Abstract: A single-reel magnetic tape cartridge has a cartridge casing and a single reel around which a magnetic tape is wound and which is contained in the cartridge casing for rotation, in which the magnetic tape is fixed at the leading edge thereof to a leader pin employed for extracting the magnetic tape from the cartridge and the flanges at the upper and lower ends of the leader pin are engaged by the lateral drawing force of a latch spring removably held in the tape cartridge casing. Even for cases in which there is a deviation in the insertion position in which leader pin is inserted by the record and playback apparatus, etc. causing the entry path of the leader pin into the cartridge casing to be off track, etc., it is still possible for the leader pin to be inserted into the cartridge casing.

Abstract: The tape cartridge improved boss door provides a sleeve between the lower boss for the torsion spring to rotate around to decrease the stress applied to the top coil of the torsion spring. An improved catch contacts the top leg of the torsion spring at a point distant from the torsion spring coils to further reduce the force applied to the torsion spring and the frictional drag as the torsion spring rotates around the sleeve, thus decreasing the failure rate of the tape cartridge due to premature failure of the torsion spring.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a magnetic tape cartridge comprising a single reel with magnetic tape wound thereon, a cartridge case for rotatably housing the single reel, a leader pin having a tape clamp portion on which the magnetic tape is wound, and a clamp member with a C cross section that has an axial slit. The leader pin is affixed to a leading end of the magnetic tape by elastically fitting the clamp member onto the tape clamp portion of the leader pin. A sheet member for enhancing a coefficient of friction is interposed at least between the magnetic tape and the tape clamp portion.

Abstract: A recording tape cartridge has a case which is substantially rectangular, and which rotatably accommodates a single reel on which a recording tape is wound; an opening formed at a corner portion of the case at a side of loading the case into a drive device, the opening being for pulling-out of a leader member attached to an end portion of the recording tape; and a shielding member sliding so as to open and close the opening. A dustproofing wall, which overlaps with a distal end of the shielding member when the shielding member closes the opening, is formed at a peripheral edge of the opening.

Each of the teeth has a taper portion being inclined toward both sides from a tip part of the taper portion and a vertical portion extending in a substantially vertical manner from both end terminals of the taper portion to a base portion. At the time of the mating, the tip part is contacted with a bottom surface of the base portion at the side of the opposite teeth, and the vertical portion is opposed to the vertical portion at the side of the opposite teeth. At the time of mating, the vertical portions of the teeth are mutually contacted and the mating state is hard to become unfitted.

The beginning of the tape is fixed to a leader so that it can be drawn out through an opening formed in the housing by a tape drawing-out member of a recorder which has an end capable of engaging the tape end. The leader includes a metallic center pin member on which the beginning of the tape is wound and a pair of engaging members of synthetic resin joined to upper and lower ends of said pin member so as to engage the tape drawing-out member of the recorder. The operation member moves at one side of the position of a movement path of the covering member that is closest to the side wall in plan view, the one side being bounded by this position.

At the recording tape cartridge, the reel, around which a magnetic tape is wound and which is accommodated in a case, is set in a rotation locked state when a braking member, which cannot rotate due to the braking member engaging with a cross-shaped rib, engages with anchor projections. When the braking member moves apart from the anchor projections, a meshed state is cancelled, and the reel can rotate with respect to the case. A reinforcing ring, which is fit together with an inner peripheral surface of the reel hub, reinforces the reel hub whose top end is open.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a magnetic tape cartridge comprising a single reel with magnetic tape wound thereon, a cartridge case for rotatably housing the single reel, a leader pin having a tape clamp portion on which the magnetic tape is wound, and a clamp member with a C cross section that has an axial slit. The leader pin is affixed to a leading end of the magnetic tape by elastically fitting the clamp member onto the tape clamp portion of the leader pin. A sheet member for enhancing a coefficient of friction is interposed at least between the magnetic tape and the tape clamp portion.

Abstract: Possibility/impossibility of recording onto a recording medium accommodated in a cartridge is switched by moving a plug for preventing accidental deletion of information recorded on the recording medium along a bottom plate of a lower case. A projecting portion is formed at the plug. A flexible pin projects from an upper case so as to form a detent structure together with the projecting portion. At the time of joining together the upper and lower cases, even when the plug is positioned between a position which express possibility of recording and a position which express impossibility of recording, as the upper and lower cases are joined together, the pin relatively slides along an inclined surface formed at a top end of the projecting portion, and the plug moves to the position which makes recording possible. In this way, assemblability is good.

Abstract: The single reel tape cartridge with tape reel centering features provides one or more features to center the tape reel with respect to the interior surfaces of the tape cartridge housing and a rotatably driven feature, such as a drive chuck, in the tape drive that rotates the tape reel. The single reel tape cartridge with tape reel centering features provides mechanical positioning and centering of the tape reel with respect to the drive chuck of the tape drive when the tape cartridge is in any orientation and constrains lateral movement of the tape reel to prevent the tape reel from contacting the interior surfaces of the tape cartridge housing. This is accomplished by the use of a spring that applies a bias force to press the tape reel against the drive chuck in the tape drive, which rotates the tape reel. One end of the spring is seated in a spring sleeve that is formed in the center of the interior surface of the top section of the tape cartridge housing. Abstract: A recording tape cassette which accommodates a reel on which a recording tape is wound. A lock member for locking the reel is rotatably attached at an inner face of a case of the recording tape cassette. The lock member is urged to a reel side thereof, and engages with a gear which is formed at a peripheral edge of a flange of the reel. A guide surface is formed at the lock member such that, at a time when the reel is inserted into the case, the lock member is pushed by the reel and consequently is withdrawn in a direction of releasing locking of the gear. With this structure, an operation of insertion of the reel can be carried out easily, and work efficiency can be improved.

A pin is provided at each end of the leader member, and the pins are resiliently projectable by springs. The springs each absorb a load generated when the leader member is attached to or detached from a cartridge case. A receiving portion is provided independently from a connecting portion which connect to the leader member. In order to eliminate changes to a length of the connecting portion due to compression of the spring and to allow smooth connection of the leader member and the connection portion, the pin resiliently projects from the recess provided at an axial center of the receiving.

A first leader is coupled to the first reel. A second leader is coupled to a free end of the tape which is wound around the second reel. A button is coupled to a first end of the first leader. The button protrudes from a first surface of the first leader. The second leader includes an aperture for accepting the button.

Abstract: A recording tape cartridge enabling proper assembly of a brake member which blocks rotation of a reel during non-use. A magnetic tape is wound on a reel accommodated in a case. The brake member is non-rotatably supported in the case and moves toward/away from a base portion inside a reel hub. Rotation of the reel is disabled when a brake gear provided at a disc portion meshes with gear teeth, and rotation is enabled when this meshing is released. Tapering walls stand along a circular periphery larger in diameter than an outer diameter of the brake member and coaxial with the hub. When the brake member is being inserted into the hub, the brake member is guided, at the disc portion and at a rim portion extending out from the disc portion, by the tapering walls to a position at which the brake gear meshes with the gear teeth.
