Abstract: Systems and methods are described for controlling media content based on user presence information. A user interaction with playing of a first media asset generated for presentation at a consumption device may be identified, and in response, historical wireless signal characteristics of a wireless network, over which wireless signals are used to generate for display the first media asset, may be determined. While a second media asset is generated for display, the second media asset at the consumption device may be modified based on user presence information determined by comparing current wireless signal characteristics of the wireless network to the historical wireless signal characteristics of the wireless network.

Abstract: A caption encoder system is provided that can include a computer system and a caption encoder card. The caption encoder card can include a caption encoder module having at least one of: an input component, a field programmable gate array (FPGA), a microcontroller unit (MCU), a peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) bridge, and a plurality of output components. The input component can be configured to receive an input SDI stream. The FPGA can be in communication with the input component and can be configured to compile an output SDI stream with embedded closed captions. The MCU can be in communication with the FPGA. The PCIe bridge can be in communication with the microcontroller unit and a plurality of universal serial bus to serial devices. The plurality of output components can be communication with the field programmable gate array.

Abstract: A transmission device according to the present disclosure includes: a transmission unit configured to output, to a transmission channel, a plurality of packets each including a payload and a header added to the payload, the payload including pixel data corresponding to one line included in an image of one frame; and an insertion ratio calculator configured to calculate an insertion ratio of a padding code, the padding code being inserted into the payload to fill a difference between a transmission rate of the pixel data that is inputted to the transmission unit and a transmission rate of the pixel data that is outputted from the transmission unit to the transmission channel.

Abstract: A system and method for compiling and converting Aeronautical Radio Incorporated (ARINC) 424 or Digital Aeronautical Flight Information File (DAFIF) files into a binary database. The system and method include a controller module for receiving, extracting, converting, performing a set of quality checks, and directing the output or communication of the binary database to a remote server. The remote server can include a controller module that can verify validity of the communicated binary database and create aircraft loadable media for a flight management system navigational database.

Abstract: Techniques are described for pre-exporting chunks of video content during video editing of a video editing project. For example, the chunks of the video editing project can be monitored for changes. When a change is detected to a chunk, the chunk can be pre-exported as an independent chunk that is combinable with other pre-exported chunks and without encoding or re-encoding the pre-exported chunks. In addition, the monitoring and pre-exporting can be performed while the video editing project is editable by a user of the video editing project. When the video editing project is ready to be finalized, the pre-exported chunks can be combined to generate, at least in part, a media file. The generated media file can then be output.

Abstract: An Internet of things (IoT) environment-based user terminal apparatus is provided. The user terminal apparatus includes a transceiver configured to perform communication with a plurality of devices constituting an IoT environment, a display device configured to display a user interface which includes a first object list including a first object indicating a first device in which a specific condition is set among the plurality of devices and a second object list including a second object indicating a second device configured to provide an alarm, and a processor configured to control the first device and the second device so that the second device is set to provide the alarm in response to satisfaction of the specific condition set to the first device, in response to the first object being selected from the first object list and the second object being selected from the second object list through the user interface.

Abstract: Methods and systems associated with data modification are described. Examples can include receiving, at a controller of a device, data associated with a read or write command transmitted to a memory resource and modifying the data using logic before transmitting the data to a host or image sensor or before writing the data to the memory resource. The modification can include removing one or more bits from the data, reordering one or more bits of the data, changing a format of the data, or any combination thereof. The modified data can be transmitted to the host or image sensor or written to the memory resource. In some examples, a plurality of memory devices can combine modified data for transmitting to a host.

Abstract: Various embodiments of systems, apparatus, and/or methods are described for presenting relevant programming information. A viewing action of an audiovisual event is detected on a receiving device. Data associated with the viewed audiovisual event is then retrieved. The retrieved data includes at least receiving device information and audiovisual event information. The retrieved data is then stored in a historical viewing database, and at least one scoring table is generated from the data in the historical viewing database. Programming information for a plurality of candidate audiovisual events that are available to be viewed is then organized based at least in part on the at least one scoring table and a selected time, and the organized programming information is output to a presentation device.

Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose methods and systems for accounting for MPTCP data usage. The embodiments include tracking MPTCP data usage of a plurality of applications. The embodiments include reporting the MPTCP data usage information to a data tracking module. Each of the plurality of applications is associated with a UID, which is tagged with MPTCP packets of the plurality of applications. The MPTCP packets of the plurality of applications can be transferred through at least one sub-socket, in at least one sub-flow. The at least one sub-flow can be associated with the system (OS) ID. The embodiments include updating the system UID, associated with the at least one sub-flow, with UIDs of the applications, whose data is included in the at least one sub-flow.

Abstract: A technique is described for converting a variety of video streams from transmission sources into a single designated video stream on a client device. As an example, a converter device may receive video streams from multiple transmission sources and select the video stream to convert and output on a client device based on the signal quality. In some examples, the converter device may switch between transmission sources. The converter device may measure the time offset between the video streams of the transmission sources and buffer one of the video streams to align the timing of the video streams, so the user does not detect a timing delay while viewing the video content.

Upon determining that a television program or advertisement contains a special tag that is associated with a third party, the DVR displays, to the user, a prompt that invites the DVR user to allow the DVR to send the user's contact information to the third party. If the user gives permission for the DVR to send the contact information to the third party, then the DVR sends the contact information to the third party (e.g., over the Internet).

