Abstract: A videoconferencing system has a videoconferencing unit that use portable devices as peripherals for the system. The portable devices obtain near-end audio and send the audio to the videoconferencing unit via a wireless connection. In turn, the videoconferencing unit sends the near-end audio from the loudest portable device along with near-end video to the far-end. The portable devices can control the videoconferencing unit and can initially establish the videoconference by connecting with the far-end and then transferring operations to the videoconferencing unit. To deal with acoustic coupling between the unit's loudspeaker and the portable device's microphone, the unit uses an echo canceller that is compensated for differences in the clocks used in the A/D and D/A converters of the loudspeaker and microphone.

Abstract: An approach for providing device angle image correction. An image (e.g., still or moving) of a subject is captured via a camera of a mobile device. One or more geometrics parameters associated with the subject are determined in relation to the mobile device. One or more camera parameters for the mobile device are also determined. An image correction scheme is applied to the image based on the camera parameters and the geometrics parameters to output a modified image.

Abstract: A method is provided in one example embodiment and includes receiving video input data associated with a video stream and identifying one or more spatial plane coordinates within the video input data. The spatial plane coordinates can be associated with a smartphone configured to operate as a token in a video presentation associated with the video stream. The method also includes receiving location information that includes accelerometer data associated with the smartphone, and identifying a location of the smartphone based on the one or more spatial plane coordinates and the location information that includes the accelerometer data. In other embodiments, the method may include providing image data associated with a representation of the token as an overlay for a resultant video stream. The location information can include orientation data that includes a direction to which the smartphone can point, and an angle of rotation associated with the smartphone.

Abstract: A positioning system and a method thereof are provided. In the positioning method, a first and a second pose information of a moving device are obtained by a first positioning device and a second positioning device respectively, wherein the first pose information corresponds to the second pose information. In addition, a plurality of first candidacy pose information is generated in an error range of the first pose information. Furthermore, a plurality of second candidacy pose information is generated according to the first pose information respectively. One of the second candidacy pose information having a smallest error derived from the second pose information is selected for updating the pose information of the first positioning device and parameter information of the second positioning device. Thereby, pose information of the moving device is updated and parameter information of the second orientation devices is calibrated simultaneously.

Abstract: Systems and methods for model-based video fixing are disclosed. A video can be retrieved and analyzed to determine if any portion of the video can be represented by a model. If a portion that can be modeled is identified, a model that approximates the portion can be specified, the portion can be removed from the video, and instructions for modeling the video can be formatted. The video and the instructions can be transmitted to a receiving device, which can synthesize the model and the received video to generate a model-based video. Systems for providing the model-based video fixing are also disclosed.
