Operator Body-mounted Heads-up Display (e.g., Helmet Mounted Display) Patents (Class 345/8)
  • Patent number: 11050803
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for collaborating in the discovery of Head-Mounted Devices (HMDs) configured for hosting a co-located virtual, augmented, or mixed reality (xR) session. An HMD issues a request to join a co-located xR session. Participating in a co-located xR session requires a joining HMD to obtain authorization from a host HMD. A joining HMD may be located such that direct communications between the joining HMD and the host HMD are either unreliable, or beyond the capabilities of two HMDs. The joining HMD may collaborate with neighboring HMDs to obtain authorization from a host HMD. The host HMD aggregates information from joining HMDs to determine the authorized HMDs and to determine the most reliable forms of direct communication between each pair of HMDs participating in the xR session.

  • Patent number: 10981054
Abstract: Various embodiments are directed towards employing one or more physical sensors arranged on or in proximity to a video game player to obtain biofeedback measures that are then usable to dynamically modify a state of play of a video game. The sensors may be connected or even unconnected to the game player, replace, or otherwise augment traditional physical game controllers. The sensors gather various biofeedback measures and provide such measures to a biofeedback application programming interface (API). Before and/or during video game play, the video game queries the biofeedback API to request inferences about the game player's state of arousal. The response to the query is then used to modify the state of the video game play. Where the video game is a multi-player video game, biofeedback measures from other game players may also be obtained and used to further modify the state of the video game play.

Abstract: Methods and systems for using a position of a mobile device with an integrated display as an input to a video game or other presentation are presented. Embodiments include rendering an avatar on a mobile device such that it appears to overlay a competing user in the real world. Using the mobile device's position, view direction, and the other user's mobile device position, an avatar (or vehicle, etc.) is depicted at an apparently inertially stabilized location of the other user's mobile device or body. Some embodiments may estimate the other user's head and body positions and angles and reflect them in the avatar's gestures.

Abstract: A depth camera assembly (DCA) for depth sensing of a local area. The DCA includes a polarized light generator, an imaging device, and a controller. The polarized light generator modulates one or more optical beams emitted from an illumination source to generate modulated light, and projects the modulated light into the local area as polarized light having a first polarization. The imaging device receives light from the local area, the received light including ambient light and a portion of the polarized light reflected from the local area. The imaging device reduces an intensity of the received light having polarization different from a second polarization to generate filtered light substantially composed of light of the second polarization, and detects the portion of the polarized light having the second polarization using the filtered light. The controller determines depth information for the local area based on the detected portion of the polarized light.
