  • Patent number: 11617017
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for relocating an overlay overlapping information in content. The systems and methods may comprise receiving a content item, the content item comprising a video image, and determining a first screen position of an information box (e.g., a score box) in the video image. Determining may be performed with image analysis and/or a machine learning model. The system receives an overlay image (e.g., a channel logo) with a second screen position and determines if the second screen position (e.g., for the logo) overlaps the first screen position (e.g., for the score). In response to determining the second screen position (e.g., of the logo) overlaps the first screen position (e.g., the score), the system modifies the second screen position (e.g., for the logo). Then the system generates for display the overlay image on the video in the modified screen position. The system may not relocate the overlay if the overlay is a high priority.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a multimedia device for processing a video signal and control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the multimedia device includes a controller configured to perform tone mapping, a dynamic contrast function, and a local contrast function. The controller performs the tone mapping not only on an HDR video signal but also on an SDR video signal. When performing the tone mapping on the SDR video signal, the controller amplifies only an intermediate-gradient region without adjusting low-gradient and high-gradient regions. When performing the dynamic contrast function, the controller only an intermediate-gradient region of the video signal without adjusting low-gradient and high-gradient regions. When performing the local contrast function, the controller divides the video signal into blocks, calculates an APL value of each block, and then applies a linear curve based on the APL value.

In another approach, picture part of interest separation is based on spatial resolution differences between the background and the picture part of interest frames. Parameter matching can also be performed for the picture part of interest and the basic picture into which the picture part of interest is embedded. Further, a separated picture part of interest can be embedded into a basic picture containing text.

The map can be a hybrid between an orthographic projection map and street-side images, thus including useful aspects from both types of representations. For example, an orthographic projection map is very effective at presenting global relationships among the features of the map but not effective at presenting local detail. In contrast, street -side images show excellent detail but do not convey the global information of an orthographic projection map. The hybrid map can thus provide a richer set of information than conventional maps and can also display objects/features of the hybrid map in multiple perspectives simultaneously on a single representation that is printable.

Upon detection of an alteration of the resolution, the format detector selects one of a plurality of supplemental video pictures, which are prepared in advance in a memory, in accordance with the degree of decrease of the resolution after the alteration to that before the alteration. An image composition unit controls a display unit to display the supplemental video picture together with a video associated with the video content via a video display unit.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter relates to a computer-implemented architecture that can generate a map. The map can be a hybrid between an orthographic projection map and street-side images, thus including useful aspects from both types of representations. For example, an orthographic projection map is very effective at presenting global relationships among the features of the map, but not effective at presenting local detail. In contrast, street-side images show excellent detail, but do not convey the global information of an orthographic projection map. The hybrid map can thus provide a richer set of information than conventional maps, and can also display objects/features of the hybrid map in multiple perspectives simultaneously on a single representation that is printable.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a receiver, a display device, and a transmission module. The receiver includes a video receiver, a video processor, a graphics processor, and a multiprocessor. The video processor converts the video signal received by the video receiver to a moving image with a first resolution. The graphics processor outputs a still image with a second resolution higher than the first resolution according to an instruction. The multiprocessor divides the still image into divisional still images with the first resolution. The display device includes a display module, a scaling processor, a restoration processor, and a blend processor. The scaling processor scales the moving image with the first resolution. The restoration processor restores the divisional still images to the original still image. The blend processor displays the moving image and the still image with the second resolution on the display module.

An audio/video signal includes a video data and the closed captioning information. The closed captioning information includes a time index, a closed captioning text, and positioning information. The positioning information indicates a position within a frame of the video data, and is associated with the closed captioning text for a given time index. The position corresponds to the speaker who is speaking the associated closed captioning text. A decoder device decodes the closed captioning information to determine the position of the speaker within the video data, and the time index to correlate the closed captioning text and positioning information to a specific frame of video data. The video data is preferably scaled to provide a less than full screen video.
