Publication number: 20130278826Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for the synchronization of media streams. In an embodiment, a gross synchronization may first be performed on the media streams, using the broadcast delays of the streams. A refined synchronization may then be performed, taking advantage of corresponding visual or audio cues in each stream. In the event that the media streams represent the same content (e.g., the same content from different providers), matching momentary actions in the video media streams may be used to achieve refined synchronization. In the event that the media streams are different (e.g., different broadcasts of the same event), other cues may be used to achieve refined synchronization, where these other cues are part of the underlying event but independent of the particular broadcasts. Examples of these latter cues may be the sound of a referee's whistle or the crack of a bat hitting a baseball.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2011Publication date: October 24, 2013Inventors: Tondra J. Patent number: 8564721Abstract: The addition of temporal positions to an inverted index allows for temporal queries in addition to phrase queries. Store additional binary data for each term instance in the word-level index to prepare for searching in response to time-based queries from a user is accomplished through the use of Lucene's binary payload feature where the payload structure is defined for use in such searches. The pre-defined payload fields consist of three integers, which account for 12 extra bytes that must be stored for each term instance. A content database on the Master/Administrator server node provides the indexes for search into content in response to user events, returning results in JSON format. The search results may then be used to locate and present content segments to a user containing both requested search term results and the time location and duration within a content asset where the search term(s) is found.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2012Date of Patent: October 22, 2013Inventors: Matthew Berry, Changwen Yang

Publication number: 20130141643Abstract: Apparatus and method for synchronizing audio and video frames in a multimedia data stream. In accordance with some embodiments, the multimedia stream is received into a memory to provide a sequence of video frames in a first buffer and a sequence of audio frames in a second buffer. The sequence of video frames is monitored for an occurrence of at least one of a plurality of different types of visual events. The occurrence of a selected visual event is detected that spans multiple successive video frames in the sequence of video frames. A corresponding audio event is detected that spans multiple successive audio frames in the sequence of audio frames. The relative timing between the detected audio and visual events is adjusted to synchronize the associated sequences of video and audio frames.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2012Publication date: June 6, 2013Applicant: DOUG CARSON & ASSOCIATES, INC.Inventor: DOUG CARSON & ASSOCIATES, INC.

Patent number: 8451375Abstract: A video signal and an audio signal are transmitted from a source device to a sink device in conformity with respective predetermined interfaces through respective transmission channels. The respective interfaces include bidirectional interface such as an HDMI and an IEEE1394. A controller acquires delay information (TLv) representing the total delay time of the devices connected to the transmission channels conforming to the bidirectional interface and corrects the difference in reproduction time between the video and audio signals by using the acquired delay information (TLv).Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2006Date of Patent: May 28, 2013Assignee: Panasonic CorporationInventor: Naoki Ejima
