Patent number: 10430052Abstract: The disclosure is related to a method and a system for processing composited images. The method is operated in a computer. A software-enabled user interface is provided for a user to create a composited image using a touch screen. In the beginning, in response to the user's manipulation, at least two images are retrieved from a database. A background image and a foreground image are selected from the images. The user interface allows the user using a gesture over the background image displayed on the touch screen for generating a series of touch signals covering a specific area. The touch signals render a mask image. The mask is applied to the foreground image. The mask image of the background image covers the foreground image so as to create a new foreground image. The composited image is created when the new foreground image is composited with the background image.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2016Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Assignee: FRAMY INC.Inventors: Yu-Hsien Li, Wen-Shiang Lin, Chen-Chou Lin

Patent number: 9036088Abstract: Perceived strength of signals conveying images or sound to the brain can be increased based on persistence of vision or persistence of hearing. For example, when the eye or ear perceives a signal it takes a finite time to process it and send it to the brain. During that time the eye or ear does not recognize input and is, in effect, “turned off”. These periods of “unused” input are utilized to increase the intensity of the signal that the brain perceives. An exemplary system includes a switch, configured to route a signal alternatively to two paths—one of which includes a delay circuit that delays that signal by an amount equal to the persistence of vision or persistence of hearing interval. The exemplary system also includes a combiner that combines output from the two paths, so as to provide the brain with a signal that it will perceive as being twice as intense as the original.Type: GrantFiled: July 9, 2013Date of Patent: May 19, 2015Inventor: Archibald Doty

Patent number: 8947599Abstract: A system that adjusts chroma and luma values for a video signal is presented. During operation, the system receives a matrix of coefficients, which when applied to the chroma values and the luma values of a video signal produces substantially the same result as performing a sequence of discrete operations on the chroma values and the luma values, wherein the sequence of discrete operations includes one or more color-representation-conversion operations and one or more processing amplifier operations. For a given pixel of the video signal, the system performs a matrix-multiplication operation between a matrix representation of the chroma values and the luma values for the given pixel and the matrix of coefficients to produce a modified pixel.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2007Date of Patent: February 3, 2015Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Samuel A. Patent number: 8553151Abstract: A video switcher (10) advantageously affords the capability of executing a video effect following recall that avoids visible artifacts upon transitioning from one effect to another. At the outset, the switcher identifies active elements within the video effect, the comprising those elements that undergo a change during execution of the video effect, as opposed to those that remain inert during effect execution. The switcher then dynamically calculates offset for application to an initial key frame value for the video effect to avoid any change in value to active elements upon initial effect recall. The offset value is applied to each subsequent interpolation of the video effect, thereby creating the desired result of applying only relative changes to the active elements of the video effect.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2005Date of Patent: October 8, 2013Assignee: GVBB Holdings S.A.R.L.Inventor: Ralph Andrew Silberstein

Publication number: 20130093957Abstract: A new framework for video compressed sensing models the evolution of the image frames of a video sequence as a linear dynamical system (LDS). This reduces the video recovery problem to first estimating the model parameters of the LDS from compressive measurements, from which the image frames are then reconstructed. We exploit the low-dimensional dynamic parameters (state sequence) and high-dimensional static parameters (observation matrix) of the LDS to devise a novel compressive measurement strategy that measures only the dynamic part of the scene at each instant and accumulates measurements over time to estimate the static parameters. This enables us to lower the compressive measurement rate considerably yet obtain video recovery at a high frame rate that is in fact inversely proportional to the length of the video sequence. This property makes our framework well-suited for high-speed video capture and other applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2011Publication date: April 18, 2013Inventors: Richard G. Patent number: 8274608Abstract: In an image processing apparatus, an image processor includes: a matrix switcher, wherein intersecting input and output lines are connected by crosspoint switches; a signal processing block connected to output lines on the upstream side, and input lines on the downstream side by reentry paths; and an output block connected to output lines on the upstream side. An external reentry settings unit sets a first and second port of the matrix switcher as external reentry output ports, the first port being a matrix switcher output port, and the second port being a matrix switcher input port. A reentry stage information generator generates reentry stage information, which indicates the stage of the internal signal processing path where a special function unit is logically positioned, and wherein the special function unit corresponds to the external reentry output ports of the signal processing block and the output block.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2010Date of Patent: September 25, 2012Assignee: Sony CorporationInventor: Shozo Into

Patent number: 8269897Abstract: High-Definition Multimedia Interface Specification, Version 1.2, supports multiple video formats. Currently the HDMI sources and sinks support multiple formats through reconfiguration of the system. The present invention describes the use of a configurable ‘n’בn’ data pixel mapping matrix for video format conversion. This mapping matrix allows the mapping of any existing video format to any other existing or future video format and allows flexibility of connectivity to any transmitter or receiver. Accordingly a more user friendly implementation that provides greater flexibility for development and use of new formats in video applications is shown.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2007Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: Analogix Semiconductor, Inc.Inventors: Jianbin Hao, Ning Zhu

Patent number: 8233038Abstract: An image-signal processing unit comprising a first and second luminance calculation block, a correction-value calculation block, and a subtraction block, is provided. The first luminance calculation block calculates a first luminance corresponding to the sum of a plurality of primary color light components. Each of them is multiplied by a coefficient from a first coefficient combination. The second luminance calculation block calculates a second luminance corresponding to the sum of a plurality of the primary color light components. Each of them is multiplied by a coefficient from a second coefficient combination. The correction-value calculation block calculates a luminance correction value according to the second luminance if the first luminance is greater than a threshold value. The subtraction block calculates a corrected luminance by subtracting the luminance correction value from the first luminance.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2008Date of Patent: July 31, 2012Assignee: Hoya CorporationInventors: Kohei Iketani, Go Matsui

Patent number: 8179478Abstract: A system for adjusting color image quality includes converting color video signal sources into component video signals including a luminance signal and chrominance signals. A signal axis rotation circuit performs coordination transformation on the chrominance signals in accordance with a hue calibration parameter; and a multiplier multiplies the coordinate-transformed chrominance signals with a chroma calibration parameter to obtain output chrominance signals. The output chrominance signals and the luminance signal together form a component chrominance signal, which is applied to and output by a chrominance signal inverse conversion unit.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2008Date of Patent: May 15, 2012Assignee: Vastview Technology, Inc.Inventors: Cheng-Chung Peng, Yuhren Shen
