The metal structure is resilient against flexural loads, torsional loads, and other deformations from the exterior upon the display unit composed of thin plate glass, because the member that protects the display unit is in a box shape. The display unit itself can be protected from damage even if rigidity is reduced because of a thinner profile. The metal structure is manufactured by thin plate pressing and sufficient strength can be maintained even if the thickness is low. Furthermore, the metal structure is configured as a frame part of the entire casing, the rigidity of the entire device can therefore be maintained by using this structure, and the mounting board and functional components other than the display unit can also be protected.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for reducing circuit board flexing is presented. The apparatus is fastened to a printed circuit board to provide rigid support for reducing bending and flexing. In one embodiment, a rigid frame is provided that is adapted to be fastened to one or more components and to be fastened to a printed circuit board. The frame is adapted to elevate the attached component from the PCB surface allowing components to be mounted on the PCB therewith. The frame is adapted to occupy minimal printed circuit board surface area so as not to displace electronic components. In another embodiment, an elongated truss-like stiffener is provided that is adapted to be fastened to one side of the printed circuit board and adapted to span the printed circuit board. The elongated stiffener is adapted to have an open structure to minimize cooling flow disturbance and weight. The elongated stiffener includes a plurality of legs forming a truss-like structure.

  • Patent number: 6702125
Abstract: A support frame for receiving external electrical devices, having a base frame on which two vertical supports are fastened, which are arranged parallel at a distance from each other and each of which has a first profiled leg. The first profiled legs face each other, project into the installation space formed by the supports and have at least one row of attachment receivers cut in a division pattern. In order to retrofit such a support frame for different fastening size systems, each one of the supports has at least one second profiled leg, which has a row of attachment receivers cut in the division pattern and which projects from the support facing away from the installation space. The division pattern of the first profiled leg is different from that of the second profiled leg. The supports are fastened on the base frame in two installation positions, which are rotated by 180° around the longitudinal axes of the supports.
