  • Patent number: 8564721
Abstract: The addition of temporal positions to an inverted index allows for temporal queries in addition to phrase queries. Store additional binary data for each term instance in the word-level index to prepare for searching in response to time-based queries from a user is accomplished through the use of Lucene's binary payload feature where the payload structure is defined for use in such searches. The pre-defined payload fields consist of three integers, which account for 12 extra bytes that must be stored for each term instance. A content database on the Master/Administrator server node provides the indexes for search into content in response to user events, returning results in JSON format. The search results may then be used to locate and present content segments to a user containing both requested search term results and the time location and duration within a content asset where the search term(s) is found.

Abstract: Spherical microphone arrays provide an ability to compute the acoustical intensity corresponding to different spatial directions in a given frame of audio data. These intensities may be exhibited as an image and these images are generated at a high frame rate to achieve a video image if the data capture and intensity computations can be performed sufficiently quickly, thereby creating a frame-rate audio camera. A description is provided herein regarding how such a camera is built and the processing done sufficiently quickly using graphics processors. The joint processing of and captured frame-rate audio and video images enables applications such as visual identification of noise sources, beamforming and noise-suppression in video conferencing and others, by accounting for the spatial differences in the location of the audio and the video cameras. Based on the recognition that the spherical array can be viewed as a central projection camera, such joint analysis can be performed.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed invention include an apparatus, method, and computer program product for providing a video source with a secondary audio source. For example, in one embodiment, a content provider receives a broadcast signal that includes a video component and an audio component from a content producer. The content provider receives a second audio component that provides audio corresponding to the video component of the broadcast signal. The second audio component is received from a second source, such as, but not limited to, a radio broadcast and/or an internet source. The content producer transmits the video component and the second audio component to a consumer device.

Abstract: For use as or in connection with a set-top box, a digital TV broadcast signal is decoded by processing its audio stream into and read from a FIFO buffer. According to certain embodiments, fullness of the FIFO buffer is compared to a reference fullness, which can be updated based on changes to the bit rate of the audio stream. In response to the FIFO buffer fullness, the set top box regulates the rate at which the audio stream is decoded. The disclosed decoding methods do not need to rely on the accuracy or presence of a system time encoded into the broadcast signal.
