Abstract: A computing entity identifies media streams based at least in part on user profile information corresponding to a user and monitors corresponding stream information. An audio/video device is providing a first media stream for user consumption. Based at least in part on the user profile information, the computing entity determines an interest score for each media stream and, responsive to determining, based at least in part on an analysis of the interest score corresponding to a second media stream and the interest score corresponding to the first media stream, that the interest score corresponding to the second media stream satisfies a configurable criteria, analyzes one or more attributes of the first media stream to determine if the first media stream is eligible for a switch trigger. Responsive to determining that the first media stream is eligible for a switch trigger, the computing entity identifies a stream switch trigger.

Abstract: Systems and methods for recommending a media asset relating to a character unknown to a user are provided herein. The systems and methods may receive a first media asset viewed by a user, determine a first character in the first media asset, and include the first character in the character viewing profile for the user. Further, the systems and methods may receive a second media asset, including the first character, determine that a second character appears in the second media asset, and determine that the second character is not in the character viewing profile. The systems and methods may recommend a third media asset to the user for the second character.

Abstract: A multimedia file and methods of generating, distributing and using the multimedia file are described. Multimedia files in accordance with embodiments of the present invention can contain multiple video tracks, multiple audio tracks, multiple subtitle tracks, a complete index that can be used to locate each data chunk in each of these tracks and an abridged index that can enable the location of a subset of the data chunks in each track, data that can be used to generate a menu interface to access the contents of the file and ‘meta data’ concerning the contents of the file. Multimedia files in accordance with several embodiments of the present invention also include references to video tracks, audio tracks, subtitle tracks and ‘meta data’ external to the file.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining, at a first location, media content capturing an event occurring at a capture location. The media content is analyzed proximal to the first location to obtain an analysis result, a context of the event is determined, and a rule is applied according to the context to obtain a rule application. The media content is modified according to the rule application to obtain a modified media content adapted for distribution to a media consumer at a second location, while preventing distribution of the media content for consumption by the media consumer. The method comprises: using image recognition technology to perform target character recognition on an entire video, positioning a plurality of video clips containing target characters, and obtaining a first playing time period set corresponding to the video clips; according to audio clips corresponding to each character marked within the entire video, obtaining a second playing time period set corresponding to the audio clips of the various characters; merging the time periods included in the playing time period sets, and obtaining a sum playing time period set of the target characters; according to a sorting of various playing timelines within the sum playing time period set, performing video playing of the target characters.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses to deliver at least a portion of an advertisement to a viewer at normal playback speeds after receiving a command from the viewer to fast-forward through an advertisement faster than normal playback speeds are described. In one example, a portion of the advertisement may be delivered to be played at normal playback speeds, and the remaining portion may be delivered to be played at a playback speed that is faster than the specified playback speed so that the combination of the portions delivered at normal and faster playback speeds is delivered to the user at the specified playback speed. In another example, at least a portion of the first advertisement may be delivered at normal playback speeds, and one or more other advertisements may be delivered to the viewer simultaneously with the first advertisement with the audio information muted based on the specified playback speed.

The system can include configuration settings enabling, for example, detection of various events, prompting the user to pause live video, and/or automatically pausing the live video. The system enables the user to play a time-shifted video corresponding to resuming the paused video playback. The system can include a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) local to the user, to facilitate the time-shifted video.

The method includes the steps of receiving graphics data at a plurality of rendering nodes, rendering at least a portion of the graphics data by one or more rendering nodes to produce multi-sample image data, encoding the multi-sample image data using a difference encoding technique, and transmitting the encoded multi-sample image data to a compositing node. The multi-sample image data comprises a plurality of values per pixel of a target image corresponding to a plurality of sample locations defined for each pixel of the target image.

In one implementation, this feature provides users a frequently-accessed service or asset list when browsing on a second display. The frequently-accessed list of services or assets may be populated by the user through the second display or may be populated by the server that is tracking service access by the user. Abstract: Estimation techniques for vision-aided inertial navigation are described. In one example, a vision-aided inertial navigation system (VINS) comprises an image source to produce image data for a keyframe and one or more non-keyframes along a trajectory, the one or more non-keyframes preceding the keyframe along the trajectory. The VINS comprises an inertial measurement unit (IMU) to produce IMU data indicative of a motion of the VINS along the trajectory for the keyframe and the one or more non-keyframes, and a processing unit comprising an estimator that processes the IMU data and the image data to compute state estimates of the VINS. The estimator computes the state estimates of the VINS for the keyframe by constraining the state estimates based on the IMU data and the image data for the one or more non-keyframes of the VINS without computing state estimates of the VINS for the one or more non-keyframes.

Abstract: Selection and display of adaptive rate video streams in a video security system in which user devices such as mobile computing devices mix and display multiple streams concurrently from security cameras on the user devices. A client application running on the user devices determines available buffer resources on the user devices, and enables selection of one or more video streams from a grid displayed on a display of the user devices. In response to the determined resources, the client application obtains higher bit rate video streams for the selected video streams and lower bit rate video streams for the non-selected video streams. The client application then displays the higher bit rate streams in visually distinct focus panes that attract the attention of an operator and displays the lower bit rate streams in less visually distinct periphery panes. In a preferred embodiment, operators can select a stream from the periphery panes to display as higher bit rate stream in a focus pane.
