Bag, Purse Or Trunk Patents (Class 362/156)
  • Patent number: 4774638
Abstract: A hand-held consumer device, having a flashlight for illuminating an inside of a container, the container having an inside wall. The flashlight is releasably mountable to the inside wall of the container by providing a first mounting surface attachable to the inside wall of the container and also a second mounting surface on the flashlight. The mounting surfaces each have interengaging members that are formed to become caught with each other when the two mounting surfaces are pressed against each other to thereby mount the flashlight to the inside wall of the container when the first mounting surface is attached to the inside wall of the container. The mounting surfaces are formed to be releasable from each other when pulled apart.

  • Patent number: 4698732
Abstract: In one embodiment, a carrier (1) is provided which comprises a generally bucket-shaped container (2) which has an open top (4) for collection of items, and which may have a handle (8) if desired. The container is provided with a bottom portion (5) having an opening (15) therein for receiving a light source such as a flashlight (10). The flashlight is suitably held in position, as by a press fit against the edge of the opening, and extends between the interior and exterior of the container. Depending upon the direction the flashlight is pointed, the light will either point downwardly to light the way of the user in the dark, or alternately may cause the container itself to light up when a translucent container material is used. In another embodiment, a pair of generally similar containers (17, 18) of the type described above are joined at their bottom portions so that one container opens upwardly and one downwardly.

  • Patent number: 4517627
Abstract: A spot light which can be made very compactly for use in handbags or like receptacles is provided with a dry cell extending adjacent one edge wall of a housing, and a lamp bulb disposed in an opening in an end wall of the housing adjacent the opposite edge wall. A rear wall of the housing is provided with a pivotal connection for attaching the light to an upper corner of the inside wall of the receptacle, so that the light is readily accessible and can be rotated about its pivot to illuminate substantially the entire contents of the receptacle with a relatively bright concentrated spot of light. The pivotal connection offers frictional or other resistance to rotation, so that once adjusted, the light is retained stably in a selected position while the user retrieves a selected illuminated item from the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4414610
Abstract: A laser-sighted firing device adapted to be carried in a portable enclosure, such as a briefcase, to conceal the device from detection. The device includes a firing piece and a laser-type sighting device mounted on a rigid base. The sighting device is adapted to project an aiming spot to a target along a sight line generally parallel to the line of fire of the firing piece. The sighting device is resiliently mounted on the base and means are provided for adjusting the device to calibrate the laser spot relative to the line of fire of the firing piece. The firing piece has a trigger mechanism that is operated by a lever pivotally mounted at one end on the base and connected at the other end to a solenoid-actuated operating means. The lever is operatively connected intermediate its ends to the trigger mechanism for firing the piece in response to actuation of the solenoid.

  • Patent number: 4332007
Abstract: A miniature utility light which can be detachably fastened in a handbag, pocketbook or articles of wearing apparel, or to the glove compartment of an automobile, or other items, so as to provide high intensity illumination enabling the user to perform operations at night, such as looking for keys, cosmetics, coins and other items difficult to locate in the dark. Specifically, at least one miniature battery is placed between an opaque and a clear plastic cover cooperating to form the case. Two lightbulbs are located with one bulb on each side of the battery so as to provide illumination through the cover and from the sides thereof. The clear cover has a serrate inner surface and has a pair of angled tabs which engage the opaque cover. The case also has mounted therein an externally accessible switch for selectively energizing and de-energizing the lightbulbs. VELCRO fastening strips are affixed to the outer surface of the opaque cover for detachably securing the light to a handbag or other article.

  • Patent number: 4091443
Abstract: A multipurpose light with mirror for use with a lady's handbag, or use with articles of wearing apparel to assist the wearer in performing operations at night which without sufficient light would be unsafe or difficult to perform. The basic structure is a container made of light diffusing and transmitting material having energy cells or batteries contained therein together with two light emitting devices, all connected with appropriate wiring and a three-way switch. The switch permits one of the light devices to provide light for illumination of the light diffusing and transmitting border of the container, while another position of the switch turns off this light and turns on the other illuminating device for projecting a beam of light away from the container.
