Detail Of Medium Positioning (e.g., Movement To Or From Presentation Location Of Medium, Etc.) Patents (Class 358/1.12)
  • Patent number: 8184335
Abstract: An overall processing time to rasterize, at the first device, the electronic document to be rendered is computed. Also, a rendering time to render, at the first device, the electronic document to be rendered is computed. When the overall processing time to rasterize at the first device is greater than the rendering time to render at the first device, the electronic document to be rendered is parsed into a first document and sub-documents. A productivity capacity of each node is determined, the productivity capacity being a measured of the processing power of the node and the communication cost of exchanging information between the first device and the node. A sub-document is rasterized at a node when a productivity capacity of the node reduces the processing time to rasterize the electronic document to be rendered to be less than the computed overall processing time.

Abstract: This disclosure describes methods for using embedded auxiliary signals in documents for copy detection and other applications. In on application, the auxiliary signal is formed as an array of elements selected from a set of print structures with properties that change differently in response to copy operations. These changes in properties of the print structures that carry the embedded auxiliary signal are automatically detectable. For example, the changes make the embedded auxiliary signal more or less detectable. The extent to which the auxiliary data is detected forms a detection metric used in combination with one or more other metrics to differentiate copies from originals. Examples of sets of properties of the print structures that change differently in response to copy operations include sets of colors (including different types of inks), sets of screens or dot structures that have varying dot gain, sets of structures with different aliasing effects, etc.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for generating a printout of a section of a global position-coding pattern in a system comprising a computer unit and a printer unit connected to the computer unit. The method is characterized by the steps of generating in the computer unit boundary information that describes the boundaries of the section in the global position-coding pattern; transmitting the boundary information from the computer unit to the printer unit; generating graphical information in the printer unit by means of an algorithm that defines the global position-coding pattern and on the basis of the boundary information, which graphical information describes pattern symbols in the section; and printing out the graphical information on a base by the printer unit.

  • Patent number: 8102546
Abstract: An apparatus determines a type of a printing paper which is fed from a paper feed port of a printer. If it is determined that a print setting of a print target page does not match the type of printing paper fed from the paper feed port, the apparatus requests the printer to eject the printing paper set in the paper feed port and sends data of a print target page if a print setting of a print target page matches a type of a printing paper fed from the paper feed port after the printer has executed a paper ejection, or alternatively, the apparatus stores information about the print target page and determines whether a print setting of a page to be sent subsequent to the print target page in the print data matches the type of a printing paper fed from the paper feed port.

Abstract: An upper frame member is pivotally attached to an apparatus body so as to pivot between a closed position and an open position. The apparatus body is closed when the upper frame member is in the closed position, and the apparatus body is opened to expose an image forming unit when the upper frame member is in the open position. A locking member locks the upper frame member to the apparatus body when the upper frame member is in the closed position. An operation member positioned on a sheet stacking surface releases the locking member to unlock the upper frame member from the apparatus body.

Abstract: A value for determining a type of a recording medium is compared with a detection result, and the type of the recording medium is confirmed when there is no detection result within a predetermined range. Thus, by controlling the number of recording media to be detected for confirming the type of the recording medium according to the determination result of the recording media, a drop in productivity during determination of the types of the recording media is reduced.