Abstract: The present technology relates to a receiving device, a receiving method, a transmitting device, and a transmitting method that enable operation of subtitles to be displayed in a superimposed manner on broadcast content reliably. The receiving device acquires trigger information for providing a function relating to subtitles, the trigger information including location information by which a resource on the Internet is identifiable; acquires subtitle information including a document relating to subtitles described in a predetermined computer language, on the basis of the location information included in the trigger information; and controls displaying of the subtitles on the basis of at least one of the trigger information and the subtitle information. The present technology is applicable to a television receiver capable of receiving digital broadcast signals, for example.

Abstract: At times, it may be desirable to determine that a client system is, or to determine the number of client systems that are, presenting particular dynamic content when an auditable event occurs in the dynamic content. One manner of making the determination may include accessing presentation time information that indicates the time(s) at which one or more client systems present particular dynamic content and accessing event time information indicating the time(s) at which one or more auditable events occur in the dynamic particular content. Based on the presentation time information and the event time information, it may be possible to determine that a client system is, or to determine the number of client systems that are, presenting particular dynamic content when an auditable event occurs in the dynamic content.

The web widget may be provided for presentation via one or more third-party webpages. The web widget may include an input portion and a graphic visualization portion. A first instance of the web widget may be presented via a first third-party webpage. Via the input portion, input from users may be received on a plurality of aspects of one or more topics. The input may convey users' opinions of the plurality of aspects. The input may be received responsive to the users manipulating the input portion of the web widget. The graphical visualization may be updated in real time to represent input received from a plurality of users from a plurality of third-party web sites, or anywhere where the web widget may be displayed.

Abstract: When a viewer is determined to be interested in an advertisement, a media guidance application may identify a second related advertisement to display to the viewer. The second advertisement may be displayed following the first interesting advertisement. To avoid timing issues, media content following the advertisements may be buffered so that the viewer can catch up on the media content without missing anything.

Abstract: A configuration capable of performing a process of presenting the emergency information to the viewer promptly and reliably is implemented. Middleware of a receiving device that performs a broadcasting content output process receives an emergency information delivery notification transmitted by a transmitting device and generates emergency information event notification data including configuration data of the received emergency information delivery notification. An output data control unit acquires event notification data and executes a process of acquiring or displaying emergency information on the basis of the acquired event notification data. For example, in a case where emergency information overlaid on an image is delivered, application presentation content is deleted in accordance with an event notification, and in the case of signaling emergency information delivery, a process of acquiring and outputting the emergency information promptly is executed.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to selectively playing a video on a mobile communication device. The device monitors events and upon detecting a trigger event, determines whether to delay the playing of a first video or to attempt to play the first video. Upon determining to delay, the device stores a delay record. The device repeats the above steps to generate multiple delay records. Upon determining to attempt to play the first video, the device displays a user control to allow the user to reject the first video and stores an attempt record. Upon detecting user interaction with the user control element, the device calculates a relationship between the delay records, the attempt record, and the user interaction with the user control element. This allows the device to determine whether to delay the playing of a second video or to play the second video. Upon determining to play the second video, the device plays the second video.

Abstract: A method and system for allocating a variable number of bits per frame in a distributed video encoding using a complexity analyzer is disclosed. The method includes receiving an input video for allocating the number of bits for each segment based on the complexity of the segment. Further, the method includes splitting the input video into plurality of segments. Further, the method includes determining the number of bits to be allocated to the plurality of segments based on the complexity measurement of the input video. In an embodiment, single complexity analyzer can be used to determine the complexity of the plurality of segments. In another embodiment, separate complexity analyzer can be used for each segment to determine the complexity. Further, the method includes allocating the bits to the plurality of segments of the input video. Further, the method includes combining the plurality of segments to form a single output video; thereby, obtaining the encoded output video.

The TV or in some embodiments an Internet server communicating with the TV use speech recognition principles to recognize the speech, enter a database using the recognized speech as entering argument, and return a link to an Internet site hosting the desired video. The link can be displayed on the TV for selection thereof by a user to retrieve the video.

Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment, image content is rendered to include a digital watermark pattern at an essentially fixed scale, regardless of the size of screen on which the content is displayed. If the requested section is a section for which the content distribution system is arranged to provide a plurality of differently watermarked versions of that section, a particular version is identified based on an identifier of the device and a response a response containing an indication of the particular version of the requested section is provided to the device. Abstract: As disclosed herein a method, executed by a computer, includes receiving, from an augmented reality device, a pairing request, negotiating with the augmented reality device to generate a new encryption key and a mapping plan for presenting optically readable codes, that correspond to one or more images, on a touch sensitive display device. The method further includes presenting, on the touch sensitive display device, the optically readable codes, and receiving a user selection from the touch sensitive display device. The optical codes are overlayed by the wearers of an augmented reality system with an un-encrypted or otherwise modified form of the optical code. Abstract: In an approach, a server computer receives a request from a client computer specifying particular content for a particular user, wherein the particular content is associated with an original audio language. In response to receiving the request, the server computer selects a preferred audio language and a preferred subtitle language for the particular content based on a particular record of a preference database. The server computer returns asset identifying data that the client computer uses to obtain a stream of the particular content using the preferred audio language and the preferred subtitle language from a content delivery network (CDN) or other asset location. The server computer receives a message from the client computer that identifies an presented audio language and a presented subtitle language that were presented to the particular user while the particular content streamed.
