The print processing machine may have a gross capacity (BP), a net capacity (NP), and/or a number (N) of devices in communication with the print processing machine. The net capacity (NP) may be computed as a function of the gross capacity (BP), the number (N) of devices, a stop rate (SR), a time interval for each stop (TN) and an error rate (FR) according to NP=[1?(BP·SR·N·TN)]·BP?(BP·FR·N). Limit values for errors contained in the stop rate (SR) and/or the error rate (FR) may be received. The acquiring unit acquires first document data containing page image data corresponding to pages of a document. Each page of the document has a first end and a second end opposite to the first end. The output unit outputs second document data in which an order or a direction of the page image data is changed, when the first document data contains first page image data indicating that an image is drawn in a first area corresponding to the first end of at least one of the pages of the document and second page image data indicating that an image is drawn in a second area corresponding to the second end of at least one of the pages of the document and when page numbers of the first and second page image data have a predetermined relationship.

  • Patent number: 8269989
Abstract: A printing data generating unit designates a first section (page numbers, etc.) corresponding to a change target part of a before-being-changed document and a second section corresponding to printing data of a changed part. A printing unit includes a replacement processing portion. The replacement processing portion determines whether or not the section of the counted number of sheets of paper matches the first section, and when they match, instructs the printing unit to print the printing data of the changed part corresponding to the second section, and when they do not match, causes the before-being-changed document to be discharged directly from the printing unit, and thereby replacing just the first section of the before-being-changed document with a document of the changed part corresponding to the second section.

  • Patent number: 8269996
Abstract: An image forming apparatus switches a line of image data, to be read out from a storage unit, to another, depending on a position in the line in a scanning direction such that the curving of a scanning line is offset, and reducing trouble in reading out image data in units of rectangular image data blocks A data processing section performs image processing based on a plurality of rectangular image areas generated by dividing image data stored in a memory section. An image reading unit reads out the image data as the rectangular image areas, and transfers the rectangular image areas to the data processing section. A printer section forms an image by scanning a photosensitive member with irradiation light based on the rectangular image data areas. A DMA controller stores positional information indicative of line-switching positions. The rectangular image data areas are read out according to the positional information.

  • Patent number: 8259350
Abstract: A print defect management device that supports job-specific print defect management automatically assesses print job pages to determine the severity of image quality defects likely to occur on one or more selected printers. Views of identified troubled pages may be rendered to include approximations of color and image quality defects based on the original page image data, and each printer's color rendition data and defect data, thereby allowing troubled pages for one or more selected printers to be viewed prior to printing. Suggested changes may be automatically or manually applied. Once satisfied with the image quality of print job pages rendered for a specific printer, a user may submit the print job to the same printer, thereby assuring that the user's image quality expectations are met in the printed product. The device may support job-specific print defect management with both local and/or remote printers via LAN, WAN and/or Internet based connectivity.

The method includes obtaining a print job input stream including the plurality of print jobs. Each of the plurality of print jobs is scheduled for processing unless at least one of the plurality of print jobs is determined to be a disturbance job, the disturbance job causing delays in processing of other print jobs in the plurality of print jobs that would not occur but for the existence of the disturbance job in the print job input stream. The disturbance job is then assigned a processing related value that decreases over time, and scheduling of the disturbance job is delayed until the processing related value is less than a selected threshold value.
