Abstract: When a facsimile device detects an audio signal via a CNG signal detection unit while detecting an OFF signal in a CNG signal during a telephone conversation, the facsimile device does not detect the audio signal as an OFF signal if the level of the detected audio signal is greater than a threshold and the frequency of the audio signal is within a predetermined audio frequency range. Accordingly, the facsimile device can reliably prevent a false detection of a noise that has a similar signal component to a CNG signal as a CNG signal. It is possible to prevent the facsimile machine from being automatically shifted to a facsimile receiving mode by the false detection of the noise.

Abstract: In a system where a transmitting apparatus is connected via a network to a receiving apparatus, the receiving apparatus has a storage device for storing destination information which can be registered to a key in an operating device to be operated for transmission in a transmitting apparatus. When data is received from the transmitting apparatus, the destination information including an icon or information on a site wherein the destination information is stored is returned to the transmitting apparatus. Thus, registration of destination information to the key becomes easy at the transmitting apparatus.

Abstract: A method for processing non-standard facilities frames by T.38 gateways, wherein the T.38 gateways includes at least one transmitting gateway and at least one receiving gateway, the transmitting gateway is connected with a transmitting facsimile machine, and the receiving gateway is connected with a receiving facsimile machine. The method includes: a) the transmitting gateway and the receiving gateway determining the types of all received V.21 frames; b) when the receiving gateway or the transmitting gateway receives a non-standard frame NSF, modifying the non-standard frame NSF, so that the corresponding receiving facsimile machine or transmitting facsimile machine is unable to receive a correct NSF frame; c) the receiving gateway encapsulating the modified NSF frame data, or the transmitting gateway modulating the modified NSF frame data and transmitting the modulated frame data. The method modifies the rate negotiation performed with proprietary frames as a negotiation performed with standard frames.

Abstract: When a facsimile device detects an audio signal via a CNG signal detection unit while detecting an OFF signal in a CNG signal during a telephone conversation, the facsimile device does not detect the audio signal as an OFF signal if the level of the detected audio signal is greater than a threshold and the frequency of the audio signal is within a predetermined audio frequency range. Accordingly, the facsimile device can reliably prevent a false detection of a noise that has a similar signal component to a CNG signal as a CNG signal. It is possible to prevent the facsimile machine from being automatically shifted to a facsimile receiving made by the false detection of the noise.

Abstract: In data transmission apparatus, a transmission device transmits data to a destination when a user instructs data transmission. A storage device stores user information to relate destinations to users. The apparatus can communicate with a server having destination information. When the user logs in, automatic retrieval is requested to the server to retrieve a destination related to the user in the user information in the storage device. A result of retrieval executed by the server is received and stored in the storage device.

The receiving party is provided with a reception mail server, a reception client which can be the final destination of electronic mail information, and a reception agent, which is a client for receiving via a dial-up line. The transmission agent transmits electronic mail whose final destination is a designated reception client to the reception agent via the dial-up line as a facsimile image, and the reception agent transfers a received electronic mail to the reception mail server.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to route fax calls in an Internet protocol (IP) multimedia subsystem (IMS) network are disclosed. An example method comprises receiving a message including a called party number and a media description at an IMS network and determining if the media description is associated with a fax protocol. Abstract: The present invention makes it possible to transmit an image, which has been captured as by a digital camera, in the form of a file by facsimile communication. To this end, if an X bit of a FIF (Facsimile Information Field) from a receiving machine is ON, the facsimile apparatus judges that the receiving machine has functions for JPEG-receiving in sYCC color space and for receiving an image that has been captured by a digital camera and stored on a memory card. If transmission of image files on a memory card has been specified, those image files are transmitted successively when the X bit of the FIF from the receiving machine is ON. Even if there is a main-scan pixel-number change or a color-monochrome change, a PPS-MPS signal is transmitted and the individual image files are transmitted.

Abstract: In transmitting/receiving an E-mail with a file attached to it, the contents of the attached file is to be displayed in a reception terminal irrespective of the file format of a file attached to the E-mail, the image size or the maximum number of colors in displaying the file contents. To this end, the accommodating capability in a reception terminal is verified based on a mail address in sending an E-mail with an attached file to a reception terminal. If the accommodating capability in the reception terminal is not matched to the attached file, the file is converted in keeping with the accommodating capability of the reception terminal, and the E-mail is sent with the so-converted file attached to it.

The request data requesting the server to perform a 2-in-1 copy operation. When a printing processing portion of a first managing server or a second managing server receives a print command from a user's mobile phone, the URL indicating the storage location of the image data as well as the printing conditions are sent to a printing server, the printing server and the user are connected, and the printing related processes are performed by the printing server. Abstract: A one-side or both-side transmission mode is properly automatically selected in accordance with an original, thereby enabling desired image communication of the user to be properly executed. A CPU discriminates whether effective image data is included on both sides of an original image read by a reading circuit or not. If at least one sheet of original in which the effective image data is included on both sides exists, a both-side transmission of the image data read from both sides of the original is executed, and in the other cases a one-side transmission of the image data read from the front side of the original is executed. When a compulsory front side reading mode is selected by the operation of an operation unit, even if at least one sheet of original in which the effective image data is included on both sides exists, only the front side of the original is read and the read image data is transmitted in the one-side mode.
