Abstract: Reducing camera throughput to downstream systems using an intermediary device, including: receiving, by a device and from a camera via a first data link between the device and the camera, a frame; selecting, by the device, an area of focus for the frame; generating, by the device from the frame, a downsampled frame and a cropped frame, wherein the cropped frame is based on the area of focus; and providing, by the device to a computing system of an autonomous vehicle via a second data link between the device and the computing system, the downsampled frame and the cropped frame instead of the frame, wherein the second data link has a lower bandwidth than the first data link.

Abstract: A server system receives, from a first client device, a video stream relating to a videoconferencing session and receives, from the first client device, visual effects information relating to one or more visual effects to be applied to the video stream. The server system applies, based on the received visual effects information, the one or more visual effects to the video stream to generate one or more modified video streams, and transmits the one or more modified video streams to one or more other client devices participating in the videoconferencing session.

Abstract: A method of multi-platform social media advertising and revenue sharing via digital overlays on real-time video feeds enables a host streamer profile to select and display one or more advertisement elements on a real-time video feed, which is broadcast on a host social media platform in addition to being broadcast to one or more third-party platforms. The advertisements may be chosen through various means and customized by advertisers according to desired parameters. Each advertisement is associated with a financial compensation amount. After an advertisement or advertisements are displayed on the real-time video feed, the financial compensation amount is distributed among the host streamer profile, the host platform, and each of the at least one social media platform, thus incentivizing each to participate in the social media advertising and revenue sharing system.

Abstract: A system for enhancing audio including a plurality of sensors, an output device, and a processor in communication with the plurality of sensors and the output device. The processor is configured to process data captured by the plurality of sensors, and based on that, modify an output of the output device. The processor also is configured to determine whether there are a plurality of users associated with a video conferencing session, determine which user of the plurality of users is speaking, and enhance the audio or video output of the speaking user on the output device.

Abstract: Dynamic calibration of cameras in a stereoscopic configuration may include: determining a disparity between first image data from a first camera and second image data from a second camera, wherein the first camera and the second camera are in a stereoscopic configuration, and wherein the disparity comprises a difference in placement of one or more objects in the first image data relative to the second image data; and adjusting one or more of the first camera or the second camera, based on the disparity and sensor data from a sensor other than the first camera and the second camera, to calibrate the stereoscopic configuration of the first camera and the second camera to achieve stereoscopic camera distance functionality.

Abstract: A videoconference among a plurality of participants may be hosted, wherein the plurality of participants comprise Internet Protocol (IP)-connected participants and a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)-connected participant. The IP-connected participants may send and receive audio content and video content of the videoconference via IP-based connections. The PSTN-connected participant may send and receive the audio content of the videoconference via a PSTN connection. Additional content from the videoconference may also be transmitted to the PSTN-connected participant, for example as text messages via the PSTN connection. The additional content may include, for example, images of a videoconference screen share, chat posts, polls, and the like. Images may be transmitted in the additional content based on video status change events, such as switching slides or pages in a screen share.

Abstract: This disclosure describes, in part, techniques for using presence detection in order to switch between power modes of a display device. For instance, the display device may operate in a first power mode by deactivating a display. While operating in the first power mode, the display device may use a sensor to detect a presence of a possible object. The display device may then switch to a second power mode in order to verify that the possible object is an actual object. In response, the display device may switch to a third power mode by at least activating the display and presenting a user interface using the display. The display device may then receive an interaction. In response, the display device may switch to a fourth power mode by at least presenting content.

Abstract: Techniques for virtualizing content are disclosed. Elements comprising source content are virtualized by mapping each to and representing each with a corresponding database object. A specification of the corresponding database objects is provided for rendering the source content instead of any original pixel information of the source content so that a virtualized version of the source content is rendered.

Abstract: A camera is auto-focused on an in-person attendee in a hybrid meeting who is speaking into a microphone at a live location of the hybrid meeting, wherein the hybrid meeting is being streamed via a videoconferencing system to one or more remote attendees. The live location includes a real-time location system (RTLS) having a RTLS tag and a plurality of RTLS anchors for locating a position of the RTLS tag in three-dimensional space. The RTLS tag is fixed to the microphone. In operation, it detected when the microphone is active. The position of the RTLS tag in the live location is then identified, wherein the position of the RTLS tag in the live location is presumed to be the same position as the microphone that the RTLS tag is fixed to.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a format agnostic document viewer with document translation that provide the ability for a user to either select a portion of the viewed document text in the format agnostic viewer and have it translated into a selected language, or for the user to have the entire document presented in the format agnostic viewer in translated form. The translated text may be shown side-by-side with the original document text in the format agnostic viewer, or can replace the original text on the visible page in the format agnostic viewer. The translated text may be formatted according to, or displayed with, some enhancements to account for differences in the original text and translated text or other differences.

Abstract: Techniques presented herein provide an improved relay user experience and improved management of scarce computing and network resources as the number of relay endpoints increases. A sourcing endpoint device may generate a media feed, such as video and/or audio feed, representing contribution from a conference participant. The sourcing endpoint device may generate a priority value for the media feed, and the priority value may be transmitted to other members of the relay along with the input feed. Priority values of the different relay participants may be used by other devices, for example, intermediate servers or receiving endpoint devices, to manage aspects of the relay. For example, a relay server may prune streams from select endpoint devices based on relative priority values received from those devices. Alternatively, receiving endpoint devices may alter presentation of received feeds based on their associated priority values.

