Patent number: 7733848Abstract: In order to enable V.34 fax relay communications over IP (“FoIP”) without increasing a gateway complexity, the gateway relays all types of fax control signals in demodulated form and transfers fax image type signals either as demodulated or as PCM encoded signal, based on a predetermined condition. The PCM data type is added to FoIP protocol to allow transferring PCM encoded fax image signals without exiting from FoIP mode of operation until the completion of a fax call. During a FoIP call, the communicating gateway determines whether the input fax signal is a ‘fax control signal’ or a ‘fax image’ type signal. If the gateway determines that the input signal is a fax control signal or supported fax image signal, it handles it in a traditional fax relay manner. However, if the gateway determines that the input fax image type signal cannot be demodulated, it outputs the fax signal to the IP network as PCM encoded signal and without performing demodulation.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2005Date of Patent: June 8, 2010Assignee: AudioCodes Ltd.Inventor: Vladimir Ulybin

The control unit uses the analyzed scanning parameter values to conduct a scanning parameter setting operation on the scan images having recorded scanning parameter values as well as the ordered scan images after the scan images with recorded scan parameter values but without recorded scan parameter values.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2006Date of Patent: March 30, 2010Inventor: Shih-Zheng Kuo

Patent number: 7684067Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing an electronic document in a secure manner is provided. A first facsimile machine may verify that the configuration state of a second facsimile machine has not changed since a prior configuration state by issuing a request to a security server. The security server may process the request to determine whether the configuration state of the second facsimile machine has changed since the second facsimile machine was registered with the security server. The security server may also verify that the first facsimile machine issued a facsimile request to the second facsimile machine or that the second facsimile machine received the request. A storage medium of a facsimile machine may be protected against unauthorized removal of the storage medium by storing a password required to access the storage medium, and when the facsimile machine is powered on, the password is provided to the storage medium.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2006Date of Patent: March 23, 2010Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventor: Brian Smithson

Patent number: 7679763Abstract: Systems and methods for managing capabilities in a network are described. The method describes receiving a first capabilities data structure having a first dataset from a primary service, and then receiving a second capabilities data structure having a second dataset from one or more secondary services. The method next describes combining at least the first dataset and the second dataset into a combined capabilities data structure and providing services within the network based on the combined capabilities data structure. Another method describes requesting first and second job tickets from first and second services, where the tickets include first and second nodes respectively. The method next describes identifying the first and second job ticket nodes, and determining whether the nodes are capable of being aggregated. Finally, the method describes aggregating the nodes that are capable of being aggregated, and producing a consumable result job ticket that includes the aggregated nodes.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2004Date of Patent: March 16, 2010Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Daniel Slightam, Bob Taylor, Kevin Cole

Patent number: 7672003Abstract: A network scanner, communication protocols, and client and server programs and are provided which provide an improved way to transmit legally binding documents, obviating the need for outmoded, legacy fax transmissions. Using the network scanner, a document may be scanned and transferred directly into any shared folder inbox residing on any computer attached to the Internet. Enhanced server systems and network communications and messaging protocols are provided that are more practical to use than email for sending documents such as executed legal documents or other documents requiring robust integrity and authenticatability. Similarly, the inventive network scanner, server systems and communication protocols provide improved ways to perform large file transfers and to manage bandwidth to minimize problems associated with uploading/downloading large files as attachments to/from email servers and for enabling user control over VoIP quality during file transmission sessions.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2004Date of Patent: March 2, 2010Inventors: Eric Morgan Dowling, Robert A. Publication number: 20100039675Abstract: Systems and methods of the present invention allow for incorporation of relevant messages, such as commercial advertisements, in outgoing faxes and/or for presentation of relevant messages with outgoing faxes. Text may be extracted from a current and/or previously sent or received facsimile and relevant messages may be added in the facsimile. A sample embodiment of the system comprises an Obtaining Means, an Extracting Means, an Analyzing Means, a Storing Means, a Selecting Means, an Incorporating Means, a Converting Means, and a Transmitting Means. An alternative sample embodiment comprises an Obtaining Means, an Extracting Means, an Incorporating Means, and a Transmitting Means. The systems may be maintained by a Fax Server Provider. A sample embodiment of the method comprises the steps of obtaining a facsimile from a Sender, extracting text from the facsimile, incorporating one or more relevant messages in the facsimile, and transmitting the facsimile to a Recipient.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2009Publication date: February 18, 2010Applicant: THE GO DADDY GROUP, INC.Inventors: Michael Jonathan Noel, Lucas Mooney

Publication number: 20100002268Abstract: An information processing apparatus facsimile-transmits specified pages among images constituted by multiple pages, and transmits remaining pages by Internet FAX. The information processing apparatus transmits the specified pages to a FAX number specified by a user, by facsimile transmission. Next, the information processing apparatus transmits the remaining pages to a specified mail address by Internet FAX. Thus, the images are transmitted by the two kinds of FAX transmission to realize both of reduction in communication cost and prevention of leakage of confidential information.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2008Publication date: January 7, 2010Applicant: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Takashi Sawano
