Publication number: 20130063871Abstract: A circuit protection system has a normal mode, and a maintenance mode with reduced potential arc flash energy. A downstream circuit breaker is mounted within a first enclosure comprising a first access panel. A locking mechanism locks the first access panel closed. An upstream breaker is mounted within a second enclosure comprising a second access panel. A current sensor senses current and is in communication with an electronic trip unit that controls current interruptions by the upstream breaker based on a trip setting. A user interface device is accessible when second enclosure is closed, and allows user selections of normal and maintenance modes. When maintenance mode is selected, the trip unit changes the trip setting such that potential arc flash energy is reduced. The system is configured to keep the first access panel locked closed based on normal mode being selected, and allow unlocking based on maintenance mode being selected.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2012Publication date: March 14, 2013Inventors: Helmut Weiher, Sean McGuinness

Patent number: 7835141Abstract: There is a concern that water on the top surface of a cover 50A will penetrate the top face of a case 20 through gaps between an opening portion 51H and parts accommodation portions 34 because the parts accommodation portions 34 are exposed to the outside at the opening portion 51H on the top face of the cover 50A while the electrical connection box P is positioned in the cover 50A. Because drainage grooves 35 and 36, which reach the drainage channels 38 on the outside face of the case 20, are formed on the top face of the case 20, water that remains on the top face of the case 20 (the main body portion 30) is reliably drained by flowing into the drainage grooves 35 and 36.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2009Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Assignees: Autonetworks Technologies, Ltd., Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd., Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshikazu Sasaki, Yukinori Kita

Patent number: 7639476Abstract: When an electric connection box (P) is received inside a cover (50A), a part reception section (34) is exposed to the outside, in an opening (51H) in the upper surface of the cover (50A). As a consequence, there is fear that water on the upper surface of the cover (50A) enters onto the upper surface of a case (20) from a gap between the opening (51H) and the part reception section (34). Water discharge grooves (35, 36) reaching a water discharge path (38) in an outer surface of the case (20) is formed in the upper surface of the case (20), and as a result, water collecting on the upper surface of the case (20)(body section (30)) flows into the water discharge grooves (35, 36) to be reliably discharged.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2006Date of Patent: December 29, 2009Assignees: Sumitomo Wiring Systems, Ltd., Autonetworks Technologies, Ltd., Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshikazu Sasaki, Yukinori Kita

Patent number: 7613014Abstract: The present invention provides a switch mounting mechanism that can be adopted with ease in conjunction with a compact fluid pressure device. A space (31), to be used to absorb elastic deformation of a holding arm (33) occurring as a switch holder (24) is inserted through a groove opening (22A) of a switch mounting groove (22), is formed. A clearance (32) to be used as a buffer for the holding arm (33) is formed between the switch mounting groove (22) and a detection switch (21). As a result, the switch holder (24) can be inserted to assume the same position as the detection switch (21) inside the switch mounting groove (22).Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 2008Date of Patent: November 3, 2009Assignee: SMC CorporationInventor: Shioto Tokumoto

Patent number: 7599172Abstract: An electronic speed controller including a cabinet, a display and dialogue module, and a control bus connector. The cabinet includes an electronic control/command assembly. The display and dialogue module is disposed at a front face of the cabinet and includes a communication connector linked at the rear of the display and dialogue module to the electronic control/command assembly. The control bus connector links the communication connector and the electronic control/command assembly. The cabinet supports either (i) the display and dialogue module directly connected by a rear connector to the control bus connector or (2) one option module including a through connector with a rear part directly connected to the control bus connector and a front part directly connected to either the rear connector of the display and dialogue module or a rear part of a through connector of another option module.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2005Date of Patent: October 6, 2009Assignee: Schneider Toshiba Inverter Europe SASInventors: Jérôme Barreau, Thierry Huin

Patent number: 7599171Abstract: A load center includes an enclosure, a first power input, a second power input, a first circuit breaker having a line terminal electrically connected to the first power input and a load terminal, a first bus electrically connected to the load terminal, a number of independent second circuit breakers powered from the first bus, a second bus, a number of independent third circuit breakers powered from the second bus, and a transfer switch having a first input electrically connected to the first bus, a second input electrically connected to the second power input, and an output electrically connected to the second bus. The transfer switch selectively electrically connects one of its first and second inputs to its output. The first bus and the second circuit breakers power only a number of non-critical loads. The second bus and the third circuit breakers power only a number of critical loads.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2008Date of Patent: October 6, 2009Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventor: Scot E. Remmert

Publication number: 20090195971Abstract: An electrical junction box is configured to be attached to a vehicle. The box includes a container that has a front opening and a cavity located behind the front opening. A cover is movably attached to the container, so it can be moved into a closed position covering the front opening. A socket, to which an electrical supply cable can be removably connected, is fixed to the container beside the front opening. Breakers are secured to the container within the cavity. Each breaker has an input terminal and an output terminal. Each input terminal is electrically connected to the supply cable via the socket. Electrical distribution lines connect the breakers' output terminals to components of the vehicle that are outside the cavity.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2008Publication date: August 6, 2009Inventors: William A. Publication number: 20090185335Abstract: The present invention provides a module type power distribution apparatus in which power sources of an electrical distribution board and a switchboard for industry and home can be separated and the module type power distribution apparatus can be simply connected to the distribution board and the switchboard by bolts through modularization. Thus, simple detachment and attachment are possible without complicated fabrication processes as in the prior art and productivity can be improved through standardization. Further, the module type power distribution apparatus can be fabricated by a person having ordinary skill only by attaching or detaching a line breaker and can be reused. Furthermore, current depending on the usage of electricity can be detected through a current transformer and displayed on a display unit and the flow of current through an output terminal can be supplied to the outside.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2007Publication date: July 23, 2009Inventor: Yeong Min Kwon
