Abstract: Systems and methods identify consumer products in images. Known consumer products are captured as grayscale or color images. They are converted to binary at varying thresholds. Connected components in the binary images identify image features according to pixels of a predetermined size, shape, solidity, aspect ratio, and the like. The image features are stored and searched for amongst image features similarly extracted from unknown images of consumer products. Identifying correspondence between the features of the images lends itself to identifying or not known consumer products.

Abstract: This patent relates to thin plate spline (TPS)-based interpolation techniques for representing free-flowing vector graphics (VG) images based on user-specified features, such as points and curves. One or more features can be identified in a pixel grid. A higher-order least squares interpolating function with a TPS smoothness objective can then be utilized to interpolate individual color values to individual pixels of the pixel grid. Smoothness terms of the function that impose smoothness penalties can be interrupted in certain regions of the pixel grid based on attributes of the user-specified features. For example, a curve attribute can specify a particular color value(s), add or remove a smoothness penalty, or anisotropically impose a first derivative constraint in a particular direction.

Abstract: Disclosed is a processor-implemented method for limiting ink output of marked image data using a target printer. A processor determines a constrained output (CMYK) LUT node data set for outputting the image data using the target printer to thereby mark the image data using a limited amount of ink. The constrained set is determined by re-encoding an encoded emulation output data, i.e., constraining an initial LUT node data set for the target printer based on a second. ICC profile with a smaller gamut. This allows the printer to inherit the smaller gamut. By constraining the initial LUT as disclosed herein, the final, constrained set emulates the smaller gamut in the target printer without suffering from pathological outcomes. The method enables the printer to inherit a natural ink limit methodology for the output colors that is more relatively proportional, and in a single destination profile.

  • Patent number: 8736631
Abstract: The display color of, for example, a button image responsive to a command input into a facility operation display device is controlled by a palette value having a smaller number of bits than an RGB value. When the display color of the button image is changed, the palette value of a drawing object associated with the button image is changed to an RGB value. This eliminates the necessity of incorporating, for example, a high-performance CPU as a central arithmetic unit. In addition, it is not necessary to pre-store images corresponding to several kinds of display colors specified by RGB values, to thereby eliminates the necessity of incorporating, for example, a high-capacity storage medium in the facility operation display device. Accordingly, the device cost can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8736899
Abstract: A color conversion method for wide-gamut color spaces, in which color conversion is performed without gamut clipping so that data corresponding to a predetermined wide-gamut color space can be directly output by a display device that supports a different wide-gamut color space from the predetermined wide-gamut color space, and which maintains characteristics of the predetermined wide-gamut color space. The color conversion method includes converting data of a predetermined wide-gamut color space into data of the RGB color space, determining whether the RGB data is outside the gamut of the RGB color space, extending the RGB data and clipping the extended RGB data if the RGB data is outside the gamut of the RGB color space, and dividing the clipped RGB data into a number of regions and performing a mapping operation in units of regions.

Abstract: Disclosed is an image processing apparatus and a method of controlling the same. A color contact image sensor (CIS) module employing a single channel line sensor can be used to produce substantially the same performance as a color CIS module employing a three-channel line sensor and having color filters to, for example, reduce manufacturing costs. Moreover, a blurring phenomenon that can occur in a scanned image can be reduced and the quality of the scanned image can be improved.

Abstract: Image data used for printing a designated color adjusting color chart having color patches with a printing machine are generated, color values and positions of the color patches being associated with each other. A patch selection image simulating the positions of the color patches on the color chart is displayed. Coordinates corresponding to the position of a color that has been selected as a color that is closest to the designated color from the color patches of the color chart, are indicated on the displayed patch selection image. Color values of the color that is closest to the designated color are calculated based on the color values and positions that are associated with each other and the indicated coordinates.
