Sandals Patents (Class 36/11.5)
  • Patent number: 8739434
Abstract: Wellness footwear that promotes proper gait and strong feet is provided. The footwear can include a sole. The footwear can also include a securing upper arranged with the sole and configured to securely hold a foot of a user on a footbed so as to substantially prevent lateral movement of the foot with respect to the footbed and allow one or more of a big toe and remaining toes of the user to be at least partially uncovered and exposed. A toe aligner structure can be arranged between the securing upper and the sole and configured to extend between the big toe and remaining toes of the user so as to direct a force against the big toe in a direction away from the remaining toes during standing, walking, running, swimming, and other movements when muscles of the foot are in use.

  • Publication number: 20140101969
Abstract: An orthopedic sandal comprises a sole and six mounted straps. Made of rubber that generates high friction, the straps pass through the edge of the sole to create 12 one to three centimeter-long extensions underneath the sole. The 12 extensions generate extra friction when the sandal contacts with the ground. The sole consists of an outer layer and an inner layer. Made of rubber mixed with nylon fibers, the outer layer has an empty inside divided sidewardly into 4 compartments. Each compartment is divided horizontally into two by a thin rubber layer. Made of soft rubber, the inner layer is a pouch divided into three compartments filled with special soft gel that has physical stability under the change of temperature and pressure. The inner layer is pre-shaped to ergonomically fit the wearer's sole and is also able to reshape to well fit the wearer's particular sole.

  • Patent number: 8677651
Abstract: This invention is a type of adhesive footwear for humans. The adhesive bond between the footwear and foot eliminates the need for shoestrings, Velcro, zippers, or any other type of fastening device. Unlike other types of footwear, the adhesive bond enables the footwear to remain in place and causes less discomfort when the foot becomes wet, sandy, or muddy. The footwear is precut into a shape that makes it capable of fitting several different sizes and types of feet. It is applied to the feet by stepping directly onto the adhesive side of the slip resistant material. Only the material needed will remain attached to the foot, making the footwear as light as possible.

  • Patent number: 8640363
Abstract: Footwear including an integrated orthotics system provides support with progressive resistance in pronation and supenation motions of the foot during a gait cycle. The orthotics system includes an orthotic device between the mid-sole and the outsole and extend from the rear foot's calcaneus region to the forefoot region where the phalanges and metatarsal joints meets. The orthotic device includes contours mimicking a foot sole shape in an unloaded state. The orthotic system may also include a secondary external orthotic device embedded underneath the outsole to provide control in the mid foot region to achieve progressive compression resistance in the mid foot arch zones. The secondary device may be customizable to achieve a wide range of resistance level needed in mid foot compression by the wearer. The orthotics combined with the midsole and outsole provide progressive mid foot compression resistance and directional flex associated with pronatory motions of the foot.

  • Patent number: 8371044
Abstract: The present invention relates to a molded shoe featuring a 3 dimensional figure (e.g., an animal or character). The shoe has a sole having a bottom surface that comprises a series of projections and recesses that form a print for an animal or character, to thereby obtain an imprinting surface; and an upper, attached to the sole, having an outer surface that comprises a series of projections and recesses that form a three dimensional figure (e.g., an animal figure or a character figure). The sole and upper are substantially formed from molded plastic; the projections and recesses of the animal imprinting surface allow one wearing the shoe to make imprints on a soft surface, and the three dimensional figure on the outer surface of the upper relates to the print of the imprinting surface. The methods of the present invention further include making imprints with the bottom surface of the shoe.

  • Patent number: 8353116
Abstract: A sandal which includes two molded plates which releasably lock together. The underside of the male plate contains a male lock, and its front and rear underside contain the reciprocal fasteners to secure the straps. The superior aspect of the female plate contains the reciprocal “female” releasable locking mechanism for the male lock. After the straps are secured on the male plate it is inserted and releasably locked when the underside lock of the male plate enters the superior lock of the female plate embedded in a base style (heel, flat or wedge). When the male plate with straps is the top layer its underside is the lock and its superior side is the contact support for the foot. The male plate functions as a middle lock if an insole is inserted under the straps and its underside is removably secured to a superior aspect of a male plate with a choice of hook and loop fastener. The insole becomes the final layer which hides the shoes components and provides the contact support for the foot.

Abstract: A strap pad provides a modification to open type shoes known as flip-flops, sandals, or any footwear that incorporate a strap to hold a foot to the sole of a shoe. As the strap stretches and/or the sole compresses from use, the foot fits loosely between the strap and the sole of the shoe. The strap pad is fixed to the underside of the strap so the foot fits snuggly between the strap pad and the sole. The strap pad may fit completely under the strap so it is hidden from view. The strap pad may be fixed to the strap using adhesive, a snap fastener, or a hook-and-loop fastener.
