Abstract: A system and methods for the automated display of a borderless sun glare block area and sunshield in a windshield, which can be made of electrochromatic glass, in a motor vehicle driven at any time and at any location on earth is presented. The first method, which accurately calculates the precise position of the sun glare block area, is based on the apparent solar position, the direction of travel relative to the true North, the slope of the road, the windshield tilt angle, and the dynamic position of the driver's eyes. It uses sets of different formulas depending on the position of the sun glare on the windshield and the slope of the road. The second method calculates the changing opacities of the borderless sun glare block area, whose opacity decreases from its center to its edge and matches that of the sunshield, based on the ambient light intensity.

Abstract: A display capable of suppressing curing failure of a resin layer on a backside of a light shielding layer and a method of manufacturing the display are provided. Light L is applied from a side surface 30B side of a transparent substrate 30 and is allowed to enter the transparent substrate 30 from the side surface 30B or in the vicinity thereof to be guided through the transparent substrate 30. An intermediate layer 40 that has a refractive index lower than a refractive index of the transparent substrate 30 in a wavelength range of the light L is provided on a front surface 30A of the transparent substrate 30 to totally reflect the light L. On a back surface 30C of the transparent substrate 30, a refractive index of the resin 21 before and after curing is higher than the refractive index of the transparent substrate 30 in the wavelength range of he light L, and thus the light L enters the resin 21 to cure the resin 21, and the resin layer 20 is accordingly formed.