Abstract: Techniques for virtualizing content are disclosed. One or more objects comprising source video content are determined. The one or more objects comprising the source video content are virtualized by mapping each to and representing each with a corresponding database object. Data comprising the corresponding database objects is provided for rendering the source video content instead of any original pixel information of the source video content so that a virtualized version of the source video content is rendered.

Abstract: A system and method for reducing audio feedback, and in particular ‘howling’, during a communication session involving two or more computing devices. The system determines that a first device is likely to join a meeting in which another, second device is already joined. In response, the system can cause the second device to broadcast a signal that, if detected by the first device, will indicate that the two devices are in auditory range of one another. As a result, the system can preemptively mute the audio components of the first device to prevent an audio stream of the first device from interfering with the audio already streaming via the second device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for delivering fractions of content to user devices before the content is selected or requested (e.g., a pre-delivery of content) are described. In some embodiments, the systems and methods receive an indication that content is available for pre-delivery from a content server to a user device over a network, determine a fraction (e.g., size) of the content available for pre-delivery that satisfies one or more predicted content playback conditions, and causes the determined fraction of the content available for pre-delivery to be delivered to the user device.

Abstract: A system and method are described for managing the state of an online video game. Abstract: A gunshot detection/security system for detecting dangerous events in a school or other building includes one or several pods placed throughout the building premises. Each pod includes a camera, a thermal camera, and an acoustic sensor for detecting video, images, heat signatures, and sound within a detection area for the respective pod. The sensor data is then analyzed to identify a dangerous event in the building, and provide alerts regarding the dangerous event via the pods or client computing devices of students/occupants in the building, administrators, parents, and emergency responders. A server computing device generates digital maps of the interior and exterior of the building having location information regarding the occupants of the building and a danger zone indicating the epicenter for the dangerous event.

Abstract: A system and method for managing phone calls enables the call initiator to create a personalized audio or video invitation that the call recipient may review prior to accepting the call, which is immediately connected upon acceptance. Prior to initiating the call, the call initiator's communication device records a personalized audio or video invitation from the call initiator. A peer-to-peer connection is established between the call initiator's communication device and the call recipient's communication device. The call initiator may upload the personalized audio or video invitation to a server for the call recipient to download or stream from the server, or the call recipient may download or stream the personalized audio or video invitation from the call initiator's device via the peer-to-peer connection. Upon receipt of a notification from the call recipient that the call is accepted, a live voice connection between the call initiator and call recipient is established.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and techniques for providing content via a bandwidth-conserved connection to a client device is described herein. Content can be encoded at reduced rate in response to being presented with a bandwidth-conserved connection. When the encoded content is received at a network provider, the network provider can determine a transmission pattern to transmit the encoded content to the client device. The transmission pattern can include transmission periods where the encoded content is transmitted at a maximum transmission rate, followed by periods where no encoded content is transmitted. Thus, although an instantaneous transmission rate approaches a maximum transmission rate of a network, the average transmission bandwidth provided to the client device can be limited, thereby reducing congestion in the network. Further, a radio element of the client device can enter a low power state when no encoded content is to be transmitted, thereby reducing power consumption at the client device.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods that enable sophisticated and inconspicuous interactions with content displayed on a head-mounted display are described. A head-mounted display includes an eye-tracker and the user also carries/wears a wireless portable interface device elsewhere on their body, such as a ring. The wireless nature of the portable interface device enables a small and unobtrusive form factor. The portable interface device includes an actuator that, when activated by the user, causes the portable interface device to wirelessly transmit a signal (e.g., a radio frequency signal or a sonic signal). A selection operation performed by the user is defined as the user activating the actuator of the portable interface device while the user is substantially concurrently gazing at a displayed object (as detected by the eye-tracker). In response to the selection operation, the head-mounted display displays a visual effect to the user.

A peer-to-peer connection is established between the call initiator's communication device and the call recipient's communication device, and the call initiator's communication device provides a call request message including the personalized audio or video invitation from the call initiator to the call recipient's communication device via the peer-to-peer connection. Upon receipt of a notification from the call recipient that the call is accepted pursuant to review of the personalized audio or video invitation by the call recipient, a live voice connection between the call initiator and call recipient is established.

The server system determines that an aggregate bandwidth for a first frame time exceeds a specified budget for the modulator. In response to determining that the aggregate bandwidth for the first frame time exceeds the specified budget, the server system transmits an allocated portion of the data for the group of user sessions through the modulator onto a channel corresponding to the modulator during the first frame time in accordance with the class priorities.

Abstract: A system and method for managing phone calls by enabling the call initiator to create a personalized audio or video invitation that the call recipient may review prior to accepting the call, which is immediately connected upon acceptance. Thus, prior to completion of the call, the call recipient may be comforted that the incoming call is one that should be taken or, conversely, one that may be safely avoided. The personalized audio or video invitation is created by the call initiator and is attached to the phone call data packet in place of the conventional Caller Id data packet. The multiple patterns are statistically significant for multiple characteristics pertaining to utilization of multiple historic databases. The capacity usage is memory usage or central processing unit (CPU) usage. A weighted value of capacity usage is computed for each pattern as an average value of historical capacity usage for each pattern weighted by a function of a fraction of the multiple databases used for each pattern. A total value of capacity usage is computed as a sum of the weighted values of capacity usage. The computed total value of capacity usage is stored. A current database is sized, utilizing the computed total value of capacity usage. The database sizing may be based on query complexity in dependence on rates of occurrence of queries to the historic databases and to the current database.
