  • Patent number: 11455710
Abstract: A device and method of object detection in a scene by combining traditional 2D visual light imaging such as pixels with 3D data such as a voxel map are described. A single lens directs image light from the scene to a dichroic mirror which then provides light to a both a 2D visible light image sensor and a 3D sensor, such as a time-of-flight sensor that uses a transmitted, modulated IR light beam, which is then synchronously demodulated to determine time of flight as well as 2D coordinates. 2D portions (non-distance) of 3D voxel image data are aligned with the 2D pixel image data such that each is responsive to the same portion of the scene. Embodiments determine true reflectivity, true scale, and image occlusion. 2D images may be enhanced by the 3D true reflectivity. Combined data may be used as training data for object detection and recognition.

  • Patent number: 11386528
Abstract: A pixel filter has a filter module that performs a first recursive filter operation in a first direction through a sequence of pixels to form a first filtered pixel value for each pixel, and performs a second recursive filter operation in a second direction through the sequence of pixels to form a second filtered pixel value for each pixel, the first and second recursive filter operations forming a respective filtered pixel value for a given pixel in dependence on the pixel value at that pixel and the filtered pixel value preceding that pixel in their respective direction of operation. The filtered pixel value of the preceding pixel is scaled by a measure of similarity between data associated with that pixel and its preceding pixel. Filter logic combines the first and second filtered pixel values formed by the first and second recursive filter operations to generate a filter output for the pixel, for each pixel of the sequence.

  • Patent number: 11373322
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a device and method for depth sensing by utilizing the combination of a ranging sensor and an image sensor. The ranging sensor can accurately detect distance measurement from an object. The image sensor can take images with high resolution of the object. By combining each sensor data from the ranging sensor and the image sensor, accurate depth information with high resolution of the object may be obtained. A structured light having patterned shapes are used in conjunction with the ranging sensor to receive reflected patterned shapes of the object. These reflected patterned shapes are used to analyze distance measurements associated with the specific patterned shapes. These distance measurements from both the ranging sensor and the image sensor is aligned and combined to generate an accurate depth map with high resolution using a processor of an electronic device including the ranging sensor and the image sensor.

  • Patent number: 11375108
Abstract: A computer vision camera unit comprising first and second pairs, of image capture assemblies, both of which have an approximately same orientation to a first axis. The first and second pairs are optically focused to capture first and second fields of view that, at least, overlap each other. Providing the first and second pairs with imager chips of differing light sensitivity permits high dynamic range to be realized. Having the second field of view within the first field of view permits specialization, between the first and second pairs, similar to the roles of peripheral and foveal vision, found in biological stereo vision systems. The image capture assemblies can be organized in a rectangular configuration that implies third and fourth pairs, orthogonal to the first and second pairs. The orthogonal but interlocking nature, of the first and second pairs in relation to the third and fourth pairs, enables an autocalibration technique.
