  • Patent number: 11394978
Abstract: A video fidelity measure is determined for a video sequence (1) by determining distorted and original difference pictures (30, 40) as pixel-wise differences between pixels (14, 24) in a distorted picture (10) and corresponding pixels (24) in an original picture (20) and between pixels in a preceding distorted picture (11) and corresponding pixels in a preceding original picture (21). First and second maps representing distortions in pixel values between the distorted and original pictures (10, 20) and between distorted and original difference pictures (30, 40) are determined. Third and sixth maps are determined as respective aggregations of local variabilities in pixels values in the distorted and original pictures (10, 20) and local variabilities in pixels values in the distorted and original difference pictures (30, 40), respectively. The video fidelity measure is then determined based on the first to third and sixth maps.

When a user is listening to a radio program in the car, and arrives at the destination, the user's mobile device may capture an audio sample of the radio station, along with a GPS location of the user, and may transmit this information to a radio station application server. The server may use the location to identify a list of candidate radio stations, and may compare the audio sample with reference recordings of the candidate radio stations, to identify the radio station and program. The program may then be recorded for the user and subsequently played back at the user's convenience and on a device selected by the user, such as a mobile device, television, computer, DVR, or the like.

  • Patent number: 10116902
Abstract: Content streams may be segmented to provide automatic extraction and storage of content items without intervening commercials or other unrelated content. These content items may then be stored in a database and made accessible to subscribers through, for example, an on-demand service. Automatic segmentation may include the identification of program boundaries, segmentation of a content stream based on the boundaries and the subsequent classification of the segments into content types. For example, audio and video duplication detection may be used to identify commercials since commercials tend to repeat frequently over a relatively short amount of time. A system may further identify an end of program indicator in a video stream to determine when a program ends. Accordingly, if a program ends after a scheduled end time, a recording device (e.g., the program is being recorded) may automatically extend the recording time to capture the entire program.
