During the PSR mode, the TCON can drive the display panel using an image frame stored in a memory of the TCON. Additionally, during the PSR mode, the host device can adjust a scaler and/or resolution associated with the TCON. Once the host device has finished adjusting the TCON, the TCON can exit the PSR mode and the host device can provide a new data stream to the TCON without any apparent display artifacts being output by the display panel.

This occurs when the Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) clock, which is derived from the HDMI TMDS clock or HDMI source, is “distorted” due to its jitter, resulting in erroneous sampling or outputting of vital audio samples, thereby reducing the audio quality of the experience. The present invention reduces the jitter on the TMDS clock, and hence the audio DAC clock, resulting in lower audio distortion.

Specifically, N amplifier-filter circuits are configured to receive and separate a multichannel analog RF input signal into N analog signals, each including a different frequency band. N analog-to-digital converters are provided, each respectively coupled to one of the N amplifier-filter circuits and configured to receive an analog signal and generate a respective digital signal. A digital tuner is coupled to receive and demultiplex the N digital signals generated by the N analog-to-digital converters thereby recovering M digital RF channels. M demodulation circuits are provided for performing demodulation and forward-error-correction of the M digital RF channels (see FIG. 1). This combination of components permits substantially simultaneous reception of multiple digital cable channels within a single digital receiver circuit suitable for use with conventional cable delivery systems and at a reasonable cost.

The method is suitable for applications where an up-conversion factor is required in the frame rate, such as an up-conversion factor of five to up-convert from the 24 Hz frame rate used for film-based content to the 120 Hz frame rate used by displays. The output sequence can use all of the original frames to reduce detail flicker.
