  • Patent number: 11150777
Abstract: A wearable display system can automatically recognize a physical remote or a device that the remote serves using computer vision techniques. The wearable system can generate a virtual remote with a virtual control panel viewable and interactable by user of the wearable system. The virtual remote can emulate the functionality of the physical remote. The user can select a virtual remote for interaction, for example, by looking or pointing at the parent device or its remote control, or by selecting from a menu of known devices. The virtual remote may include a virtual button, which is associated with a volume in the physical space. The wearable system can detect that a virtual button is actuated by determining whether a portion of the user's body (e.g., the user's finger) has penetrated the volume associated with the virtual button.

  • Patent number: 10915731
Abstract: Certain examples described herein enable semantically-labelled representations of a three-dimensional (3D) space to be generated from video data. In described examples, a 3D representation is a surface element or ‘surfel’ representation, where the geometry of the space is modelled using a plurality of surfaces that are defined within a 3D co-ordinate system. Object-label probability values for spatial elements of frames of video data may be determined using a two-dimensional image classifier. Surface elements that correspond to the spatial elements are identified based on a projection of the surface element representation using an estimated pose for a frame. Object-label probability values for the surface elements are then updated based on the object-label probability values for corresponding spatial elements. This results in a semantically-labelled 3D surface element representation of objects present in the video data.

  • Patent number: 10827161
Abstract: This invention provides a codec for depth compression and decompression in 3D-video streaming, recording and visualization applications. PROBLEM: Use of 3D-video imaging is relevant to a vast of data to be recorded into storage media and streamed in real-time through communication media with bandwidth limitations. Reduction of 3D-video data amount can be achieved by using variety of compression methods. Some conventional methods of 2D-video processing are applicable also for 3D-video streams. However, significant reduction of video data amount is relevant to use of lossy processing methods, operation-greedy algorithms, and challenges for visual quality of the processed 3D-videos. SOLUTION: The codec for 3D-video depth information compression and decompression, by employing depth similarities between neighboring rows of a single depth frame, and capabilities of rANS-algorithm to compress sets of values that have highly irregular distribution.
