  • Publication number: 20100142219
Abstract: A structure for eliminating bright lines of a tiled backlight module is provided. The structure includes a light guide plate, and a plurality of light sources. The light guide plate includes a plurality of rows of optical elements. The rows of optical elements extend in parallel. The light sources are provided at least one side of the light guide plate for projecting a light into the light guide plate and generating a regular but non-uniform light outputting performance of the light guide plate. Therefore, a brightness of areas where the optical elements are located is higher than the rest areas, so that the light guide plate achieves a regular but non-uniform light emitting performance. Accordingly, the bright lines occurred at joints between two light guide plates are enshrouded by the high brightness areas, and become hard to identify or even undistinguishable, thus “eliminated”.

Abstract: A plasma display device is provided. The plasma display device includes a plasma display panel (PDP) which includes an upper substrate on which a plurality of black matrices are formed; and an external light shielding sheet which is disposed at a front of the PDP and includes a base unit and a plurality of pattern units that are formed on the base unit and that have a lower refractive index than the base unit. A distance between a pair of adjacent black matrices is 4-12 times greater than a distance between a pair of adjacent pattern units. Therefore, it is possible for a plasma display device to effectively realize black images and enhance bright room contrast with the aid of an external light shielding sheet which is disposed at a front of a PDP and which absorbs and shields as much external light incident upon the PDP as possible.

Abstract: A parallax barrier is manufactured by forming a light-blocking layer by patterning a metal layer or a resin layer on a barrier glass in a photolithography step. On a mask used in the photolithography step, some pitches between slits are different, the slits corresponding to portions whereupon the light-blocking layers are to be formed. In addition, on the mask, first pitches (for instance, 100) and second pitches (for instance 99.5), which can be actually formed with accuracy, are formed in a cycle, and the average of such pitches can be accord with a theoretical pitch distance (for instance, 99.99). Thus, in the parallax barrier to be used for a multiple display device, visibility of the entire screen can be improved, and the parallax barrier which can be manufactured by using the mask lithography technology having a limited accuracy, and a method for manufacturing such parallax barrier are provided.

Abstract: A method of making optical devices includes applying an energy sensitive protective material and an energy sensitive advanced optical material to a surface. The surface can be on the optical device or on a carrier, such as a thin sheet, to be applied to the optical device. Light energy is applied through a special production filter to cure the energy sensitive protective material on the surface while blocking light energy outside a selected wavelength spectrum from reaching the material. A portion of the optical device can then be masked, and light energy outside the spectrum filtered by the special production filter can be applied to activate the unmasked portion of the advanced optical material. The special production filter allows curing of the protective material using light energy in a limited (e.g., visible) spectrum so that the advanced optical material can be activated using light energy in the ultraviolet spectrum.

Abstract: Conventional design tools were not developed for designing square zero-shift supercells. Conventionally, solutions that enable square zero-shift supercells were found by trial and error or by exhaustive analysis. According to a first design criterion of this invention, a non-square supercell in a first frame of reference has a diagonal that is equal in length to the diagonal of a square supercell in a second frame of reference rotated at a desired screen angle to the first frame of reference. The screen angle is a function of the lengths of the sides of the non-square supercell in the first frame of reference. According to a second design criterion, if the area of the corresponding square supercell in the second frame of reference is an integer, a square zero-shift supercell can be designed based on the lengths of the sides of the non-square supercell in the first frame of reference.

Abstract: A fluorescent display device of the front emission type capable of permitting light-permeable anode conductors to be uniformly formed without any deformation and preventing color filters from being affected by etching carried out for forming the anode conductors. A light-permeable anode substrate is provided thereon with strip-like filters, which are then formed thereon with a uniform and flat protective film of light-permeable, insulating and etching-resistant properties. Then, anode conductors are arranged on the protective film. Thus, the anode conductors can be uniformly formed on the flat protective film irrespective of unevenness on a surface of the filters. Also, the protective film prevents the anode conductors from being exposed to etching liquid used for formation of the anode conductors.

Abstract: A method for producing a reproduction in reduced or enlarged size of a halftone original with improved tone rendition by the use of a continuous tone correction mask in conjunction with the halftone original applied in projection exposure. It is a particular characteristic of the present invention that said improved tone rendition is obtained by using in said projection exposure a mask image, the maximum density (i.e. density at 3% dot value areas of the halftone original used in the projection exposure) is linearly directly proportional to the screen ruling of the halftone original used in the projection exposure (see FIG. 2 and 3).

Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for rotationally controlling a circular structure, such as a dome, from the outer circumference of the dome. The system uses an air driven motor having a circular fixed section and a movable section. The movable section is attached to the rim of the dome and is supported by pressurized air over the fixed section. Air, or other fluid, is used to drive the movable section, and hence the dome, around the circle. The dome speed is controlled by air pressure and the position of the dome is monitored.

Abstract: A scanning optical system for preventing ghosting is provided wherein a laser beam emitted by a laser light source is first brought to an image in an auxiliary scanning plane, and reflected by a slit mirror provided in a prism block. The laser beam is incident on the scanning deflector along the optical axis of the scanning lens, and a screen is provided for obstructing ghosting in the vicinity of the scanning surface. Further, at least one side of the prism block on which the light is incident from which the light emerges is curved, or one side of the prism block is treated to prevent reflection. Further, the screen is disposed between the laser light source and the slit mirror so as to obstruct the part of the light beam incident on the mirror which is reflected by the mirror after being reflected by the scanning deflector.

  • Patent number: 5039203
Abstract: An optical window member comprises a substrate having a multiplicity of through-holes, and a diamond film formed on one surface of the substrate and covering the through-holes. A method for producing the optical window member comprises forming a thin film of diamond on one surface of the substrate, imparting a pattern to a photoresist layer formed on the substrate for partially exposing the substrate, and removing the exposed part of the substrate by etching thereby partically forming a diamond monolayer region. The thus obtained substrate possessing a multiplicity of through-holes assumes a lattice-like form, gives shape to the diamond monolayer region and, at the same time, prevents the thin diamond film from being warped or curved, and imparts improved compression strength to the diamond film and protects the diamond film against fracture.
