  • Patent number: 11228781
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for processing of video content to optimize codec bandwidth. In one embodiment, the method includes capturing panoramic imaging content (e.g., a 360° panorama), mapping the panoramic imaging content into an equi-angular cubemap (EAC) format, and splitting the EAC format into segments for transmission to maximize codec bandwidth. In one exemplary embodiment, the EAC segments are transmitted at a different frame rate than the subsequent display rate of the panoramic imaging content. For example, the mapping and frame rate may be chosen to enable the rendering of 8K, 360-degree content at 24 fps, using commodity encoder hardware and software that nominally supports 4K content at 60 fps.

Abstract: Techniques for projecting images onto fabricated surfaces. One or more electronic files containing an engineering diagram that describes a three-dimensional shape of the fabricated surface are retrieved. Warp transformation information for transforming images to be projected onto the fabricated surface is calculated, based on the engineering diagram, positional information defining a three-dimensional position of a projection device, relative to the fabricated surface, and positional information of an intended viewer relative to the fabricated surface. The warp transformation information is applied to one or more images to generate one or more transformed images. Embodiments project, using the projection device, the one or more transformed images onto the fabricated surface.

  • Patent number: 10247547
Abstract: An optical pattern projector used for projecting a structured-light pattern onto an object for dimensioning is presented. The optical pattern projector utilizes a laser array, a lenslet array, a lens, and a diffractive optical element to create a repeated pattern of projected dots. The pattern repetition is based on the grid pattern of laser array. Each laser's collimated beam, when projected through the lens, impinges on the diffractive optical element from a slightly different direction. The diffractive optical element creates a sub-patterns that continue propagating along these different directions and combine on a target to produce a repeating optical pattern.
