Abstract: The transmission apparatus and transmission power controlling method are able to keep high speed feedback control and control transmission power accurately. Polar modulation transmitter (100) is provided with LPF (108) that performs waveform shaping of output power of PA (103) and ADC (109) that obtains output power data for each mode by sampling filtered signals in compressed mode and filtered signals in uncompressed mode at the same phase as the filtered signals in compressed mode. In this way, the phases of sampling signals before and after the mode change are the same, so that it is possible to obtain sampling signals of the same condition before and after the mode change, from filtered signal waveforms. According to feedback control based on these sampling signals, even if drift components remain in the filtered signals, the influence can be ignored, so that it is possible to keep high speed feedback control, and estimate and control transmission power accurately.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for broadcasting a local signal B that corresponds to a coverage hole in a remote signal B. The system includes a first transmitter at a first location and a second transmitter at the first location that transmits local signal B corresponding to remote signal B transmitted from a remote transmitter. The second transmitter broadcasts the local signal B to at least part of a coverage hole in a coverage area of remote signal B. Also disclosed is a method for consolidating allocated wireless spectrum. The method includes identifying a guard band in an allocated band of wireless spectrum, reassigning an existing channel occupying a portion of the allocated band of wireless spectrum to the guard band via selective single frequency network infill to yield a reassigned channel, and freeing the portion of the allocated band of wireless spectrum.

Abstract: A digital television receiving system includes a first known data detector, a second known data detector, and a selector. The first known data detector detects a location of a first known data sequence in a broadcast signal by calculating a first correlation value between the broadcast signal and a first reference known data sequence. Similarly, the second known data detector detects a location of a second known data sequence in the broadcast signal by calculating a second correlation value between the broadcast signal and a second reference known data sequence. The selector selects the location information detected by one of the first and second known data detectors with a greater correlation value.

Abstract: A digital broadcast transmitter and a method of processing a DTV signal in the digital broadcast transmitter are disclosed. The digital broadcast transmitter includes a pre-processor, a first multiplexer, a post-processor, and a second multiplexer. The pre-processor includes a first interleaver, a group formatter, and a packer formatter. The first interleaver interleaves symbols corresponding to mobile service data. The group formatter maps data corresponding to the interleaved symbols into at least one region of a data group and adds place holders for main service data and non-systematic RS parity data to the data group. The packet formatter removes the place holders for the main service data and the non-systematic RS parity data, and generates mobile service data packets having data in the data group in which the place holders for the main service data and the non-systematic RS parity data are removed.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a communication system, a transmitter, a receiver, a communication method, a program, and a communication cable for providing high-speed bidirectional communication while maintaining compatibility. When an HDMI (R) source 71 performs bidirectional IP communication with an HDMI (R) sink 72 using a CEC line 84 and a signal line 141, a switching control unit 121 controls a switch 133 so that, when data is transmitted, the switch 133 selects a constituent signal forming a differential signal output from a converting unit 131 and, when data is transmitted, the switch 133 selects a constituent signal forming a differential signal output from a receiver 82. When bidirectional communication is performed using only the CEC line 84, the switching control unit 121 controls the switch 133 so that the CEC signal output from the HDMI (R) source 71 or the receiver 82 is selected. The present invention is applicable to, for example, HDMI (R).

  • Patent number: 7924347
Abstract: Methods, and apparatus for carrying out the methods, are disclosed for synchronizing a plurality of RF transmitters that are supplied with a common digital information signal for carrier modulation and subsequent transmission on a common channel throughout a prescribed region, whereby the digital signal receivers within the region may receive transmissions on the channel from more than one transmitter. The method involves inserting reference signals into the data sent to the transmitters in order to place them into known states at specific times relative to the digital signals sent to them for transmission. As a result of this method, the digital signals transmitted by each of the transmitters will be identical to one another so that the receivers will be able to identify one received signal as the main signal and the others as echoes.

Abstract: A method of transmitting a digital video stream having a plurality of image frames and being characterized by a vertical resolution and a frame rate. A temporal multiplexing operation is applied to the image frames of the video stream in order to generate a compressed video stream having the same vertical resolution and half the frame rate of the video stream. This compressed video stream is then transmitted in lieu of the original video stream. At the receiving end, temporal de-multiplexing and pixel interpolation operations are applied to the frames of the compressed video stream in order to reconstruct the original video stream.
