Stationary Drive Patents (Class 360/99.11)
  • Patent number: 8958174
Abstract: A first capillary seal portion is positioned on a radially outer side of a bearing portion. A second capillary seal portion is positioned higher in an axial direction than the bearing portion and further on radially inner side than the first capillary seal portion. A seal cap covers a portion of an opening of the first capillary seal portion and a portion of an opening of the second capillary seal portion. The maximum width of a first gap between the outer circumferential surface of the shaft and an inner circumferential surface of the seal cap in a radial direction and the maximum width of a second gap between an upper surface of the sleeve portion and a lower surface of the seal cap in an axial direction is smaller than the maximum width of the opening of the first capillary seal portion.

  • Publication number: 20120120525
Abstract: There is provided a motor allowing for an increase in the rigidity of a hydrodynamic bearing by controlling a gap between a shaft and a sleeve as well as minimizing power consumption and a recording disk derive device including the motor. The motor includes a sleeve having a cylindrical shape and including a hole whose inner circumferential surface has at least one dynamic pressure groove therein; and a shaft rotatably inserted into the hole of the sleeve and having at least one rigidity reinforcing portion protruding in an outer diameter direction from an outer circumferential surface thereof corresponding to the dynamic pressure groove.

  • Patent number: 7791833
Abstract: The invention relates to a spindle motor having a deep-drawn baseplate and an aperture to receive and secure a bearing system to rotatably support a rotor. To avoid having to machine the bearing receiving portion of the baseplate in a complex process, the invention provides for a separate bush to be disposed in the aperture in the baseplate to receive and secure the bearing system. Compared to the baseplate, this bush can be worked in a simpler and more cost-saving process.

  • Patent number: 7391139
Abstract: A spindle motor which allows appropriate formation of communicating hole for compensating a pressure difference due to an error in working of dynamic pressure generating grooves and other components, easy formation of dynamic pressure generating grooves and readily prevention of leakage of a lubrication fluid is provided. An outer cylindrical member is attached to a shaft, a radial hydrodynamic bearing and a thrust hydrodynamic bearing are provided between the outer cylindrical member and the sleeve, and communicating holes are formed between the shaft and the outer cylindrical member, and between the hub and the outer cylindrical member. Since the collared outer cylindrical member is attached to the shaft, the communicating holes can be readily formed. Also, since a thrust hydrodynamic bearing is formed between an opening of a communicating hole and a seal, a lubrication fluid is unlikely to leak from the seal portion.

  • Patent number: 6954017
Abstract: A motor of this invention is provided with a sleeve-type bearing impregnated with oil for supporting a rotor assembly including a shaft and a rotor member. A lower face of the rotor is provided with at least two peripheral wall portions, an inner peripheral wall portion and an outer peripheral wall portion, which surround the shaft with a gap therebetween in a radial direction. The peripheral wall portions are accommodated in an annular recessed portion so as to surround an open space over a sleeve constituted the sleeve-type bearing and has a lower top of the most inner part. The lower end of the inner peripheral wall portion is located lower than the lower end of the outer peripheral wall portion, and the lower end of the outer peripheral wall portion is located lower than the lower top of the annular recessed portion.

  • Patent number: 6747831
Abstract: In a floppy disk drive having a main frame in which a floppy disk is inserted and a DD motor for rotatably driving the floppy disk inserted in the main frame, the floppy disk drive has a motor frame for mounting the DD motor thereon that is constituted by one piece integrated by the main frame. Preferably, the motor frame part may have a drawn-shape obtained by drawing the main frame. In addition, the floppy disk drive has an electronic processing arrangement for a frequency generation pattern. The electronic processing arrangement gives play to a function equivalent to the frequency generation pattern required to control the DD motor.
