Abstract: A mobile video-conferencing device includes a camera built into the device housing and configured to capture images of a user while viewing the display, including an infrared (IR) light source and IR sensitive image sensor for capturing images of the user under low-light or uneven light conditions, or both, to permit a face detection component to detect the user's face. A face recognition component is configured to associate a specific identity of a user to a detected face. An image processing component replaces face data of the detected face with face data stored in the memory in accordance with the specific identity of the user to enhance and transmit to a remote video conference participant an image of the detected face captured under low light or uneven light conditions, or both.

  • Patent number: 8379074
Abstract: Herein described is a system and method that tracks the face of a person engaged in a videophone conversation. In addition to performing facial tracking, the invention provides stabilization of facial images that are transmitted during the videophone conversation. The face is tracked by employing one or more algorithms that correlate videophone captured facial images against a stored facial image. The face may be better identified by way of employing one or more voice recognition algorithms. The one or more voice recognition algorithms may correlate utterances of the person engaged in a conversation to one or more stored utterances. The identified utterances are subsequently mapped to a stored facial image. In a representative embodiment, the system used for performing facial tracking and image stabilization comprises an image sensor, a lens, an actuator, and a controller/processor.

Abstract: In an image information storage device, a registration information storage unit stores registration information while associating it with first image data stored in an image data storage unit, while storing registration information for area information representing one of areas set in a drawing area of first image data stored in the image data storage unit. When an input specifying an area represented by area information is made while an image represented by first image data stored in the image data storage unit is displayed on a display screen, a search unit searches for second image data associated with registration information that has been associated with the area information in the registration information storage unit. An output control unit controls output of image/information to the display screen while outputting an image represented by the second image data search by the search unit to the display screen.
