Abstract: A low profile lighting apparatus is characterized by a battery housing, a rail-engaging plate connected to the housing by a pair of arms, and a recessed activating push-button located between the arms and adjacent the rail-engaging plate. A flexible resilient tab, also recessed between the arms, secures the apparatus to a rail. A lock-out switch is built into a plug for closing an end of the housing. The plug has three discrete rotational positions, one for attachment, a second for activation of an illumination source, and a third for preventing accidental activation of the illumination source by requiring simultaneous axial pressure and rotation. Instead of the plug, a hinged door having a sliding latch part can be utilized. The sliding latch part includes a pair of resilient legs that cooperate with surfaces inside the door to urge the latch part toward a latching condition.

Abstract: A high efficiency flashlight bezel has a heat sink that controls the heat generated by at least one LED light source. The bezel is elongated to accommodate the heat sink. A constant current driver is attached to the back of the heat sink and connects the LED to the electrical power source housed in the flashlight body. The constant current driver keeps the light output steady throughout the entire run time and provides auto dimming for low battery reserve power. The bezel is adapted to fit on a traditional flashlight body thereby upgrading a flashlight without discarding it. The light output is four times the light output than conventional flashlights. Additionally, bulb life is greatly enhanced. The bezel is adapted to fit on a traditional flashlight body thereby upgrading a flashlight without discarding it.

Abstract: Embodiment of the invention include a lighting device having a tubular current-conductive housing, a lamp assembly, an insulator sleeve, and a diffuser globe. The lamp assembly can include one or more lamps such as one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs). The diffuser globe is preferably a fumed blown glass diffuser globe having a concentrated region for refracting and diffusing light. The diffuser globe can include an internal diffuser for further refraction and control of the light. Embodiments also include a solar powered hook-shaped luminaire having a solar panel, a body member, and a diffuser globe. Embodiments further include a shatter resistant, portable, remote controllable, programmable, rechargeable, and floatable lighting device and/or globe luminaire, which can be automatically, manually, remotely, and/or locally controlled.

  • Patent number: 8070308
Abstract: A bicycle light system has front and rear (white and red) lights with mounting brackets to secure on a bicycle helmet. A rechargeable battery is contained in the rear light casing, with an electrical cord extending between the front and rear light casings. The front light casing has controls for both front and rear lights, which can include different power levels and preferably a flash mode for the front light. 360° visibility preferably is provided via the front light, which projects colored light, such as amber, toward the sides. In a preferred embodiment the battery is rechargeable using a micro USB connection, a serial bus configuration widely used for cell phones, so that the battery will ordinarily be rechargeable via a cell phone recharging cable or a connection to a computer. Helmet mountings for the front and rear light casings have a quick-release feature enabling the lights to be easily and quickly removed from the helmet, such as for recharging.

Abstract: An animal exercise wheel is illuminated by LEDs connected to a battery via a reed switch. A magnet actuates the reed switch when an animal begins to rotate the wheel. The LEDs flash with the frequency of rotation of the animal wheel or continuously. As long as the wheel rotates, the magnet continues to actuate the reed switch, which resets a counter. When the wheel stops and the reed switch is no longer actuated, the counter counts a predetermined time, and terminates the illumination of the LEDs.

Abstract: A device is disclosed that uses a plurality of light sources. The light sources may be light emitting diodes (LEDs). The light sources are arranged and mounted to a deformable flexible substrate. The light sources are arranged and mounted to the substrate as to emit their radiation perpendicular to the substrate. The substrate is flexed in a concave or convex manner by motor, magnetic field or other mechanical means. The light sources may emit their radiation perpendicular to the substrate, or the may diverge or converge their radiation away from the substrate. Perforations in the substrate provide cooling to the light sources by convection or forced air. A threaded holder may be screwed onto threads on a case in order to bend the flexible substrate to change the direction of light from the light sources mounted to the flexible substrate.
