  • Patent number: 9207895
Abstract: A image forming apparatus capable of performing reservation printing, even when incapable of storing print data in a memory unit due to an insufficient free space, by securing a memory area which is not used by other users. Print data is input from a PC to an MFP so as to be reserved in a memory area of an auxiliary memory of the MFP, and is printed out by the MFP in response to an instruction from a user who has logged in the MFP. The auxiliary memory has a reservation printing area and a reservation printing emergency area for storing print data. If print data of the logged-in user cannot be stored in the reservation printing area due to an insufficient free space, the print data is stored in the reservation printing emergency area in response to an instruction from the logged-in user.

  • Patent number: 9207609
Abstract: A method of printing is provided comprising: assigning a first set of image performance parameters from a plurality of image performance parameters to an associated image job; communicating the initially assigned first set of image performance parameters of the associated image job to an image marking engine; determining a queue of other image jobs assigned to the image marking engine, wherein the other image jobs are queued before the associated image job; and, assigning a second set of image performance parameters to the associated image job. The second set of image performance parameters can alter the first set of image performance parameters. The altering of the first set of image performance parameters to the second set of image performance parameters reduces a print duration to complete printing of the associated image job. The altering can further include reordering the queue of print jobs.

  • Patent number: 9019547
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and user interface wherein a multifunction copier, equipped with a Universal Serial Bus port, accepts data directly from a USB-Data Storage Device (USB-DSD) for the purpose of printing, e-mailing, and faxing. The system contains a copier containing a computer-controller having at least one USB port interface. The controller has a service that can either be enabled or disabled by a system administrator. The service is capable of performing email, printing and facsimile functions. When a user inserts a USB-DSD into the USB port on the controller, the service presents the user with the three options stated above. Once the user selects the desired function, the service then invokes a document conversion utility, which scans the USB-DSD and displays the supported files found on the DSD. Each desired function will have multiple options for a user to choose.
