superimposed over the symbol visually dividing it into multiple segments. The position and shape of each segment will determine how the symbol is scaled during operation. The various segments may either be locked or editable. When edit input is received to change a size of the symbol, the locked portions of the symbol object are preserved while the editable regions are scaled to accommodate the edit instruction.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for adjusting user interfaces based on entity location. Embodiments of the invention provide applications (or an operating system) with entity distance/proximity data. Applications can then scale content appropriately based on the proximity data. An operating system contains a distance/proximity driver framework for distance/proximity aware hardware sensors (IR, Radar, capacitive, camera, other). The proximity framework performs distance/proximity/number of viewers calculations from sensor data to formulate proximity data. From the proximity data, an application can determine how to scale user interface data.

  • Patent number: RE44258
Abstract: The present invention enables to easily perform a graphic processing even when a touch panel is used. When a resistance film unit is pressed with a pen or a finger, output voltages associated with the X coordinate and the Y coordinate position are changed and these output voltages are transmitted as the X coordinate data and the Y coordinate data to a touch panel driver. According to the output from the resistance film unit, the touch panel driver generates an event for supply to a GUI handler. The touch panel driver includes a two-point specification detector which detects two point specifications and causes to calculate coordinates of the two points. The GUI handler generates a message corresponding to the GUI according to the event and supplies the message to an application. The GUI handler includes a processing mode modification block which differently interprets the event when a single point is specified and when two points are specified, thereby modifying the graphic processing mode.

  • Patent number: RE44353
Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for automating the setup of Locators and Detectors within an image view of an object on the HMI of a vision detector by determining detectable edges and best fitting the Locators and Detectors to a location on the object image view following the establishment of an user selected operating point on the image view, such as by clicking a GUI cursor. In this manner, the initial placement and sizing of the graphical elements for Locator and Detector ROIs are relatively optimized without excessive adjustment by the user. Locators can be selected for direction, including machine or line-movement direction, cross direction or angled direction transverse to cross direction and movement direction. Detectors can be selected based upon particular analysis tools, including brightness tools, contrast tools and trained templates.
