Abstract: A system and method for evaluating quality of photographs of an item, such as a damaged vehicle for auction, includes displaying a predetermined set of views of the vehicle in a predetermined arrangement on a display screen for viewing by a reviewer. The predetermined views include an overlay of an alignment guide on some of the photographs. The reviewer enters a rating for the photographs of the set as a pass or fail rating, wherein the fail rating includes one of a plurality of fail ratings identifying a problem with at least one of the photographs. Following entry of a rating by the reviewer, a next set of photographs of a next item is displayed in the same predetermined arrangement as for the first item. Photographs receiving a fail rating are identified for re-taking of the photographs of the item. Overlays are provided for alignment of the object for photographers.

  • Publication number: 20150022675
Abstract: Cell phones and other portable devices are equipped with a variety of technologies by which existing functionality is improved, and new functionality is provided. Some aspects relate to imaging architectures, in which a cell phone's image sensor is one in a chain of stages that successively act on instructions/data, to capture and later process imagery. Other aspects relate to distribution of processing tasks between the device and remote resources (“the cloud”). Elemental image processing, such as filtering and edge detection—and even some simpler template matching operations—may be performed on the cell phone. Other operations are referred out to remote service providers. The remote service providers can be identified using techniques such as a reverse auction, though which they compete for processing tasks. Other aspects of the disclosed technologies relate to visual search capabilities, and determining appropriate actions responsive to different image inputs.

Abstract: A wireless video camera that permits bookmarking of objects in the surrounding environment of the camera. When a remote user selects to see (via streaming video) a previously bookmarked object, the camera determines the appropriate camera viewing parameter to replicate the bookmarked view of the object. To account for an intervening change in position of the camera, the camera may compute any change in position of the camera, and adjust the camera viewing parameters for the bookmarked view to compensate for the camera's updated position so that the original bookmarked view of the object can be replicated. Also, in a streaming video mode where the camera is streaming video to the remote user, the remote user can use a still image from the camera to control the remote camera.

In case that the area of a main object having a highest decided priority level and the display position having the predetermined relative positional relationship for an item related to another object overlap each other, the display control apparatus adjusts the display position of the item related to the other object to eliminate the overlapping, and displays the item related to the other object.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to classification of documents. A user is able to take a snapshot of a document using a smart device. The photo of the document is matched to one or more existing templates. The one or more existing templates are locally stored on the smart device. If the document in the photo is recognized based on pattern matching, then the photo is tagged with an existing classification. The tagged photo can be locally stored on the smart device, uploaded to and backed up in a cloud, or both. The user is able to perform a search for a particular document based on key words rather than to visually review all photos.

  • Patent number: 8896708
Abstract: Certain embodiments provide methods and systems that link a video recording device and a processing device to enhance video media content development workflow and enable a variety of features. For example, a video camera may send all or a portion of a recorded video to a separate computer that can determine information to be associated with the recorded video. In some embodiments, the computer extracts information from the recorded video to be embedded or otherwise associated with the recorded video as metadata. In some cases, the computer retrieves information from other sources such as Internet websites for association with the recorded video. In some embodiments, the computer sends the information back to the camera where it is associated with the recorded video stored at the camera. In some embodiments, the computer provides the recorded video and information to other locations and parties, for example, to a director remotely overseeing filming.
