  • Patent number: 6788017
Abstract: A period adjustment circuit of disconnection and restart IC comprises a second capacitor, which is connected to a resistor and a transistor connected in parallel. One end of the resistor is connected between the disconnection and restart IC and the first capacitor. When lockup of a fan motor occurs, in addition that an IC current source charges the first capacitor, the second capacitor also charges the first capacitor via the resistor until the voltage of the first capacitor reaches a disconnection voltage. The IC then enters into the disconnection state, and the voltages of the two capacitors are equal so that the second capacitor no longer charges the first capacitor. Next, the IC current source simultaneously charges the first and second capacitors until the voltage of the first capacitor reaches a system reset voltage. The first capacitor is then discharged to a restart voltage by the IC.

  • Patent number: 4543493
Abstract: Apparatus for switching alternating current from a power source to a load for substantially all of one selected half-cycle, but not before at least one full cycle after the apparatus receives an operator command to switch the current, includes a mechanical switch for commanding the apparatus at an arbitrary time to switch the current. Electrical control devices produce a control output during a portion of the selected half-cycle. A second switch device, such as an SCR, responsive to the control output switches the current to the load during the selected half-cycle. The control output is turned off before the end of the half-cycle and is not produced again until the mechanical switch is released and provides another command to switch the current.

  • Patent number: 4490659
Abstract: A pair of interval timer units including a lower right timer (LRT) and a lower left timer (LLT) for controlling a pair of D.C. motors (RM, LM) to drive a pair of load devices accurately and consistently a predetermined lowering distance. The load devices are raised together until stopped by limit switches (LS1, LS2) but can be lowered individually under the interval timer (IT) control. Each timer unit (LRT) includes a voltage regulator (ZD1, ZR1) to provide a constant voltage to a ramp voltage generator (RG) and a reference voltage to a voltage inverter (VI). The ramp voltage is applied through a buffer (IC1B) to one input of a comparator (IC1C). The variable supply voltage is also applied to the voltage inverter (VI) that provides a time reference voltage that varies inversely with respect to variation in the supply voltage.

  • Patent number: 4409640
Abstract: This disclosure depicts a novel abort cycle timer circuit for use with an AC source of electrical power and for operating electrical controls for machinery. The circuit provides a substantially DC voltage and current, first and second relays with normally open and normally closed contacts and a timing abort circuit. Opening a first of two switches causes the second of the two relays to energize after a time delay. Opening both switches causes the second relay to deenergize after a predetermined time. The novel circuit has improved immunity to electrical and magnetic noise.

  • Patent number: 4335418
Abstract: A circuit for controlling the intermittent application of a dc potential to a device, such as a striker mechanism for a gong, having a member reciprocally moveable between rest and active positions. The reciprocating member shunts and unshunts a capacitor when the member is in its rest position and moved away therefrom, respectively. While the capacitor is shorted, and during its charge time, dc power is applied to the device. When the capacitor is charged to a predetermined potential, dc power is disconnected from the device thereby allowing the reciprocating member to return to its rest position to shunt the capacitor and initiate a new cycle of operation. The system is substantially independent of mechanical characteristics of the device and the current interrupted or made by the contact pair may be at least an order of magnitude less than the peak current in said device.

  • Patent number: 4245166
Abstract: A field effect transistor is used to short circuit the timing capacitor of a thyristor when power is interrupted or removed. The short circuiting of the timing capacitor prevents the residual capacitor charge from being added to a new charge after an interruption so that the early firing of the thyristor is avoided and component damage is prevented. Because capacitor charging always starts at zero voltage when the field effect transistor is used, hysteresis at low voltages is greatly improved.

  • Patent number: 4035668
Abstract: The invention discloses an electronic input-interruption timer for use with an electrical appliance such as a washing machine, a fan, a refrigerator and so on. The timer comprises an integrator consisting of an input resistor and a capacitor, a switching element, a MOS field-effect transistor, a discharge resistor, and a switching circuit operable in response to the magnitude of the drain current of the field-effect transistor; the field-transistor, the switching element, the capacitor and the discharge resistor being embedded or potted in a molded plastic insulation. Since the capacitor and the discharge resistor are completely air- and water-tightly sealed, the highly reliable and dependable operation may be ensured even when used with a water-handling appliance such as a washing machine.

  • Patent number: 4021706
Abstract: A solid state switching circuit for applying rectified alternating current to one or the other of two solenoid valve actuators and modulating that current from a pull-in value to a lower holding value has a separate power circuit for each solenoid and a common timing and trigger circuit. Each power circuit contains a pair of diodes and a pair of silicon controlled rectifiers connected in a bridge circuit to supply its solenoid. The common timing and triggering circuit is connected to be energized whenever either power circuit is energized and contains a first DIAC control circuit for supplying triggering pulses early in each AC cycle and a second DIAC circuit for supplying pulses late in each AC cycle. The DIACs feed a coupling transformer which is coupled to the silicon controlled rectifiers of both power circuits. A time delay circuit biases a transistor to the on state after a predetermined time interval to disable the first DIAC control circuit.

  • Patent number: 4017746
Abstract: A timing circuit is shown as employing a flip-flop for driving an output circuit portion as to have such output circuit portion in effect provide either a low or no output or a high output with such in turn being employed for turning on or turning off a related power circuit; a first high gain amplifier is employed as a means for placing the flip-flop into one of its states whenever an appropriate trigger signal is momentarily applied thereto, while a second high gain comparator amplifier is effective to provide a reset signal to the flip-flop whenever a particular span of time has elapsed from the application of the trigger signal; the timing for creating the reset signal is achieved as through an R-C network which provides, in effect, a threshold signal to the second amplifier upon the application of which the second amplifier produces the reset signal and applies it to the flip-flop thereby placing the output circuit portion in a condition wherein it has either a low or no output.

  • Patent number: 4011927
Abstract: A solid state electronic dual timer which, in one preferred embodiment, is utilized for dispensing a measured quantity of lubricant at predetermined time intervals. A continuously operating pump is selectively connected to the devices requiring lubricant by a control valve means. A capacitor is charged through a first circuit path from one predetermined level until it reaches a second predetermined level during which time the control valve means for dispensing the lubricant is energized.
