Then the binary image data 104 and 105 are merged to form binary data 106 corresponding to the original image data of one line. Upon merging the binary image data, binary data b2 obtained from the divided image data 102 located upstream of the line before divided in the direction in which the error diffusion processing progresses is used as binary data corresponding to the overlapped region.
